You are projecting a false intention to the penitent on the knees. Those followers want to suffer because the Lord they love suffered. If someone you love is hurting you can't go to a carnival. You want to be with them in their suffering. Its like that. To elevate status has nothing to do with it.
Jesus is no longer on the cross.

God has decreed how we are to worship him and follow him in the revelation of Scripture and nowhere else.

The above is nothing of the sort.

It is manufactured self-inflicted nonsense that has no basis in eternal truth, scripture, or God's ways. It is nothing less than mans religious attempt to please God. Paul rejected this type of thing in Colossians.

Frankly it appears to be similar to Baal worship and paganism. Well, because it is. It isn't Christian whatsoever.

Jesus is no longer on the cross.
1 Cor. 2: 2
2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified

Gal.6
But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

Gal. 2

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me:

Narcissistic devaluation is that whole post. Complete lack of substance.

Whenever you think you can see a Catholics internal motivations I want you to understand that you can't.

It's not a good fruit of the Spirit To think you know such things without ever asking. Even worse to invalidate what you are told by a Catholic.

Gaslighting is not the Holy Spirit.

The Father seeks us to worship Him in Spirit and in Truth.

Jesus would speak and at the end say, “He who has an ear, hear what the Spirit is saying.”

None of us can understand anything unless we have an ear to hear what the Spirit is saying.

The Holy Spirit is given to those that not only believe BUT also LOVE THE TRUTH.

God desires us to know and love Him - God knows those that do and those that don’t and those that are in “the valley of decision.”

Persecution can and does produce fruit....no one said it was the source...who said it was the source @dcontroversal ?
No....it cannot....and you just did...the source IS THE SPIRIT

OF OR FROM = Source

the FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT

What is so hard to grasp about that TRUTH!

Quote one verse in context that INDICATES that persecution PRODUCES fruit!

We are crucified with Christ when we are born from above in Him and we rise to new life in Him.

We rejoice in His victory and are humbled and thankful for the gift of salvation because of HIS suffering.

Trying to share in His suffering is an act of false humility.

Well, we do taste.....

consequences (the 4 horsemen of Revelation) and....

judgment (7 trumpets of Revelation)

BUT, NEVER WILL BELIEVERS TASTE the WRATH of God in the 7 vials or bowls of Revelation.

The Lord manifests in a believers heart........when one is persecuted, through the Love that Christ has for these people.....his Love for them manifests in my heart..if I allow it......therefore I can Love them in his strength.

Maybe produce was the wrong word...

Too much of what we think of as "love" is based on our emotions and not actions. Do a word study from your concordance, on love, (KJV), and begin with 1st. John 2: 3-6. Too much of this word love is understood by what I feel, and not towards what I am doing. For example, John 3:16 shows the feelings of God, then his doing. Without his doing part, we would still be in our sins, and God would only have compassion towards us, but without the doing that would save us.

Sharing In His Suffering Means Sharing In His Glory.

22Blessed are you when people hate you,
when they exclude you and insult you
and reject your name as evil,
because of the Son of Man.
23“Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how their ancestors treated the prophets.

24“But woe to you who are rich,

for you have already received your comfort.

25Woe to you who are well fed now,

for you will go hungry.

Woe to you who laugh now,

for you will mourn and weep.

26Woe to you when everyone speaks well of you,

for that is how their ancestors treated the false prophets.

Sharing In His Suffering Means Sharing In His Glory.
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with Him, that we may be also glorified together.

Paul was writing to believers in Rome who were experiencing persecution.

He is teaching them that as believers, those in Him, they are not immune to the sufferings in this world.

Reminding them they are joint heirs with Christ and to remember that suffering is only temporary and their future glorification will far exceed their present suffering.

Sharing in His glory is not contingent upon suffering........................ that is not the correct way to read that section.

We share in His glory because we ARE His children and joint heirs WITH Him.

Can anyone decipher this? Thanks.

Forgivness flows from faith. Faith is listed. But it is also a gift that produces fruit. Greater faith is made visible by greater works of forgiveness. Faith must be made visible by works. The works are fruit.

what is a greater 'work' of forgiveness? which leads to the question 'is forgiveness a work?"

I don't see where there is an option to forgive or not forgive in scripture as Paul says this :

Be kind and tenderhearted to one another, forgiving each other just as in Christ God forgave you. Eph 4:32 and of course we also have the words of Jesus Himself saying that if you have something against another, leave your gift at the altar and go and be reconciled.

we are not offering sacrifices anymore, there has been one final sacrifice and now we are forgiven and should forgive others

there is no scale of forgiveness either that I can find. The Bible simply says to forgive and if that is not good enough, then consider you should forgive because you have been forgiven

eh? Paul is not speaking literally and I would hope we all know that? should we be like certain Catholic sects that actually encourage men to be crucified (briefly to be sure) in order to suffer? they have no understanding of Jesus death if they think that pleases God!

Paul is speaking of his new life in Christ and that he no longer pursues the old life he lived

honest to Pete, I have seen some twisting around this forum and the above verses you quoted in order to 'prove' suffering are right up there in the top 10

how does Christ live in us ? By the Spirit of God? No? or do you think it comes about through flagellation or other such torture?

no priest ever put his flesh to death by such devices and the multiple sex scandals within the Catholic institution should give that credence
