Elect according to the foreknowledge of God. God knew us intimately before we were born, chose us before we were born, and predestined us before we were born.

This much is certain. The only question is conditional or unconditional election?

I leave that question alone, because I don’t feel I understand election well enough to take a side. I get the feeling that neither position adequately defines election. I just chalk it up as “waiting for further light on the matter”.
I suppose I hold the same the view then I have said before how there is something familiar about him as if I had known him before but it's like a very faint or vague memory you cannot really recall
I suppose I am in the same position as you I believe he knew the beginning to end but as far as salvation goes it it just goes against his nature for only some to be saved when it is called a free gift for any who would accept it.
And then what is the point of free will if no matter what we chose we either were predestined to be saved or condemned to hell in all honesty it may be higher than our minds can fully comprehend and we just have to go by faith or maaybe that is just my mind:LOL:

This is why every Arminain converts to Calvinism .you say :

Does ' God choosing the destination for those that are in christ , to future redemption of the body not solve the issue?

No because it contrary to his nature , did Jesus die for the sins of all mankind or just the pre elected?

Of course its a false dichotomy. No one is elected to be saved . So the conditional v unconditional is ridiculous .

If you had read my post correctly, you would know that I did not present a false dichotomy. I actually said I feel it is possible that neither gives an fully adequate answer.

For the record, your position is conditional election. You are not elect until you believe. That is a condition. Not saying you’re wrong in that, just that it’s silly for you to say false dichotomy, when you adhere to one of the sides.

Ephesians 1:5. Chosen to be holy and without blame before Him in love

That’s not salvation?!!

I see justification and sanctification right there. And Paul doesn’t end there. He continues for the next ten verses or so.

Some believe in election based on foreseen (by God) faith. It’s either that, or there is an aspect of election that is unknown to us, but we can be assured that God doesn’t do anything arbitrarily. Whatever He chose to do is both wise and just, even if it doesn’t seem so to us as finite humans

If we try to understand God based on our conception of what He should be, we are in danger of constructing an unbiblical God.

I just trust Him about what I don’t know.

No I don't believe ' election ' has anything to do with salvation . As I've said repeatedly. Election is to service, calling and purpose, not to salvation. (Isa. 42:1; Acts 9:15; Rom. 11:28) I would incourage you to do a word search on ' Election ' chosen ' choose ' . Its always service, calling and purpose,

Psalms 51:5
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,

and before you were born jI consecrated you;

I appointed you a prophet kto the nations
Yeah, that is a good point.

Just my opinion but here is some of my thoughts on it:

I think God appoints or elects certain people for certain work for him.

However, I think that he still gives them a choice in whether they will follow and obey and do it, though.

In one place, in scripture he said that if the people didn't praise him the rocks would cry out....Luke 19: 37-40

And then again in another scripture he told them not to use the fact that they were the children of Abraham as an excuse because he could raise the stones up as children to Abraham. Matthew 3:9

But of course, it could also just be his foreknowledge and foresight. He does know the end from the begging and everything in between, so he knows what is going to happen, but I believe he gives us all a choice for salvation.

There already saved .Paul is not going around saying " hey guys remember God chose you before you existed " " oh and in case you forgot, God elected you to be saved before you were born " ." Thanks Paul , aren't we saved already , why the update? "

Chose us in Him before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless before Him in love. Having predestinated us etc. . ..Ephesians 1:4-5

Clear as can be.

Let’s just agree to disagree, because Were just going in circles

Ok, we can disagree on that. Ephesians 1 is about election and predestination and just about every aspect of salvation is listed there

Again why is Paul writing? what's the central theme ? who's his audience? it might help to zoom out of the proof text .

Election for service is one kind of election. Election for perfection and glorification is the other kind of election. But yes, there is no such thing as election for salvation, since that would contravene the Gospel.

You just agreed with the post #233 why were you making a big fuss over what I was saying? You just liked the post ? That was my entire point .
What do you think "in Christ" means? If you are in Christ, you are saved. Sorry "throughfaith" I intended to address someone else.
