Bible study is a difficult topic. It needs a leader, and a leader must have vast biblical knowledge and that knowledge must not be tainted with following a man's interpretation like even Luther or the Pope.
bible study can also be separated by how much the students know about scripture.
I found a man to lead who is free on the net and assures us that he only uses his scripture knowledge, without being led by any church dogma. I feel accepting his leadership to bible study still needs to be done with care, and should have several students so scripture comes first, not the leader. I have searched for years for others to join me in this study under this leadership so several minds can check on him. He is very deep and involved, there are colleges who use his leadership for a class and I have been turned down by every single person in either my church or my town.
I disagree. Bible study should NOT have one "leader" who teaches his/her theology! It is simple reading passages of scripture AS THEY'RE WRITTEN IN CONTEXT then asking each others input and/or questions. The Bible is mostly self explanitory if you STUDY it. If u want a teaching, listen to a sermon.Bible study is a difficult topic. Romans 5 verses at a time ?Anyone want to learn bible? Let's learn and together, let's be friends! Let me know~
Also we see ' a servant ' . separated ( sanctified ) For a purpose . Often we hear that we are ' called to BE saved ' but here we see Called AFTER we are saved , for a purpose. We are called when we respond to the Gospel . ' Faith comes by hearing ' ...Romans 5 verses at a time ?
1¶Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,
2(Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,)
3Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;
4And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:
5By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:
Go ...Verse one we see Pauls calling . To be an Apostle to the Gentiles ....
Those five verses could take long time to be studied in depth. So people can choose to either go in that direction, or just focus on some key points. Just the first three verses would require an in-depth study of the Old Testament to find that Gospel which was promised therein.Romans 5 verses at a time ?
Just a thought. We could just go with what it says . Looking to some verses in the Old T can help . I don't think we need an in depth study of the OT . After all the Gentiles hearing Romans would have to understand to a degree at face value.Those five verses could take long time to be studied in depth. Reading the bible without any outside influence is EXACTLY what I am speaking of. But that requires knowing what the conditions and thoughts were of the men who God gave the job of putting down what is purely God so we know what the words he used to express those thoughts meant to him. We need to know who Paul was to understand Paul, that is why scripture gives us his background. We need to know what problems Paul was addressing in the churches he wrote to. And we need to get the thoughts of men OUT of interpretation and just listen to the Lord.I disagree. Bible study should NOT have one "leader" who teaches his/her theology!
