I suppose writng the above makes you feel superior. I have no idea why you think obeying God, like doing what your Father wants you to do, as a way to find closeness to him annoys you such that you find saying so callous. It is quite strange. Jesus said this is what brings the Father to dwell in us. Was he callous as well? That I think the same as Jesus taught on this matter, is that difficult for you? Maybe the expression "Nothing like" troubles you. Maybe you think that is the same as "Nothing but" which it is not.

Next time you pray, read the scripture and Mediation, focus on John 14. Read the words of Jesus and see if he says reading the Bible, praying and Meditation will result in the Father coming to dwell in you in intimacy.

By the way, reading the Bible, praying and meditation is very cheap. Costs a man pretty much nothing at all. Obeying the living God costs a man a lot. Is that what threatens you?
Hi...
David loved Gods word...

Psalm 119:11
Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.
I seriously would not call it cheap , for even Jesus said you do not know me because you have not searched the Scriptures...

How can a seed of faith die?
Jesus told in the parable about the different kinds of dirt (us) explaining this. The seed is the Word. The plant that springs up from the seed is our faith. Some plants or faith thrives for a time but when testing comes or difficulties in life, they wither and die. The faith that came from the word dies because they have no "root in themselves" Jesus said. The other way is the plant, faith, thrives until the deceitfulness of riches and the pleasures of this world choke it out and it dies. That is how I have seen men and women fall away from the faith. It was always one of these two reasons. It was a real plant from a real seed and it was fine until these outside forces came along and they gave up. Having put tr hand to the plow they turned back when the way got hard. (There are also those who fall away from the faith from persecution but those are fewer.) Jesus said, "he who endures shall be saved." Sounds very clear to me what he is saying. He who fails to endure will not be saved.

And?.......so what I have switched....I have been reading a lot of posts and quite honestly wished I hadn’t.as I get confused.no shame in that.
James 1:6
But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind.

It is not good to waver...
Would Jesus come back and find you luke warm ?

Yes yes. Your word have I hidden in my hear, that I might not SIN against you in real choices in real life with real people. The reading is very cheap. The not sinning against Him is expensive. Do you see what I mean?

It is easy and cheap to real "forgive those who sin against you" but it is difficult and maybe expensive to the feelings inside to actually forgive the man or Woman who was the reason you lost your job. Do you see what I mean?

If you are on the fency about OSAS, consider the kinds of posts those who believe this write you and what they say to you about you and see if you want to become like them. REmember, the teaching that you are going to Heaven no matter what evil you do to anyone does not bear good fruit. It means you can just "let -er rip" when you feel angry and are under no obligation to treat others as you would like to be treated. Your ticket to Heaven is secure no matter what. Surely the fruit of this is clear.

ANd no church teaches the above but it is a fruit of the teaching. If a church were honest enough to teach the above the cat would be out of the bag. They word it such that those truly saved WON'T DO any such thing to anyone because they are regenerated and so on. That these believers actually DO WRONG is ignored. The law of OSAS says they won't behave has we see they do.

SO if you are considering that theology look at the fruit of it. Jeers and yawns and other very childish (at best) behaviour. Do you really want to become like them. A little leaven leavens the whole lump so make no mistake, the pattern of the type of person they become is repeated. As a man thinks, so is he.

To be honest DorothyMae..I have been a nasty person in the past..very nasty...but I believe God let me get on with it....then believe it or not he changed me...he also revealed to me..that I can’t do anything in my own strength..it has been a wake up call.....I am still saved though....he promises he will never leave me.

If any man lack wisdom let him ask of GOd who gives generously without reproach. Do not reproach her for asking questions as God does not.

Me too. Do you want to go back there? OSAS will give you freedom to give into temptation to do so. There is no reason in OSAS theology not to be nasty if Heaven is your only goal. (They will tell you that you will lose rewards but when I ask them what rewards, they don't know. Not much of a motiation.) When you are tempted to be nasty, OSAS paves the way. (Of course they do not teach this but it is the reality of believing that theology if a Person wants to be nasty or engage in any other wrong pleasure.)

I understand what she means, when she says my faith must be in God alone,i think she is only trying to help...as I have been confused as Henry.

If reading the Holy Scriptures is cheap , than why on Gods green earth did the Holy Spirit inspire men to write it...
I think you have explained your thoughts wrong concerning this matter...

Gods word is our daily food , to feed our spirit , to teach us and so much more...

Calling the bible reading cheap is wrong , the reading of the bible brings many to Salvation...

Faith comes by hearing , and hearing from the word of God...

I did not say worthless. I said cheap in comparison with DOING what it says. Surely you can see simply READING it is not the same as living it?

You do not seem to understand the difference between reading words on a page and making yourself DO the teaching of the words. IF you read the words in the morning, "love your neighbor as yourself" and later the person near you says something really untrue and terribly insulting, is your natural response to love them and bless them? WHich is easier, to read the words or to love the offender? Don't you see that reading does not cost a man anything? Living the words cost him everything.

Are you serious , do you not hear yourself...
I gave her Scripture that we are to stand on , you know the Scripture reading that you call cheap , I say may God have mercy on you...

And she understood , but you do not want her understanding that she is secure in Christ , you would rather see her wavering on your false gospel , well I am more concerned about her soul by feeding her Gods word...

I know she is trying to help. But honestly, when I did not understand matters I asked God for clarity and He gave it in time. We are allowed to ask questions in order to understand. It is not a lack of faith.

When one has the Holy Spirit in them , He causes us to walk more like our LORD , He calls to our remembrence of what He has taught us by reading His word...

By switching do you mean from OSAS/ES to one can lose their salvation?

I fully understand your confusion?
Been there, seen it, done it and have the t-shirt.

Confusion reigns when we just take what someone else says/teaches and it seems to contradict what we were initially taught.

I had to challenge initially what I was taught/believed to be true.
It was quite frightening because I needed to realise that if I what I thought was not true then my foundations were faulty.

So I actually spent months reading what was out there concerning Christian theology.
I looked at the view I was used to and the opposing view.
A berean as such. I delved into scripture (it's much easier if you have a Bible app as you can link through very easily to correlating verses and use Bible study commentaries)

I myself switched after doing this.

It is if she is wavering...
Lack of faith is doubt , and we as her sisters and brothers should come a long side her to help her , not teach her what you are teaching that one can fall from Gods Almighty hand...

Interesting. I gave her a scripture regarding what the BIble has to say when someone is unsure. But I did not tell her it was a scripture. You do not believe that scripture. Your thinking on this matter does not match the scripture. Do you want the reference? It was from James from memory. You told her to be ashamed of her question. I told her to ask God who does not reproach us for asking. Which is better advise?
And she understood , but you do not want her understanding that she is secure in Christ , you would rather see her wavering on your false gospel , well I am more concerned about her soul by feeding her Gods word...
You are more concerned by making her feel ashamed? I want her to understand matters of God. You wanted her to be ashamed claiming Jesus might come any minute and find her in that frame of mind.

"And making your self do"
We have a problem here. And it's the same problem as before.
