If you can persuade him to understand the difference in what you are telling him, you are a better teacher than I. I have tried relentlessly to explain to him that "a babe in Christ" has been reborn of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Eph 2:5 explains that we have been quickened together with Christ. We do not become "babes in Christ" until we are reborn of the Holy Spirit, and have to gradually grow into maturity the same way that we were at our natural birth. I quoted him Isaiah 28:9-10, which explains this growing process, which he did not take note of.

No body is sure of his point. (that is the things throughfaith says) He gives Scripture verses some of the weirdest interpretations ever. For the rest of you Corban and Forestgreen and others, you are just whistling in the wind, he does not hear you. Nor me but I have just about given up on responding to anything he says.

...But still...doesn't a natural man not receive the things of the spirit because he doesn't believe in the things of the spirit, and if he were to start accepting the things of the spirit he would start becoming a believer growing into a spiritual man?

14But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
15But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
If you read it like this
" 14But the Carnal believer receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
15But he that is a mature believer judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.

Gal 6.1
1¶Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual ( Mature ) , restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

Yeah? Is that why none of us can come up with an explanation that can't be refuted?

Luke 21:15 for I will give you the right words and such wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to reply or refute you!

Well the more we discuss it and try to figure it out the more we grow.

1 cor 3 2I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
Notice these believers ,the same ones Paul calls saint's , justified , sanctified are UNABLE to bear with the meat . They are unable to understand the things of the Spirit the deeper things Paul can have understood by the mature. 1 cor 2.6
.I understand calvinism desperately needs this verse to say 'lost people cannot believe the Gospel unless they are regenerated first. Thats the irony , calvinists cannot understand the things of this verse .
From what I have heard about what John Calvin believes, I do not agree with many of his thoughts. I have never read his writings, or anyone else's writings. My only source of study is comparing scripture with scripture and if they do not all harmonize, then I am misinterpreting them.

You are the one that is grossly misinterpreting the Corinthian letter. The natural man cannot discern the things of the Spirit until after he has been quickened with a new fleshy heart whose conscience can be pricked when he breaks a spiritual law.

When Peter, in his sermon on pentecost, accused the Jews of crucifying Jesus, they were "pricked in their heart, and said, "men and brethren, what must we do?" The response of these Jews came from a regenerated heart, unlike the Jews that Steven was preaching to, with the same sermon as Peter was preaching, and these Jews, whose heart had not been changed in regeneration, were "cut to the heart" and stoned Steven to death.

Once a person has been born again, they start their new life as "babes in Christ" in the same manner as we all did in our youth, as we gradually learned things in our growth to maturity..

You are trying to equate the natural man the same as the immature babe in Christ saying that he can understand spiritual things from the milk of the word the same way that the babes in Christ do, and that simply is not true, because his heart has not been changed in regeneration. The newly born babes in Christ have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. as soon as they are born.

Good statements sir but they will for sure fall on deft ears. Some of us are rejoicing in them, keep up the good work for the cause of Christ.

I also agree with your view of John Calvin. Somethings were great, some went to far.

Absolutely not! God is the one who makes one alive through the work of The Holy Spirit. (John 3:3-10)

Apart from this regenerative birth, nothing can be discerned correctly in the Bible. This regenerative birth is a secret work of God, which our Lord called being Born from Above. IT then allows the person to do as in:

1Cor 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in words which man's wisdom is teaching, but which the Spirit is teaching; combining spiritual things with spiritual words.

This then leads to believing the things they can now understand.

[Is Jesus the Saviour of all men?

1 Timothy 4:10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe. ]

Yes....not the jews only...
Now do you think all men are saved?

[Wait for the ' all kinds of men]

So once again you have heard the truth, turned from it, and posted this foolish post

It has to be all kinds of men.:cautious::cautious::cautious:

ARE ALL MEN SAVED???:unsure::unsure::unsure:

The verse does not say...Is He the potential Saviour of all men everywhere.

There is no other savior given among men, among mankind, among the children scattered worldwide.

Your comment is naive and quite foolish,:cautious:

Calvinists give too much credit to Theologians , especially dead ones with beards .
God has revealed Himself in scripture.
Biblical theologians believe it.
Scripture is written that we can know and believe God.

There is so many Presuppositions and assumptions in this one comment I barely know where to begin .
/////You are the one that is grossly misinterpreting the Corinthian letter. The natural man cannot discern the things of the Spirit until after he has been quickened with a new fleshy heart whose conscience can be pricked when he breaks a spiritual law./////
This is begging the question . Your assuming the ' Natural man ' is a unsaved man . And your assuming that the ' spiritual man ' is any saved person ( correct me if I'm wrong ) Both of these terms are loaded terms for some. But in the text they are not . Paul is simply talking about Fleshy behaviour from believers and the point that they need to mature . Verse 6 of chapter 2 explains the mature do understand the mature things ( the deeper wisdom of God ) The Holy Spirit has been given to all believers
1 cor 6.19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
Clearly these ( non mature ) fleshy belivers are struggling.

1¶It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife.

Unless they " be transformed by the renewing of their minds they will be stuck on the milk struggling.
chapter 3 explains the Natural/;fleshy/ carnal / babes problems.
1¶And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
2I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
3For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
4For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?

NOTICE THEY ARE UNABLE !!!!!!! BELIEVERS UNABLE TO BEAR AND UNDERSTAND THE THINGS OF GOD PAUL WANTS THEM TO GROW IN . THE WISDOM HE SHARES WITH THE MATURE .

Being 'pricked 'in the heart is not ' irresistible grace by any stretch . its simply a reaction man has in response to the message. Your comment would serve as a test example in 'begging the question '.

You do not grow into being a spiritual man. You are quickened by God into being a spiritual man, Eph 2.
The word quicken is used in the King James Version of the Bible, and it means “revive or make alive.” If something is living, it is “quick”; to “quicken” something is to bring it to life or restore it to a former flourishing condition. The phrase the quick and the dead contrasts the word dead with the word quick—they are antonyms.

In this spiritual revival, God keeps making it grow. Growth happens gradually. It's called spiritual growth and it comes through taking in knowledge.
1 Cor 3:6 I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.
1 Peter 2:2 Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation,

Also, you're not saved until you're saved...until you wake up in the resurrection.
Matthew 24:13 ...the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.

its only ' weird ' to you because you have given your sense making to the system, which tells you what each doctrine has to mean . Then you track back to it and not what the bible actually says .

in spite of all the calvinists using this catch phrase over and over and over , 'the Natural man 'is not a description of an unbeliever. Paul is not introducing a non sequitor in verse 14 to tell the Corinthians about a lost man not able to understand the Gospel . Nor is the term ' Spirtual ' used solely to mean ' a person who has the Holy Spirit . Always challenge a " buzz word " and a Christian catch phrase . God does not refer to unbelievers as ' The natural man ' . Yes we can spin other verses to try make it sound the same . 'that which is born of the flesh is flesh ' , ' natural use ''by nature ' ect ,but these all have a context. Just like the other buzz words calvinism has lumped into one meaning also . 'election ' , predestination, Called , chosen , ordained , determined, before, beginning, dead ect . Even non Calvinists can no longer read these words without thinking 'the doctrine of such and such . People are triggered by years of being exposed to Christianese and bad theology .
