God is protecting and will protect Israel and will never break His covenant with her. He loves her and as you said He has a plan for her which is coming to pass before our very eyes and will continue to do so until the end.
Yes, that is true but Paul was clear in Romans 11:11 and Romans 11:28
11 I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather
through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.
28 As concerning the gospel,
they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the father's sakes.
The Holy Spirit was speaking thru Stephen,
to all the leaders of Israel at Acts 7, and it was a very serious judgement
51 Ye
stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost:
as your fathers did, so do ye.
52 Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom
ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:
Calling Israel uncircumcised was a very damning statement. As far as we have now, Israel is no longer God's favored nation.
But yes, you are right, God has not forgotten Israel, and will come back for them, because he had made an unconditional promise to their father Abraham in Romans 11
28 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes:
but as touching the election, they are beloved for the father's sakes.
29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
30 For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:
31 Even so have these also now not believed, that
through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.
