How do I grow in God? Like in Heb. 6: 1-3.

In Romans 1 it says that the things of God are shown by the creation (v.20). So all we have to do is watch a baby grow to a mature man. This is all that is needed;
- Much patience in the early years. Young Christians need time and need diaper changes
- A steady diet of nourishing milk - Reading God's Word out loud with the mouth every day
- Teachers who are gifted and "rightly cut the Word of God"
- Occasional chastisement. Mostly the Lord will do this (Heb.12), but sometimes the Church must administer censure (Matt.18; 1st Cor.5)
- A steady diet of "the Word of righteousness" - Applying God's Word to our daily walk
- Fiery trials to purge the old Nature (1st Pet.4:12)
- Studying, or looking upon Christ (2nd Cor.3:18)
- Falling in love with Christ
- Walking the same road that Christ walked - one of reconciliation, buffeting, suffering and rejection
- Passing through failure, not to fail for itself, but to learn that we need Christ at all times and in all things
We are saints even if a babe . Paul called the carnal Christian s at corinth ' saints ' .
Isaiah 28:9-10, Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little, and there a little.
I found it very difficult to grow in the Lord. My church taught the new testament but they said God changed His mind about many things told of in that testament so I what I understood of the Lord was like reading the last chapters of a book without knowing the beginning. I couldn't understand that beginning. Why the flood killing all men? Why a world filled with idol worshippers, how does that relate to us today?
For me, the key to growth beyond that baby food was to find a man who could understand the old testament and teach it. This man must be a Christian, belonging to Christ. The study must also not be influenced by doctrines of one church but only doctrines of the Lord. The study must also relate the two testaments. Through this study, based entirely on scripture, I could grow.

Paul's advice to us in the Body of Christ is to make sure you build on the foundation he laid upon for all of us, in 1 Cor 3
10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
There is only one way that pleases God. Which is Trusting by placing and maintaining your Faith exclusively in Christ and Him Crucified ONLY! (Matthew 7:14, Romans 8:2, Gal. 2:20-21)

As believers, it is important that we keep “first things first.” Without the Cross, there is no Resurrection! Without the death of Jesus on Calvary, there would be no need for His Resurrection.
Both are forever connected. But the Resurrection remains dependent upon the Cross. The Cross is never dependent upon the Resurrection! Therefore, It is impossible to experience Resurrection life unless you first embrace the crucified life. So let us die daily to self and thereby experience Resurrection life, just as God intended.

Out of 603,550 men who were readied for war that came out of Egypt under the power of God (Numbers 1:44-46), only two took their inheritance; Joshua (a type of Christ) and Caleb (a type of the body of Christ) (Matthew 7:14). There is only one message that changes the body of Christ into the image of Christ, and that is Jesus Christ and Him Crucified.
And the foundation is love. It is established by God the Father and we are told of it in the old testament, for it is what Christ fulfilled.
As we study the old testament, we find that Christ is the foundation of the old testament. As soon as sin entered the world, God gave blood on the altar as God states it in the old testament for the forgiveness of sin we so we may live eternally. Christ's blood was symbolized by the blood of animals, as they asked for forgiveness and grace was given to them, it was through the blood of Christ who came into the world physically 4,000 years later. Then as is told in Matthew, the saints walked the street for Christ fulfilled the salvation promised.
All the old testament is a preview of Christ, and when we understand that testament, we enter a deeper understanding of Christ. The temple, the priests, all of it was fulfilled in Christ.

But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

After you are well acquainted with the Holy Spirit, then you can listen to the teachings of man because you will be able to discern a Truth from a lie.
Spending time with the Holy Spirit is KEY to understanding the scriptures, life, the Kingdom of God, your calling, the power to be an effective witness of Jesus Christ, to know and love God more than self.
As I said, Paul has laid the foundation for us in the Body of Christ, from Romans to Philemon.
As he commanded us in 1 Cor 3:12, we are to build on that foundation.
Paul also reminded us elsewhere in Romans 2:16

Paul was a Pharisee that was sent to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ the Messiah to the Gentiles.
This was like Peter being sent to the House of Cornelius.
Neither Peter or Paul wanted to go but, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit sent them both because it was the Father’s Will that the Gentiles be engrafted.....just another part of the process of The Kingdom of God coming to the Earth.....

But I have found that if a man has extensive knowledge of scripture and relies strictly on that scripture, it is very useful to use his knowledge.
The Holy Spirit must use what we have fed our minds. That is why it is so very important that we feed our minds wholesome food, approved by the lord.
I agree that Peter was very reluctant to go the Cornelius house.
Which scripture, however, tells you that Paul also did not wanted to go to the gentiles?
The 'way of the cross ' only Jesus could do . We don't try to follow what He did . its impossible . Again ( and correct me if I.m wrong ) Your teaching works salvation. Which is the opposite of rhe Gospel message . Obedience . 'crucified life ' Acts of onedience ', deeds of faith 'are all ' works '. Now all of those things are good but not to stay saved , be saved ect . That is disobedience to the Gospel message and cannot do anything.
Paul was raised a Pharisee. He had met Jesus Christ on the road to Damascus with a heart to kill the believers in Jesus Christ....
After Paul’s conversion, Paul wanted to reach the Jews because he understood their ignorant blindness but, Jesus said No, go to the Gentiles.
Paul just didn’t understand the time of the Gentiles and how the Jews were blinded to their Messiah.

As one poster said earlier. We do not need a man to teach us and warns of of those who say we do (antichrists) . Some teach the doctrines of men as the things of men. Learning what not laying again, again, again over and over. . the offering of dead works as a offering (towards) God. Or faith towards God .Like those in .verse 6 below And not getting under the faith of God that works in us to both will and do His good pleasure. But revert back to something they could perform as self edifying . They make it about their own actions they crucify to themselves. Not permitted by God (verse 3) Some would call them sign gifts.

Over and over crucify to themselves putting him to shame . As if one demonstration to the world was not enough .
Study how the word faith is used . Where it comes from as to the owner. Coming from God living ,or coming from self. dead
From ourselves as not permitted or not agreement with God is consider dead works,
