To Lenna,
No I do not know anything about what went on at Liberty University. That is a long article attached to the link you provided. I did glance over it and it looks like there's something wrong at LU. I will revisit it later and look for a second and maybe third source for confirmation. I'll admit to being naive about LU.

IF he was not in submission to elders or some structured group as unto the LORD, if 'he was not answerable' as you say, he was not operating by biblical principals and pretty much doomed to fail.
Thanks. That's very reasonable. You will find other sources as well...sadly. It's all very sad.

here is another article from 2015 that attests to ongoing and repetitive bad behavior

and another more recent one:

Jerry Falwell Jr. — president of Liberty University (one of the world’s largest Christian universities) and a prominent supporter of President Trump — has made headlines many times before. Most recently, however, the headlines have focused on a slow-moving series of scandals that threaten to bring down, or at least sully the reputation of, one of evangelical Christianity’s most famous families.

Earlier this week, Politico published a story connecting him and his wife Becki Falwell to a host of questionable real estate deals; possible self-dealing efforts to financially benefit members of the Falwell family; online poll manipulation; and visits to Miami nightclubs. (Liberty University forbids students from attending dances.) According to employees of the University, Falwell Jr. runs a “dictatorship” at Liberty, but said that speaking out about his conduct was necessary.

As I said, that is between GOD, those to whom he is submitted and him.
Yeah, you can keep yelling it. It's not a Biblical matter as far as him being president of the school again. You don't put people with those type of issues in authority over vulnerable young people. He can restore his relationship with God, that's fine. But back into to that position, no, you protect the youth, not him.

Let me say this slowly. A picture taken aboard his YACHT!

OK, maybe it is just my eyes alone but first, who's the woman beside him? Did I miss that notation in his posting that he shared? She's unbuttoned too.
Secondly, when this first hit a headline on one of the MSM feeds that pops when I go to my email account, the header made it sound like he exposed his secret Sir in the pic.

That's the problem with having a board that can outnumber you in the votes against you remaining in the University your daddy founded. Wow, a fat man showing his Dunlap. His tummy dun-lapped over his belt. That's it. Nothing more to see there!

Gracious! If that board is that dedicated to Puritan Snowflakeism, do they combust when men's Haynes underwear commercials air on their really expensive HD TV's?

How many boarders have they lost to the Victoria's Secret commercials? Instant combustion or what?

What's next Mr.Falwell? Are you doubling your security for fear a pyre may pop up in the middle of the night with your name on all the kindling at its base. "THE MAN HAS A GUT AND WEARS UNDERWEAR! STONE HIM!":cautious:Really?

Jerry! Jerrrrry! You should have fought like heck my brother! Tell them to their faces, hey, at least I wear underwear!

Apparently, Mr. Falwell has a LONG History of such indiscretions........ this may have been the proverbial "straw."

Anyway, I will pray that God will open his eyes to the need for repentance............and to clean up his act. He could STILL be a productive member of the Church IF he returns to God and defeats the temptations of the flesh.

Yeah, as I said, this is not a one off thing, it's an issue and he needs to deal with it. I didn't care to see the picture, but some of the comments that there was nothing wrong with it made me go and look. All I can say is if my husband had done that and shown that little respect for me and our vows, he'd get his walking papers. My husband would never disgrace me in such a way, nor would I him. Not saying he can't repent, but you don't put a person back in the middle of temptation.

He stepped down, changed his mind, then stepped down again this week. Seems both he and his wife were up to no good. As I said, there are bigger issues here.

really?

so it's ok as long as the entire world is acting a certain way?

smh
No. Compared to people stepping down over affairs, corruption, rape, and murder these days, a picture with your underwear showing (which is what I understood the situation to be at the time based on the posts in this thread) is tame.

I guess you haven't heard the latest

he has just resigned over more sexual misconduct and his wife was apparently having an affair for years

why are people so eager to protect people in positions of authority who are on the wide path that leads to hell?

The fact that you think a man exposing himself in that manner with a beautiful young lady who is not is wife is ok or tame tells me a lot about how far the church has fallen. The fact that it doesn't bother you bothers me.

It is rather sad that Falwell made a fool of himself for nothing. Particularly at this time.

Now that the rest of the story has come out, goodbye Mr Falwell
