Hello fellow believers. Being new here, I wanted to get to know the members and one way of doing that is to get a general consensus on what we all believe. It is just a tool for taking a sample of views from a group of believers to identify where we agree on the basic tenets of the Christian faith.

So, me thinks you should answer all 20 questions..........FIRST,

I'm also wondering why we should be required to justify ourselves as believers to you?

IF you want to "know" the believers here, I suggest you delve into the various Threads on the various Forum Pages, and read the various comments...........

After all, we have zero idea who you are.........you can say whatever you want about who you are, or for what reason you want so much information.......as can ANYONE who joins this Site, so, why exactly, should we bare our souls to you????

Just pointing out that your "request" goes well beyond what any person here should have to provide to any other member here.
I do not think he is asking one to justify anything. That would be unfair because his stands on the 20 questions the thread creator has not answered. Please lighten up.

Batyah,
You certainly didn't offend me. I'm suspicious of everything because I'm acutely aware of the evil nature of man. That said, I kinda like your questions. I see some opportunities for some apparent contradictions within them and in the ordering. That's what made me say it's a trap. But I hope everyone answers them - trap or no trap. It's interesting. I can see that I disagree with @soberxp but I do respect him for being bold enough to put his answers down. I hope everyone answers the questions. And I'd echo your stipulation of not looking up the answers first. Put your pride aside, and be willing to look a little bit dumb once in awhile. That's how we learn.
Thanks again for the continued honest dialogue. It was ten years ago that it dawned on me how much I still didn't know. I was led, prompted, by the Spirit of the Holy One to apply the teaching from the bible that says to test all things against scripture. The 2008 election was quite the catalyst. Because of the depth of my involvement at the time in the political movement, brandishing flag and bible, I took to studying hard to see what the Lord would have to say about the current (at that time) situation in our nation. It was eye-opening and that led me to re-assess just what it was I believed, based on the doctrine that I was taught growing up going to Sunday church every week. I thank my heavenly Father that my mother dragged me there because the seed was planted.
I won't go into my political views here. That's another thread for another day.
Anyway, the first bit of wisdom I sought was to figure out how much of the teachings from childhood were actually scriptural. Many, many, many were not. So in a sense I had to unlearn what I had been told was 'gospel truth' and let the Lord show me the Truth.
That journey began and continues to this day and will continue until that Great Day when we see our King.

I prayed before I posted the survey and had the handwritten questions for 2 days, rephrasing and re-ordering them.
These were topics that were of interest to me and by no means are a litmus test for who's really a Christian and who's not.
not my call.
I enjoy the conversation always when it is about the Lord. Finding open honest believers to chat with is heartwarming.

Stay in the Word.
Every answer to every question about anything that will ever arise in one's life is in there. No matter the subject. There is direction and Truth. There is Life and Light. His Word should be a lamp for our feet to guide us on our path, in His Way. The scriptures define themselves and explain themselves. The Word of God never contradicts itself. Only man's mind does that. No other document, writings (church fathers or rabbis), no sermons, creeds, youtube videos, or catechisms are needed for determining and defining and discovering the Truth within the Word.

May He grant you the wisdom you seek.

18. Keeping the Sabbath
19. YHWH, Yahweh, I AM (also later Jehovah as a modernization because there was no such thing as the letter J back then)
20. The Gospel of the Kingdom is what the Messiah preached. The good news of the Kingdom. Long before this age, before the foundations of the world, the Sovereign and Almighty Lord and Creator of the Universe had a plan. He has been coordinating that plan and bringing it to fruition through this age, since the creation of this Adamic race of mankind. His plan entails cultivating a people unto Himself by planting the spiritual Seed, that He may build a family to love Him, serve Him and worship Him in His Kingdom that He plans to establish here on earth. Malachi 3: "'Behold, I send My messenger, and he will prepare the way before Me. And the Lord, whom you seek, will suddenly come to His temple, even the Messenger of the covenant, in whom you delight. Behold, He is coming,' says the LORD of hosts". Two messengers are mentioned in this verse. The first is John the Baptist, who prepared the way for the second Messenger, "the Messenger of the covenant," Jesus the Messiah. Jesus said He came for the sheep of Israel.
To do what with? Bring into the Kingdom. The only way that was possible was for His blood to cover our sins, that we may be in the presence of the Lord.
The people He singled out to be a set-apart nation was physical Israel (not to be confused with Jews) and out of that historical nation He would be cultivating a spiritual nation.
Anyway, the Kingdom and the path to it is the underlying message throughout scriptures and every event recorded in the Word all point to His stated goal. So spiritual Israel is His 'crop' if you will and at the second coming of the Lord and King Jesus it will be harvest time.

Anyway, that's the basics of what I believe. Always feel free to ask any questions you wish. I am not bashful and will answer frankly if I reply. I, like anyone here, have the right to refrain from engaging in dialogue on certain topics. I'll let you know if you touch on one!

Have a super blessed day.

Read the apostles Creed, that's a good description of what I believe.

