Easy... Sola Scripura... Bible doesn't specifically condemn it...
It never made sense to me either until this guy, strict Sola Scripura, literally.
(i've been meaning to ask him what he thinks about the trinity. he should reject it based on his method)

And after chatting with him on this and a few other things I understand. If a person claims to be strict Sola Scripura then they really should have no qualms about abortion. In fact he actually pulled out OT scripture to say this is the closest thing to abortion in the bible and God used it... He can present his case better than but...

U would probably say all the things i did but he defines life as starting at birth and he won't budge on it.

At 8 weeks the baby can feel pain. Inflicting pain is an immoral act...
U can build a moral argument from that, i did. Inflicting pain is immoral
He's out of his league. Its obvious he has little love for the truth and less for babies.

I've been against abortion since I was 10 yrs old. Long before I fell in love with the bible. It was just logical to me. Back then the argument I heard was 'they don't know when it should be considered human". I thought, that doesn't mean you can kill it. It means until you know that, you can't. I've used this analogy, if I'm hunting with a friend and I see movement in some bushes. I'm not sure if it's a deer or my friend. Do I still shoot?

The bible reveals a God who became a zygote in the womb. The most Sacred being, creator of all. Entered a life that in my country it's lawful to.....its healthy to kill..

You would think once a human life has begun, and we know with certainty when that has happened, it would be protected as much as any other human life.

Scripture uses the term “with child” to depict a pregnant woman specifically indicating that it is a child within the womb. The word “pregnant” is not a biblical word and is a very poor choice to describe a child within the womb.

So yes, scripture is anti abortion. It is very clear.

hahaha im laughing at the hunting analogy... True true all true, i agree...

For this guy, unless the bible doesn't say "thou shalt not ........." then its all good...
He uses Genesis 2:7 to say that life begins at birth. I know, i know... LoL

Anyway, this conversation usually leads into an even more interesting one with even more different opinions...

Like i said, its not my argument but he would buy that. This is the definition of pregnant according to google
Pregnant - having a child or young developing in the uterus

To him its a fetus, an unborn child... Anyway thats not me, im anti abortion... I was just saying that i understand his view that unless the bible is clear about it then its ok, the word abortion doesn't even appear

Yes, but using scripture only, it is a child not a fetus.

"a two or three month old fetus is not a human being, not a "baby" Who says this? "That alone is what science and common sense say. "

Yet this is not all true "Science Can't Say When a Baby's Life Begins". Which one are we running with?

Fact.. no ones life at any point belongs to another. A woman as I see it is so blessed to carry that child. Some think because they carry the baby they have the right to do with it as they please. Yet there is no way they would even have that baby if not for some man. Odd that man get no say what so ever. Oh after its born for some reason they do.

God told man and woman to have children. It was never OK to abort a child in Gods eyes. And how happy and blessed are we that no one aborted us.

At conception an individual human being has entered it's very own life. Whether or not It's viable or a person or has a human soul none of that matters. The llife of that one celled human is the same life when that human is 80. If the one celled human is killed its more evil than killing the 80 year old because the 80 yr old has lived a long life.

Nah, if he has jumped through the " it's not a baby till it's born" hoop, he obviously isn't a reasonable man. He probably enjoys watching folks beat their heads against the wall.o_O
Thanks for asking

Ye mate he won't budge from that position...
I did convince him to change his mind from "its just a bunch of cells and tissue" at 8 weeks to "its an unborn baby/ fetus"
Thats the best i could do but who knows, maybe its a few steps in the right direction that will get him to eventually see the murder of the most innocent humans, like we do

If the faith needed to believe God is performed in the womb not seen . We can understand why David after receiving a revelation is child was given the faith and that he could go to where the child is . David also from the womb knew Christ.

Psalm 139:13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.

When he went about his business many questioned his motive .

God is not longer bringing any new revelation to confirm the unseen things. We defend those who cannot defend their own selves , by the faith made available, as it is written

Some receive the wake up call when they begin eating meat . Being weaned form the milk of the word .it teaches us he is gracious. The milk helps us to repent. . a reminder of His grace that works in us .

He would probably ask where do u draw the line between fetus and child?

