Nope. What I know, no man has taught me.

Man teaches what he knows but, the Holy Spirit teaches what He knows.......

Who do you want to listen to?
Lafftur do you find that sometimes you interpret scripture differently than what is generically taught? I do. I sometimes dont know whether it is God or not?

Verse 27 of 1 John 2 is specifically addressing "the babes [in Christ]" (and about a particular thing).

Consider the following:

1 John 2:12 -

"I write unto you, little children [teknia; this Grk word is the more general word, applied to ALL of the 3 sub-categories of believers in this overall passage (Fathers, Young Men, Little Children)], because your sins are [/have been] forgiven you for his name's sake."

--note: this Grk word ('teknia') in v.12 is used again in the section starting in v.28, where the thought resumes following the parenthetical section involving a DIFFERENT Grk word in v.13c /18a, "paidia"-'little children' (this, in contrast to the "fathers" and the "young men," here)

--so the parenthetical section addressed to the "paidia - little children" [i.e. the babes in Christ, or youngun's] is found in v.13c,18-27, and verse 27 says (of them) "ye abide ['present indicative active,' not 'imperative' here]"

--These "little children/paidia" in particular are being warned of "seducers"/"antichrists" who "deny the Son" (and thus, so doing, the seducers/antichrists "have not the Father"... but of these "little children [paidia]," it said in v.13c "ye have known the Father" [unlike these deceivers, who deny the Son and thus have not the Father])

--"[V.27] As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him [present indicative[/I] active]."

Verse 28 then resumes with addressing the whole, with the word "teknia" the general term used which applies to ALL these 3 sub-categories of believers.

_______

I agree with Eph4 and also 1Cor12:12 (where in that context, v.21 is informing us that we don't wanna be among those saying to another body part: "I have no need of you" ;) )

Yes, and it is of God because His ways are HIGHER than ours and we ONLY know the Truth by His Holy Spirit.

That is the beauty of telling others “the Holy Spirit speaks directly to me”

No, not true. It’s NOT only to me - it’s ONLY to the Truth.

The Holy Spirit in every believer will bear witness to Truth when spoken in others - no matter who they are. BUT, the Holy Spirit ONLY bears witness to the Truth - no respecter of person.

Do you want to be taught by the servant of the Lord or by a Pharisee? Know the difference.

What’s wrong with relying on the Holy Spirit to teach you? Seriously?!

Do you really want to rely on man to teach you when God has made His Holy Spirit available to ALL believers?!!!

Well, I did not suggest that nor imply it. :)

What I had said was this (in that last line of my post to which you seem to have solely directed your comment):

[...Eph4...] also 1Cor12:12 (where in that context, v.21 is informing us that we don't wanna be among those saying to another body part [i.e. to another member of the BODY of Christ (/believers, who are humans)]: "I have no need of you" ;) )
... as if one were to say, "be gone with ya, you TEACHERS, you! Be gone, I say!" ;)

Something like that. You know, "I have no need of you." (1Cor12:21)

Who do you listen to?
The Holy Spirit inspired the writing of the Word, so by listening to Eph 4:11 I am listening to the Holy Spirit. If I were to say that I do not need the body of Christ to experience the maturity of growth that God has ordained for me I would be resisting the Holy Spirit.

Not disagreeing but also...

Ephesians 4:
11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

Please........the GREATEST BIBLE TEACHER is.........the Holy Spirit.

But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
1 John 2:27 - https://www.biblegateway.com/passage?search=1 John 2:27&version=KJV

Just sit with a heart of humility and desire to know and love God.....then, read the Bible- Psalm 23.....and ask the Holy Spirit questions as you read......He’ll answer you in your thoughts and show you secrets in the scriptures......

These secrets will give your spirit life and you will know the Truth of God’s Word and the Truth will set you free!(y)

again, this is not true.

if it were true, God would not have given teachers as one of the gifts for the edification of the church

I would strongly advise against sitting and letting something talk into your mind, that is a dangerous practice

you do not seem to know the truth yourself or you would quit telling people they do not need anyone to teach them

in fact, the Holy Spirit may lead people away from false teachers, but He will never tell someone they need no one.

the Holy Spirit is not a part of the body of Christ. no one has ever said they do not need the Holy Spirit in this forum that I have seen yet you consistently make comments that indicate you believe you alone know anything about Him

you disregard what people say. everyone has said they pray for guidance and ask God to help them understand and He does this through His Spirit

however, if a person does not have a solid biblical foundation, they will be led astray by their own ego in thinking they do not need anyone.

I would suggest you are not hearing from the Holy Spirit if you keep telling people they do not need what God has provided for their safety and instruction

that is a true statement, but ONLY if a person is impressed by the Holy Spirit and not 'another' spirit

the Holy Spirit does not speak for Himself but only guides into all truth but a person will have difficulty accepting the truth if they reject it right from the start

no one has all the truth but God Himself and yet He will not force people to believe and He will not lead them astray

rejecting what God Himself provides for our edification is not a good thing to do and it is even worse to tell others to do the same

What's wrong with both? Scripture mentions both, or do we just ditch the Scriptures and get led (hopefully) by the Holy Spirit with no Scriptures to test the 'spirits'.?

Got to ask the Holy Spirit questions while you read the Word of God.......seeking God, not just reading....seeking.

Just like those writers- be lead by the Holy Spirit into the depth of understanding of God’s Word.

BSF International is a wonderful global bible study I have always loved to attend that would encourage me to depend on the Holy Spirit for help with my Bible Study homework questions.

After homework, I could read commentaries if I wanted to but, they STRONGLY encouraged asking the Holy Spirit FIRST for understanding.

I’ve always been amazed at the depth of insight the Holy Spirit gives - so life giving!(y)

Go checkout BSF!(y)

Nothing wrong with doing both, BUT if all I do is read commentaries, listen to sermons etc and not learn to SEEK understanding from the Holy Spirit then, I can easily believe a lie as truth.

I enjoy Bible studies and listen to sermons, Bible teachers BUT, I ONLY depend on the Holy Spirit for understanding - the Holy Spirit has to bear witness that what they say is true.

In 1 John 2:27 - John was warning believers of being seduced by false teachers so, he encouraged them to depend on the Holy Spirit to know the Truth.