8. Do you believe that the Church was formed and began during the events that took place in the second chapter of Acts? Yes
9. Was Abraham Jewish? Yes?
10. Do you believe it is okay for openly gay people to serve in any position in the church congregation? Torn about this issue, as I know some devout gay Christians who display Christ-like qualities.
11. Do you believe the OT Law was nailed to the cross and thus made void at the death of Jesus? Yes
12. What is the fourth commandment? I don't know.
13. What day of the week did John receive the Revelation of the Christ on the island of Patmos? I don't know.

Peace and Love and Blessings to all of you in the name of the Messiah.

1. Do you believe Christians go to Heaven when they die? Yes

2. Do you believe unsaved sinners go to Hell when they die? Yes

3. Do you believe that Jesus died on a Friday? Probably Thursday and rose Sunday morning.

4. Do you believe that God desires Christians to celebrate His Son's birthday annually? Not sure. Jesus was probably born during harvest.

5. Do you believe that it pleases God for Christians to commemorate the resurrection annually on Easter Sunday? Yes

6. Do you believe that Sunday is a Holy Day? Sort of.

7. Do you believe the earth is 6000 years old? I believe in a young earth but maybe not that young.

8. Do you believe that the Church was formed and began during the events that took place in the second chapter of Acts? I think the church began when the Lord Jesus started gathering disciples.

9. Was Abraham Jewish? No.

10. Do you believe it is okay for openly gay people to serve in any position in the church congregation? No.

11. Do you believe the OT Law was nailed to the cross and thus made void at the death of Jesus? Sort of. For believers in Christ only.

12. What is the fourth commandment? Remember and Keep the Sabbath Holy

13. What day of the week did John receive the Revelation of the Christ on the island of Patmos? Sunday

14. How many 24hr periods (complete days) was Jesus dead in the grave? 2.66

15. What does the Word of God instruct on how to perform a wedding ceremony? Not sure

16. What does the Word of God instruct on how and when to administer communion? When you come together

17. How many books are there in the Bible? 66

18. What sign did God say would be between He and His people that would indicate to the world who are His? They will handle snakes but not get bit. If they are poisoned it will not harm them. They can heal the sick.

19. What is God's name? Jesus or I AM

20. What is the Gospel? Define and describe briefly the Gospel of the Kingdom that Jesus preached, the apostles preached and His Church is commissioned to go into the world and preach?

The gospel is that the Lord Jesus died for our sins and was then resurrected 3 days later. He is the intermediary between us and the Father in Heaven.

The Kingdom of God is Spiritual and it resides within us.

Again, I ask that you answer off the top of your head. I don't need to know you can go look something up. If you don't know, don't answer.
Quote the scripture if you already know it. After you have replied to survey, then, by all means, take the questions and your Bible and go get with your tutor, the Spirit of the Holy One and seek the Truth.

well to be honest, I find it a bit of a stretch to post those questions and now supply answers that indicate you are possibly a Sabbath keeper. I mean you know most Christians do not follow beliefs as you do, right?

So it seems you would like to find other Sabbath keepers or those who tend to follow Jewish rather than Christian custom and practices

looking at your responses to your own questions, it seems you asked specific questions related to your beliefs. they certainly are not general questions

I, like anyone here, have the right to refrain from engaging in dialogue on certain topics.
sounds a little ominous

Please know that I am only trying to gauge what it is the "church" believes as a whole.
This is an exercise in futility. There are at least two dozen denominations, and some have very serious differences from Bible truth. Also, from a couple of responses you have given in one of my threads, you have some serious issues also in understanding Bible truth.

I have compiled an informal poll/survey with 20 questions that I would so GREATLY appreciate a response to from whoever wishes to participate.
The first half is simple yes or no questions about what you truly believe. The balance is questions that require something other than yes or no.
A simple few sentences will suffice or even quoting the scripture you feel directly applies to what it is you believe. You may also feel free to expound on any question/topic by private message if you wish so as not to get the thread off track. Simply ignore any questions you don't know the answer to or don't wish to discuss. The one thing I ask, at this point, is that you reply from your heart. That you answer only what you are sure of. If you don't know, say "don't know". Please do not go dig for answers on bible gateway before replying. This must be things that you have already studied and decided as Truth, what you believe to be true.
His Word should be written on our hearts.
Please know that I am only trying to gauge what it is the "church" believes as a whole.
They say that there are 22 million 'so-called' Christians in the world. Yet so many are unsure of what they believe and there are so many doctrines
being taught with various applications in Protestant and Catholic churches around the globe. So I would like to take samples of some communities, online and in local congregations. (I will be mailing this to pastors of local churches as well.)

Peace and Love and Blessings to all of you in the name of the Messiah.

well to be honest, I find it a bit of a stretch to post those questions and now supply answers that indicate you are possibly a Sabbath keeper. I mean you know most Christians do not follow beliefs as you do, right?

