What does Scripture say in Acts 2:38?

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

The gift of the Holy Spirit, the gift of eternal life, and the gift of salvation (justification) are all given at the same time.
Unless you believe water baptism is necessary to recieve the Holy Spirit?

" Repent of your sins " to be saved is to keep the law to be saved . Sin is transgression of the law .

Amen and agree.... Lordship salvation also distorts the Gospel.
Repentance is away from law keeping towards Christ and His full and complete work.

Do you mean 'change your mind ' ( repent) or 'penance ',feeling sorry , turn from sins , stop sinning ect ? as different groups don't mean the same on 'repent '.
I thinks it all one work. We who have the mind of Christ know who does the turning so that we can in turn change our minds. Two turnings. One work. . not of ourselves.

Jeremiah 31:18 I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself thus; Thou hast chastised me, and I was chastised, as a bullock unaccustomed to the yoke: turn thou me, and I shall be turned; for thou art the Lord my God. (the one with the power) Surely after that I was turned, I repented; and after that I was instructed, I smote upon my thigh: I was ashamed, yea, even confounded, because I did bear the reproach of my youth.(feel sorry)

No man can perform the work of repenting unless he is working in them to both will and do His good pleasure. He does the turning. We are not saved by any work we could do

Amen!

So then you have a new religion where no one needs to accept Jesus. The whole world is granted salvation automatically.
No accepting Jesus (repentance) is required. You don't have to be sorry for your sins or believe Jesus.

No your equating recieving Jesus ( john 1 .12 ) is on the basis of ' being sorry for your sins ' . its through Faith , not through penance or turning from sins or ' stop sinning ' . Thats a false Gospel . ' Through faith ' is not ' repent from sins '
1 cor 15 . 1-4 / Rom 10 ,9 / eph 2.8amd 9 / Rom 1.16 . and 1 cor 1.21 .
/ eph 1.13-14 are more than adequate to explain how we are saved .

There is no "spiritual choice" made from the natural man, who was spiritually dead at the time of his quickening, Eph 2:1.
Since all men are natural by birth they all must choose. Gods gives light for men to choose. Those who deny the light remain in darkness. You would know this if you had a biblical salvation experience, not one created by your natural mind.

John 3:19-20 They chose darkness because their deeds were evil and wanted to avoid reproof.

They chose between the only two options that man faces.

Repentance isn't penance.
Repentance is changing your mind and admitting you need his salvation.

You don't repent AFTER you are saved.
You are putting the cart before the horse. You can't get saved if you don't admit you need saving.

I agree that a person has to believe that Jesus has died for their sins . That is the 'good news ' they have to believe this .Beyond this ,its not the Gospel.

What isn't the gospel?
What have I suggested beyond that?

Repentance = Remorse, Regret. Being sorry. That's all. It's not a work. It's not atonement or punishment.

Yup no mention of " you need to repent / turn from sins to be saved '
There are verses about repenting from sin.

Acts 8:22
Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.

and, of idolatry
Acts 17:30
30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

So do you think we are saved by the work of believing?

You can put 'work of' before anything in a sentence.

Its still changing your mind . Some people need to repent of their belief about repentance.

Seems rather petulant to deny the need for repentance, and even more so to deny the need for seeking to make recompense for your sin. While the latter may not be "necessary" for salvation how can you claim to love Jesus if you do not seek to emulate Him? Going even beyond responsibility for your own sin, but seeking to help others with their burdens. This whole trend of "I don't have to!" is rather sad especially coming from people who claim to know God. Be holy, for He is holy.

@presidente I believe he is talking about the Holy Spirit working in them.in the believer.
God brings us to repentance,we don’t bring ourselves.
