The affect of the Holy Spirit, and the importance of raising children right

Our church is going through the book of Acts, now. Here are some things I remember were mentioned:
The affects of the outpouring of the Spirit on the day of Pentecost. The power to spread the gospel. God's Spirit speaks to unbelievers, trying to get them to repent. God's Spirit also dwells constantly with those who belong to Him, and guides, and helps them in daily life. And helps give us correct understanding of the scriptures. While unbelievers are unable to understand them correctly, due to the fact that they don't have God's Spirit. God's indwelling Spirit helps give us the power to resist and overcome sin in our lives. And being filled with the Spirit is opposite to that of living after the flesh. The way to be fully filled with God's Spirit, is to be fully surrendered to God in daily life, and to put pleasing God in daily life, as the very top priority in life. And more important to us than any earthly thing. And putting on the whole armor of God (Ephesians 6) is important for keeping oneself filled with God's Spirit. It is letting sins remain in our lives and failing to repent of them - that quenches His Spirit in our lives.

Aside from the subject of the book of Acts, and the outpouring of the Spirit on the day of Pentecost - another subject I remember was taught on, was the importance of raising one's children in the ways of the Lord. And now that I think of it, that connected with the subject of the affect of being baptized in the Spirit. It was explained that all children are "in the flesh" - and so that is why training is so important. They are in the flesh until or unless they eventually become true Christians. It was explained that the greatest fear, Christian parents have, is that any of their children might not choose to follow God, later in life. And the teen-aged years are feared the most, by parents. But regular prayer about one's children, and diligent efforts made throughout their childhoods, to train them in the ways of the Lord - is the best prevention there is against having any of their children eventually turn away from God.

I am a grandmother off 15 ...
I messed up big time with my children , I have one son who is serving life in prison , and by God`s amazing grace my son is saved

Now God has saved me , I feel as if He has given me such a chance to walk as He would have me walk in His ways before my grandchildren , and also to my own unsaved children , and after seeing the work He is doing in my son , I have great hope He will also work in my other children , and their children...

My children no doubt remember me from my drinking/drug days . but their children do not know me apart from being a daughter of the King Most High , I feel as if God has given me new chances to teach my young family of His Son , may His Will be done...

I now have a chance to bring The Good News of Jesus to the little ones...

I'm so glad you continue to pray for your children, and that you continue to be a good example to them of the blessings of being a true Christian! Some people come to God later in life, like the apostle Paul. But they are very fortunate as things keep improving in their lives ever since that point, and much good comes through their lives for God!

If I can offer any imput, it would be to get rid of the television and movies; Don't let your children watch any of it!! They are all laced with images of idols and all manner of blasphemies. Also keep them away from the Internet to protect them from being influenced by the wrong crowd. And most importantly, read the King James Bible to them from an early age, and with them as they grow older and older, considering the example of Timothy in 2Timothy 3

2Ti 3:13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

2Ti 3:14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;

2Ti 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

2Ti 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

I just read of tests given babies to see if they have memory as young as six weeks old, and it was proven they do. So speaking scripture starting with babies and telling them about it makes a difference in their entire life.

This has been tested by the Jews, for they begin to teach memory verses very early in a child's life. Statistics tell us that Jews excel in every way, they lead all other races.

Good advice! I didn't have TV when I was growing up, as my parents didn't keep one in the home. Yes, I don't think it is wise to let kids use the internet without being watched over, since there are some bad things on there, as you say! I am a Grandma now, but help to watch over our 2 young grand kids at their house a lot. I'm glad their family doesn't let their kids watch TV - maybe not at all - they only allow them to watch kids' movies. I teach them about the Bible regularly - every time we go over there - tell them Bible stories, etc. Yes, I agree that King James Version seems to be the most accurate Bible - that's the one I use most of the time.

I'm glad their family doesn't let their kids watch TV - maybe not at all - they only allow them to watch kids' movies. I teach them about the Bible regularly - every time we go over there - tell them Bible stories, etc. Yes, I agree that King James Version seems to be the most accurate Bible - that's the one I use most of the time. Their parents have movies, but I can't control what they watch, being just the Grandma. But I'm glad they don't let them watch any during day time hours, as they see it's better for their intellectual development - to not spend too much time watching movies, anyhow.