So it seems you would like to find other Sabbath keepers or those who tend to follow Jewish rather than Christian custom and practices

looking at your responses to your own questions, it seems you asked specific questions related to your beliefs. they certainly are not general questions

sounds a little ominous
why are people so skeptical?
I'm well aware that mainstream Christians practice a different doctrine than I. That is by no means news to me.
Why must I go find other sabbath keepers to talk to? Nor do I wish to fellowship with unbelieving Hebrews who practice Judaism.
I wish to only share the wonderful life and blessings that are found within the pages of Holy Scripture, the Word of God.
That's why I do not have an affiliation with any man-made denomination, catholic, protestant or otherwise.
I do not believe Jesus came to start a new religion. I'm getting back to basics and learning about the God of the Bible, not the church of religiosity. I have been blessed to find a couple congregations within 50 miles of me that I can fellowship with that do not teach for doctrine the customs of man.
If you are any of the other believers here or elsewhere are truly sure of what you believe then you should be confident in claiming it.
I respect you and your view of what comprises a Christian walk and relationship with the Heavenly Father.

I hope others here will be able to respect mine. Minority view such as it is.

peace in Him

6. Do you believe that Sunday is a Holy Day?
7. Do you believe the earth is 6000 years old?
8. Do you believe that the Church was formed and began during the events that took place in the second chapter of Acts?
9. Was Abraham Jewish?
10. Do you believe it is okay for openly gay people to serve in any position in the church congregation?
11. Do you believe the OT Law was nailed to the cross and thus made void at the death of Jesus?

12. What is the fourth commandment?
13. What day of the week did John receive the Revelation of the Christ on the island of Patmos?
14. How many 24hr periods (complete days) was Jesus dead in the grave?
15. What does the Word of God instruct on how to perform a wedding ceremony?
16. What does the Word of God instruct on how and when to administer communion?
17. How many books are there in the Bible?
18. What sign did God say would be between He and His people that would indicate to the world who are His?
19. What is God's name?
20. What is the Gospel? Define and describe briefly the Gospel of the Kingdom that Jesus preached, the apostles preached and His Church is commissioned to go into the world and preach?
  1. Do you believe Christians go to Heaven when they die?
    1. the one believing in Him will never die, and believing in Him and living, tho they die, they will live forever
  2. Do you believe unsaved sinners go to Hell when they die?
    1. everyone is deserving of condemnation and will go to it if they cannot be justified before God
  3. Do you believe that Jesus died on a Friday?
    1. lol of course not. on Pascha. it would be a Gregorian calendar wednesday.
  4. Do you believe that God desires Christians to celebrate His Son's birthday annually?
    1. God desires that we rejoice in all things with thanksgiving
  5. Do you believe that it pleases God for Christians to commemorate the resurrection annually on Easter Sunday?
    1. in that we at least rejoice part of one day out of a solar year, yeah. but there is no 'Eostare' in scripture - it's Pasha. Passover, and the associated Firstfruits.
  6. Do you believe that Sunday is a Holy Day?
    1. only in that all days are holy when they are devoted to Him.
  7. Do you believe the earth is 6000 years old?
    1. at least.
  8. Do you believe that the Church was formed and began during the events that took place in the second chapter of Acts?
    1. He began speaking kindly to His Bride long before Acts 2. logically she pre-exists Him courting her.
  9. Was Abraham Jewish?
    1. lol no. 'Jew' has reference to Judah. similarly Israelites are descendants of Israel = Jacob.
  10. Do you believe it is okay for openly gay people to serve in any position in the church congregation?
    1. not any more okay than an adulterer or fornicator should be serving the church. or a liar. or a gossip. or a thief. etc
  11. Do you believe the OT Law was nailed to the cross and thus made void at the death of Jesus
    1. um no; the OT is a lot more than the law given through Moses.
  12. What is the fourth commandment?
    1. Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear
  13. What day of the week did John receive the Revelation of the Christ on the island of Patmos?
    1. Gregorian sunday
  14. How many 24hr periods (complete days) was Jesus dead in the grave?
    1. He was in the heart of the earth 3 days and 3 nights. that's not the same as 24hr or 12hr periods, you know - time it over the course of a year. God's calendar is sunset to sunset, not midnight to midnight.
  15. What does the Word of God instruct on how to perform a wedding ceremony?
    1. it doesn't directly. but look up the 12-step Hebrew betrothal process; it's not an accidental custom.
  16. What does the Word of God instruct on how and when to administer communion?
    1. with regard to when, as often as.
with regard to 'how' the way Paul describes it is as though there is enough food and wine for all to eat and drink and be filled. i.e. not a teeny sip of grape flavored beverage and a small corner of a dry cracker.
  17. How many books are there in the Bible?
    1. well it's one book. that's all that matters. we divide it into 66 segments and the Jews consider the OT to be 17 segments rather than 39, treating some things as the same segments that Gentiles treat as different.
  18. What sign did God say would be between He and His people that would indicate to the world who are His?
    1. that we love one another
  19. What is God's name?
    1. THE BRANCH
  20. What is the Gospel? Define and describe briefly the Gospel of the Kingdom that Jesus preached, the apostles preached and His Church is commissioned to go into the world and preach?
    1. if you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.

Please!! don't answer questions by taking up all my computer space with those canned pictures.
I did not answer any questions. The limitations of your electronic devices are your responsibility and nobody else's, those are not canned pictures, and you have zero authority over me.

I didn't tell you what my views are.

nor did I tell you that you cannot express your views

you chose to present those views in a certain way and you made that very plain
