...its evident that your parroting a ' respected ' theologian instead...
Really? And which false teacher have you been parroting? Since I have personally and diligently studied Scripture, I do not depend on theologians. And anyone can see this from my posts.

It's not only a matter of doctrinal errors, it's also a matter of how we meet. I'm very much passed guided singing to God for 45mins, sit down, listen to a sermon, alter call, feigning communion and having small talk before ushering to our homes for the week. Yes, we have weekly small groups which is made to make up for what doesn't happen on a Sunday which then somewhat makes the Sunday service redundant because it is, and also has been what happens at the mid week small group truly communion of the saints.
I really hope this covid situation has caused the church to really rethink how we gather because at least for me, and a growing amount of people I know, it' can be shallow, dry experience.
People often can misinterpret what I'm saying as back sliding or as you mentioned 'forsaking the assembly' but it's quite the opposite. It's search for and desiring much deeper connections with people, real communion, not half a cracker and shot glass of juice...(that is not communion, it is a religious substitute) This usually can make people very uncomfortable because we are somewhat used to just scrapping the surface.
For those who are happy and content with the traditional (somewhat catholic) method of the saints gathering, I have no problem. I'm happy that they are happy and find it fulfiling.
But after many years, I'm not longer interested in feeling like I'm in a club.
Great post! I read your words but, God heard your heart speaking to Him.

Sounds like God is calling you to learn how to run....those baby steps are just not satisfying you anymore......:giggle::love:(y)

With God, if I take a step backwards, so does He. If I take a step toward Him, He steps toward me.

But, if I RUN towards Him......He RUNS to me! Lol! :giggle:

You are greatly loved and desired by God breno785au!(y)

Are you going to take baby steps, walk or RUN?!

The ' you ' is not you personally its the example if someone does read the bible this way . The issue is ,we don't always realise we are reading the bible with our bias ect .

There are a lot of theological views out there. Some are in somewhat of an agreement with each other. Some are at complete odds with one another.

It is important to understand WHY you believe a certain way and to be able to coherently show it using scripture. Theologians have a really complex and oftentimes confusing way of saying things. Its better to be able to explain things in simpler terms and in simpler ways when communicating with others who may not have the exposure to these theological concepts. And if you can't explain these concepts in your own words in a more simplified way then throughfaith is probably right. You probably are just parroting some well-known theologian.

I'm finding that studying the bible and coming to theological conclusions is a lot like the Tower of Babel. Everyone has different ideas and expresses them in different ways. Everyone has blind spots to certain things. Its an amazing thing when a bunch of people come together and agree on everything.

I don't know exactly what @lenna was saying about sense making so maybe I was assuming something was being said that really wasn't.

I like the singing.

Its the sermon I usually have issues with.

I just want go to a church for Christians and not a church where the Pastor thinks he is the only Christian in the room. I'd like to go to a church where Christians actually understand what Christianity is and don't worship the 10 commandments or themselves instead.

In order to get church to be REAL church and not always missing some BIG thing I think several denominations would have to be mixed together. I think it would be awesome if people could do this. Instead of always thinking it is us against them. Each church tends to teach and think they are the One True Church and all others are apostate. Or semi-apostate.

I find that the people I like to worship with I am 180 degrees opposed to their theology. The people that I like their theology (mostly...) I find their worship falls (extremely) flat. I suppose I could leave the one church after worship and hurry to the next one for the sermon...

I haven't gone to church since the covid restrictions were put in place. I really only miss the worship.

I would offer that God has set aside teachers that bring the gospel as those who plant the incorruptible seed by which men are born again after .And water it with the doctrines of God that fall like rain referred to as the water of the word . But if Christ does not form that teaching in a persons heart there will be no effect. He is not served by human hands in any way shape or form .

He informs us one is our infallible teacher, our unseen father in heaven call no man on earth teacher in that way. . We are not to think of those like the apostles as a authority that rises above above all things written in the law and the prophets.(sola scriptura) Paul under the inspiration of our Father replied . What do we have that was not freely given by our Father in heaven and if it was freely given why would we boast as if not? (1 Corinthians 4:6-7) Why blaspheme the holy name by which we are are called to believe.

well for those that have the gift of reading between the lines, I was saying that the op is in over his head and does not really understand the concept

but boy howdy...what a neat op it would make he thought, so he went ahead and created it

he is presenting a worldview of how we make our decisions and how we are influenced by not only what is around us, but what we choose to engage in. no doubt that is not hard to prove

however, scripture presents another life changing/altering view. renewing our mind with scripture

most likely the op would see that also as some sort of 'sense making', however God tells us He does this change in us by His Spirit. He also states that to understand this, you must grasp it with your spirit and not a worldview that explains what other people tell us is why we are, how we are

nutshell explanation

hope that helps ;)

I'm not sure what you mean by "sense making", unless it means proper Bible interpretation. And it would appear that you have a long way to go. Looks like you have been indoctrinated into some false beliefs.
going back and reading posts above, I see I am right

he has introduced the 'teachers/pastors etc' in church as being wrong and so our '(cough cough) sense making is off

what a crock (are we allowed to use that expression here? dunno)

ok...well means
INFORMAL•NORTH AMERICAN
something considered to be complete nonsense.

yeah. what a crock
