There is nothing like half brother or half sister in my country. I have never read it in the Bible. Help me to understand this relation phenomena. What is the difference between half brother or sister and full brother or sister? What can you do to a half that you cannot do to a full*or vise versa? As a Christian, how do you feel about such relationship? *usually I feel like i am failing my duties as a pastor when explaining such relationships.

A "half" brother or sister is a sibling who was born of one of your parents and someone else, whereas a "full" brother or sister is a sibling who has the same set of parents as you.

I have two "half" brothers (both have different fathers than me and my sister) but I don't see them as such. We all grew up in the same house with our mom, so, to us, there is no difference; we're family.

Now, I understand how it would be to grow up in different areas or having a half sibling as a result of adultery or fornication but I think treating that person as anyone else would suffice (I'd say "friend" but you don't have to be friends with anyone you don't want to).

As a Christian, I think we should remember that, while we may come from sin, that doesn't deem us unbearable. We don't have any control over who our parents are nor are we responsible for their bad decisions.

Being respectful is key.

I completely agree with what you said. My daughter has a sister from my Ex wife cheating on me and then divorcing me. The child came after the divorced was finalized but the LORD sees it as one way. I have no ill will towards my Ex, the guy or the child. I hope to meet her one day because my daughter loves her. I love my Ex and child so how can I not love a child that is a part of her. JESUS principle message was to love and forgive and that is what I have done but it wasn't easy.

The "half" or "step" comes from pride I feel. Are we not a children from GOD? Are we not all loved by him, no matter how we got there? If you live like JESUS, you are his brother, for HE said,"For whoever does the will of My Father who is in heaven, he is My brother and sister and mother." Matthew 12:50

If that is a case, then I have never failled my duties in these matters concerning Half or step relationships.
I likewise feel that the "half" or "step" whatsoever comes out of pride and hatered.

It is interesting that you were never exposed to the concept of "half" or "step" sibling. In point of fact, God does not recognize the concept, because God does not recognize divorce (except in the case of marital infidelity). However, as we all know, "times have changed".

Christians need to show all siblings love and compassion; just as they would anyone else. I think you have hit upon a very significant insight when you say that using the words "half" or "step' is a reflection of the sin of pride. Why else would it be necessary to distinguish the relationship?
