Duty is ours, results are God's.
John Quincy Adams
US diplomat & politician (1767 - 1848)
In good Government, the duty of its citizens is to promote and defend the system that protects its citizen's lives, liberty, and property from foreign or domestic threats.
The duty of marriage in a covenant pledge to remain faithful to each other, encourage, strengthen, love, defend, and to be there in sickness or the trials of life. A sacred pact as designed by God to promote a healthy society.
The duty of parenthood is the blessed and sacred opportunity to raise God-loving children who also learn the self-evident morality that our laws are based on. To raise them together to be law-abiding, self-reliant, and productive to society. To love, encourage, strengthen, teach, and to show them by example the men and women you wish them to be.
The duty to the community and those around us. To help those who are needy, sick, poor, vulnerable, and to promote what is righteous and just.
Our duty to God includes these responsibilities of life. We work within our responsibilities and hold faithful even if the results are not seen in our lifetime. We do our part and leave the results to God. We were created for good works in Christ Jesus.
Everything is prophetically given that in all matters, every event in history led to one pivotal moment. The day the Jewish and Gentile people came face to face with the reality that the man named Jesus Christ was no longer in the tomb just as he foretold. This event changed the world. Completely shook the middle east, the Roman Empire, and eventually, The Way also called Christianity began to spread like wildfire throughout the gentile regions. People saw the risen Jesus and His Apostles who to be kept from execution all they had to do was say Jesus Christ never was resurrected. They gained nothing of the world for claiming it as true. No money, power, possessions, but only a life of hardship, persecution, and eventually execution. Remaining faithful even unto death but God brought about powerful results.
The results of life are God working amidst the will of mankind. The will of God will still come to pass no matter the actions of men. We are to be selfless and take on a higher honor. We are to be the good servant of Matthew 24:46. Diligently working in the faithfulness that we do not work in vain, that our lives bring glory and honor to God while leading others to such freedom.
Matthew 24:45-51 New International Version (NIV)
45 “Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time? 46 It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns. 47 Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions. 48 But suppose that servant is wicked and says to himself, ‘My master is staying away a long time,’ 49 and he then begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with drunkards. 50 The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of. 51 He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
