Oxygen was on the third day. Well most likely...
If oxygen only came on the sixth day, what did the animals (birds) on day 5 breathe? :p

On day six humans were created.

Q: Is Genesis 2 a look back at the creation of mankind or a different set of people (Adam and Eve) being created?

Genesis 2 says no plant was growing the earth, they were created mature in Genesis 1. So to grow (new) plants and crops there was a man created, Adam.
In Genesis 1 man and woman are created in the image of God. But in Genesis 2 woman gets created in the image of Adam and is not equal. She is created for the man.
In Genesis 1 people are allowed to eat all seedbearing plants, in Genesis 2 they are forbidden to eat one fruit.

People lived almost 1000 years at the beginning, now we die at young age.
I would think Genesis 2 is a commentary on the breath of life. God breathed spirit life into man and gave oxygen to maintain life .

The description in chapter two begins preparing for oxygen

Genesis 2 :5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.

Oxygen was there as supernatural photosynthesis on day two. Before the Sun was placed day four.

Within the first three days before he found sin in the heart of the father of lies and it corrupted the reason of God .(Genesis 6:12 }

Ezehiah 28; 13;15 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.

In the beginning God was the light .Three things that make God, God .

God is light. God is Spirit. God is love. And not that only can he create it but it is the very essence .. To show he is the beginning. And he does not rely on nature. . . created things . I would offer. We simply do not know Christ after the corrupted rudiments of this world .

When he said; "let there be light" his glorious presence came into view. His glory departed day three. Three used to indicate the end of the matter throughout the Bible.

Pagan religion accredits life to the Sun. His Glory will return in the new heaven and earth and there will be no Sun or moon, no night.

It would seem the life expectancy was changed to 70 yrs in the Psalms . 1000 a vanity proved not to be enough time. even twice would not.

Ecclesiastes 6:6 Yea, though he live a thousand years twice told, yet hath he seen no good: do not all go to one place?

Are day one and day four related? The sun was already there but on day four God speaks in plural about the lights. Giving them a true purpose for earth. On day one there was already a division between night and day but there is no reference to our moon.

God speaks on day four of the lights for seasons and festivals. No moon no seasons (as we know them now). It’s on day four when our moon creates a stable climate on earth and tidal waves. After that life gets created.

So the lights created on day 4 are created after the sun on day 1. The night and day were clearly divided on day one.

In Genesis 1 God created and made...

And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
(Gen 2:3)

And He created and made, in general, the plants, animals and man.

The man created in chapter 1 is a spirit being (immaterial) in the image of God. Notice he is male and female, singular and plural. He is the spirit of man in the Image of God who is a Spirit.

In Chapter 2 God is not creating or making... He is forming and planting and making to grow.

And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Gen 2:7-9)

Notice also the spirit/breath of life created in chapter 1 is now breathed into a body and man becomes a living soul.

So in Chapter 2 God is specific: Chapter 1 he made plants, in Chapter 2 he plants a Garden and makes it grow. In Chapter 1 he creates mankind and in Chapter 2 he forms a man (and later a woman).

It is therefore not two separate creation accounts or a retelling of the same account... Chapter 1 is "the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created", summarised and the conditions described in 2:5-6. Thereafter God takes what he created and made, and interacts with it in particular. There is no reason why planting the Garden and making plants grow and this interaction of forming man could not have happened also on day 5th and 6th day respectively, but it is NOT the events described in Chapter 1.

Hmmmm..........the name of the fruit was ........ well, I can name the tree. Does that count?

It was the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. The fruit must have tasted bittersweet.

Okay. I do not know the name of the fruit. :(

The two chapters overlap It is the same thing one is a general view

“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1:26-28‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Because it says both male and female were created that means it’s an overlap when in chapter two we’re seeing details of what that creation looked like

The account resets here

“These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens,”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭2:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Then you start seeing more detail of how adam was made after Gods image he created the body but the life in man came Out from God this is a detailed account of the statement made in chapter 1 it’s an overlap

“And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew:

for the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.

But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.

And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭2:5-7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

God didn’t just form us , our spirit of life came out from almighty God.

Why can they not be two separate stories? The people and plants from Genesis 1 could be very different then those from Genesis 2.

I have read your entire post, but I still miss it. Might be my fault.

Q: What did God create on the 6th Day of Creation?
Beasts of the field. Oxygen breathing creatures to include mankind .

Having prepared food and oxygen, green trees on day two before the Sun was brought into creation .

Mankind is assigned the number six.

Three is used to denote the end of a matter 666.
Oxygen was on the third day. Well most likely...
If oxygen only came on the sixth day, what did the animals (birds) on day 5 breathe? :p

On day six humans were created.
Well.......both of you (@garee and @Fundamental) are correct but, you didn't name EVERYTHING God created on Day 6........God created:

- cattle
- all creeping living creatures (bugs, insects, rodents, animals, reptiles, etc.)
- all beasts (large animals)
- man (male and female - Adam and Eve)

Genesis 1:24-31 King James Version (KJV)
24 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.

25 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.

31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

The Light on Day 1 of Creation is NOT the same light of the sun, moon, planets and stars that were created on Day 4.

The Light on Day 1 is the Light of God Himself - The Light that fills Heaven with Light. At the end of all things, in the New Earth there will no longer be sun, moon - the Light of God will be the Light of the Earth - just as it is in Heaven.

The Light on Day 4 is the Light of the Sun, Moon, Planets and Stars that would be needed in the Physical Realm upon the Earth.

When Jesus Christ was born into the Physical Realm, the Light of God from Day 1 entered into the Physical Realm and walked among us. Now, this same Light (of Jesus Christ) is in every believer on the Earth.

We are the Children of Light, NOT the Children of the Night. The Kingdom of God is the Kingdom of Light and the kingdom of Satan is the kingdom of darkness.

I honestly still doubt this. I fully understand this is open for debate and questionable. Yet it seems very clear to me that God speaks about the lights for seasons and festivals on day four. Which are the moon and the stars. The sun is dividing day and night already on day one.

But it’s quite alright we disagree on this. I don’t believe in an old earth as well.

Then where is Lilith gone too? Adam’s first wife? Or am I taught too occult in this and is Lillith a myth but Adam real? ^:D

But Adam was created in the garden of Eden, east of earth. I truly wonder if Adam and Eve aren’t a different set of people then we see in Genesis 1.

Why are these stories divided and shortened in context? Moses took this cheese with him from Egypt. Our real creation story is more then 2 pages we currently read in our Bible.

Lilith is a Jewish myth. The only help mete for Adam is one woman......Eve, the one that is bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh.

This thread is BIBLE Trivia.....answers must be found exactly in scripture - not opinion or secular folklore.

The topic of Lilith could be on another thread in the Miscellaneous Forum......

I do think there were other people or beings on Earth before Adam and Eve because God told them to REplenish the Earth.......

Genesis 1:28 (KJV)
28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
