And yet they were punished the same. What is more, at Moses the law only given to the Jews. The rest of the world still didn’t have it and. y your theory, should all have gone to Heaven, that is, none of the wickedness they did was recorded against them. Bummer for them that Jesus came, according to your theory.I do. But I read all of the Bible to find the truth, not isolated bits.

They who sinned without the law perished without the law. But not because of Adams sin but their own.

I can see why you like your theology and refuse anything else. You’d have to repent of real sin you did (noun) not merely what Adam did which you cannot be responsible for changing. So human pride is left fully intact with no humbling required.
Okay, we are going around in circles anyway, since you are not confident enough to state that you disagree with what Paul is saying in Romans 5:12-14.

But no Bible writer even hints that we are not punished for our own sin but instead for what Adam did.
I think you have made a very good point. No man is pure and innocent and every man knows it. When Genesis spoke of sin entering the world through Adam, it means just that. The world was cursed in all the described ways.

We are all bent (proclivity) towards sin at birth. We all yield to it in short order. We then reach an "age of accountability" for our sins. We must surrender to Jesus so that His blood will cover our sin.

That is not what Romans 5:12-14 is saying. It was Adam's disobedience that condemned everyone, before the Law was given thru Moses, to their death.
Romans
5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
5:13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
5:14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.

It starts right out by saying that all have sinned. It then states that sin was in the world, even before Moses. The world started out good, until Adam and Eve bungled in the jungle. Punishment for disobedience ensued. Verse 13 verifies that there was a law in effect even before Moses. When Moses came, the concept of salvation was introduced. OT sacrifices pointed towards Jesus' Atonement.

The only law that existed then was that if you eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, you will die.

Since Adam and Eve from that tree, mankind is banished from the Garden and hence can no longer eat from the tree.

Still Adam's descendants all died. Since vs 13 state sin was not imputed to them, why did they die?

Because everyone I talk to about this subject tells me about Romans 7 and how they believe they must continue to clean up their flesh. Or war with it. I simply believe because at this level to renew the mind is not to make it behave, but rather to make it believe. In doing so I bond in my mind with the spirit of Jesus Christ.
Cleaning up the flesh is part of the life-long repentance process leading to sanctification. Repentance is a manifestation of salvation. Regarding going to war with cleaning of the flesh, Paul has stated that one works out their salvation with fear and trembling with, I'm surmising, the probable reason being that one is not clear on how salvation is obtained in the first place.

I don't have to be Christ to walk in the spirit of Christ. And in that spirit there is no sin.

AMEN!

There is no sin in any portion of Christ from the WORD, to being made flesh, to His Holy Spirit that lives within us. But You and Myself are not Christ or His Spirit. We might be filled with Him, but we are still not as Him.

In the past week, have you had thoughts of sexual nature with women other than your wife? Have you thought ill of someone not same skin color? Have you been mad enough to think something ungodly?

I do not believe that you are in complete 100% control over your mind at all, because none of us are. Even the slightest thought against/towards someone is not like Christ. I believe you still sin because you like us all cannot control it all of the time!

The Bible says I don't sin and I don't have a church.

Really?

So you have never thought a derogatory slain towards hispanics, blacks, whites, asians, anyone ever?
You have never judged anyone unfairly?
You have never gossiped?
You have never looked at other women and for a brief moment began to think sexual intent towards her?
You have never been driving and someone cut you off to the point of almost crashing and not yelled something irrational at them?

I think you're in denial!

By the way, Denial is not a River that runs through Egypt!

He does not say the Christian. He's not talking to the Christian. Here's another example. Romans 10:9-10 is not talking to the Christian either.

LOL! He is most certainly writing to Christians. It is very troubling how people will ignore the scripture that does not agree with their little corner of the world.

1 Paul, a servant[a] of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, 2 which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the holy Scriptures, 3 concerning his Son, who was descended from David[b] according to the flesh 4 and was declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord, 5 through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith for the sake of his name among all the nations, 6 including you who are called to belong to Jesus Christ,

7 To all those in Rome who are loved by God and called to be saints:

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

OK? to those in Rome who are loved by God and CALLED to be SAINTS.

Now those ARE Christians by any understanding.

I have a problem tolerating the smugness of those who think they are here to teach others and in the meantime, they badly need to be taught themselves.

^ Don't you have that "Do as I say, Not as I DO" idealism running through your mind reading the garbage the "thread Op/peterlag" is tossing out?

I do wonder why a guy like you would think you might be more familiar with any verse more than me.

For the same reason you assume I am male. You think you are all knowing. LOL!

Most people here know more than you and know that Christians are not sinless. Forgiven and sinless IN Christ are not the same. God sees us washed in the blood of Christ, otherwise, He would just smoosh us and especially those who are so full of themselves.

At the same time, I must also admit, I have never met someone perfect in my life (Saved/not Saved). So just maybe, I don't know how to properly respond to such perfection. Should I be bowing down as I hit the post reply button? Or, should I be singing how great thou art when I hit send? I really am out of my league here how I should be sending this

Apologize often and profusely and you might be allowed to breath some of that rare atmosphere. I am not unfamiliar with the personality.

Speaking of personalities, I got 60% David which is not a surprise. 32% of people get that though so there will be plenty of lyre playing in heaven ;).

You are either in Christ or you're not. Either you're walking in the spirit or you're not. But if you're in the spirit. Then there is no sin because the spirit of Christ does not sin.
Yet, sin is still committed whether one is in Christ or not in Christ. No, the spirit of Christ does not sin but the spirit of rebellion inside oneself is fully capable of committing a sin. Paul was in Christ and walked in the spirit and yet he claimed that he was the chief among sinners.

I took 5 of those tests and ended up as a mutt mixture of 6 Bible Characters. And not a single one of them were the kind of people who gave homage to another human being. I guess I will be the first in line to be executed for dishonoring such perfection :(

I'm not surprised about that either. But no worries. I can kill giants if pointed in the right direction.

Jacob stole from his brother and would not obey the Angel (God) until he was blessed.
Moses tried talking himself out of doing God's Will plus killed an Egyptian.
Daniel would not obey the king's decree.
Elisha watched a she bear eat the children making fun of him.
Peter was called Satan by God Himself and then cut off the ear of a Centurion.
Esther deceived her own husband.

Yep, I am low on the totem pole with this one!

The spirit of Christ was not yet given when Moses was around. Christ did not yet come until thousands of years later. Good Lord, can't you guys understand a little of this Bible.
Prior to day of Pentecost, HS was upon the believer ... not indwelling as we have after Pentecost.