@Benadam

Just a reminder that im just playing devils advocate here. Im anti abortion
I remembered some of the scripture he used to support his position...

here the priest is to put the woman under this curse—“may the Lord cause you to become a curse among your people when he makes your womb miscarry and your abdomen swell. May this water that brings a curse enter your body so that your abdomen swells or your womb miscarries.” Numbers 5:21-22 (NIV)
God uses abortion as a punishment here...

If someone has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not obey his father and mother and will not listen to them when they discipline him, his father and mother shall take hold of him and bring him to the elders at the gate of his town. They shall say to the elders, “This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a glutton and a drunkard.” Then all the men of his town are to stone him to death. You must purge the evil from among you. All Israel will hear of it and be afraid. Deuteronomy 21:18-21 (NIV)
An atheist actually pulled out this on me once and said " God lets u kill your child without him even being heard"

So theres enough there for someone to take that view. Especially if your like him and take sola scriptura very literally...
He wants it written in the Bible plain as day

I would really like to know this magical place in a woman's body where a "fetus" ,which means baby in Latin, becomes a baby. Is it in the birth canal or before? Inside mom, not a baby, instant it pops out, baby!! Yay!! It must be the magical unicorn dust, or is it fairy? Haven't figured that out yet...

There are two main reasons why sola scripture is inadequate...
1/ Things that don't appear in the bible, like abortion, are considered to be fine
2/ Interpretations of the bible become subjective when left to the individual creating many divisions
You shared an excellent picture and I thank you for doing so, but I respectfully disagree with your views on Sola Scripture.

Abortion is under the guidelines of thou shalt not kill, and prayerful reading of Scripture with the guidance of the Holy Spirit enriches people with God’s Truth.

The problem with opposing views is that some people want Scripture to fit their social agenda and see things in a biased manner, but otherwise my defense of Scripture stands firm.

Yep, have had pro-choicers use that one on me before. There are only two translations that use the word miscarry. Seems they have badly translated words into English. But I never use the Bible when I debate abortion, I use science because they can't argue science, it's their sacred cow.

OT before Jesus came and stood in for our sins. The Bible doesn't say it's a sin to shoot someone with a gun and kill them either. The Bible doesn't say it's wrong to watch porn. Neither of those words are in the Bible, yet the concept is there. Murder is sin, lust is a sin. Abortion is sin. The concept is there. If you're going to be that literal there are a lot of things not mentioned in the Bible that we would have to get rid of. Common sense would tell you differently. But again, I don't use the Bible when talking to unbelievers, I use science, their "bible".

I would point to Psalm 139. Before I was formed, fully developed, the Lord saw my substance and knew of my existence.

Psalm 139
13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.
14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

Yes, I have. We've now moved past abortion to infanticide in this country if progressives get their way. It's horrific to me. And the truth should be revealed. I'm on secular forums a lot and debate about this. When we met my husband had a different view on abortion than he does now. We got heated about it at one point so I stopped arguing and just kept stating facts. Over the yrs. he's against abortion now as much as I am. These myths are so ingrained, people are still using 1970s talking points. It's a blob, one lady told me, like flubber. And I was like "lady it's 2020 out there, stick your head out, this isn't 1970!! We know differently than that now. We have medical and scientific evidence of when life begins." smh It's unreal. But I keep talking about it and getting the facts out there. Hopefully minds will be changed, and hearts.

Ahahaha thats gold, at it worked...:)
Most women appeal to emotion and most men appeal to facts. ;)

I've only known a hand full of people that have had abortion, with their partners that two hands full of people and they all regret it.:(

Abortions promote and reward promiscuity and irresponsibility... Sex and marriage used to be sacred...
Now with dating apps i don't even know what it has become

It can become very emotional this debate cos it the kids, vax debate has the same intensity...
But abortion i usually try to appeal to emotion cos for me just the sight of any dead human is unpleasant...
Seeing a dismembered baby in a bowl.... Geez... U must be heartless not to be moved by it

It's a blob, one lady told me, like flubber. And I was like "lady it's 2020 out there, stick your head out, this isn't 1970!! We know differently than that now. Hehehe :) ye i know... "Its just a bunch of miscellaneous cells and tissue" this guys says...
I remember in science, mid 90s, they taught us that the human cell was a blob with 2 or 3 other blobs inside it.

ps. I just saw u gave 2 angry faces and went and looked why... They were sad faces... ok
