It is a tradition in this forum to have at least one thread talking about how pagan Christmas is. So here is this year's thread.

Topics to discuss:
- Christmas trees are false idols
- "Santa" is an anagram of "Satan"
- Jesus wasn't even born on December 25th
- It's all a lot of hype generated by stores to make money
- We hate the same old songs played 50,000 times before this season will finally be over
- We all have too much stuff anyway so presents are a burden rather than a blessing
- Bah humbug!

Possible additional topics:
- Winter Solstice (pagan observance) being co-opted by the RCC
- Yule logs are also evil (somehow?)
- Gnosticism in RCC rituals (probably will grow naturally from the christmas tree line of conversation)

...is it bad that I want to laugh?

I can’t take these seriously, like it just sounds like nitpicking and being grumpy on purpose, let people enjoy Christmas, have never met a Christian that consider Christmas to be pagan, if that’s the case, I might need to avoid CC all throughout December cause I’m going to be wanting to talk about Christmas and spread holiday cheer :3

Fact # 1: JESUS WAS BORN.
Fact # 2: We can celebrate it in our hearts the right way.
Fact #3 : The Christmas story touchs a lot of hearts.
Fact #4: There is a wrong way and right way to do everything, it is up to us.
Fact #5; There is no denying that Jesus was born into this world, I see no reason not to celebrate it!
Fact #6: Christmas is a time of giving, give to those in need.

Fact#1: Jesus was not born on 25 December
Fact#2: He was born in September
Fact#3: I couldn't care less about Christmas :)
Fact#4: I will not judge you if you are touched by Christmas
Fact#5: God is clear He hates our appointed feast days so we can figure out if He likes Christmas
Fact#6: I can do with a turkey sandwich about now :ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:

Exactly!

Every year somebody tries to pee on Christmas by berating everybody for participating in it. So I thought I would start this thread and get it over with early this year.

But no, this is not really a serious thread. It's mostly a snarky commentary about the people who grumble a lot about Christmas being a pagan holiday.

So, I guess talking about Thanksgiving FIRST fell to the same wayside that the Retail Outlets push it to come this time of year?

I guess being thankful is not nearly as fun as dissing on Christmas. Yeah, I can see that. :)

Ha, ha. I liked the parody. But there are some Christians I respect who believe December 25 celebrations are evil. Also, "Santa" really is an anagram of "Satan"! So be careful! That fat, jovial old man in red is not who you think he is!!!

Anyway, the Christians I've seen who denounce Christmas (on December 25th) are usually into celebrating the Old Testament feast days. So how does that work? Isn't that kind of returning to the Law, which is clearly spoken against in scripture, unlike Dec 25... No offense to anyone - I would truly like to understand.

According to the Jehovah's Witnesses it is, because on the two birthdays that are mentioned in the Bible, they wound up with someone dying (Pharoah had the chief baker killed, and Herod ordered the death of John the Baptist.)

Your profile box says you joined CC in August 2020 -- welcome! :)

I've been here since 2009, and Lynx has been here since 2014. Hope that you'll be here for a while as well! :)

If you're here on the forums through at least a couple of holiday seasons, you will start to notice a trend -- every year, people will start threads about how Halloween and Christmas are evil -- you can already see in other parts of the forum that the Halloween discussion already began. Lynx is just getting a head start on the one for Christmas, so there was certainly no intent to "skip over" Thanksgiving at all.

It's great that people want to remind everyone to stay focused on the Lord. The problem is, every year, the arguments about major holidays always turn into brawling verbal spats of, "I'm right, you're wrong!" and "I shun the world more than you, therefore you are all less Christian than me! (And you're probably not really saved to begin with.)"

It would be wonderful if such threads turned into informative, respectful discussions, but unfortunately, that never seems to happen.

Some of us who have seen this happen over (and over and over, and I promise all the newer members here will see it too if they stick around at least a couple of years,) so rather than trying to trounce any of of these always-on-repeat arguments, many of us like to have a little laugh over the matter instead. :)

I've been enjoying your posts... Hope to see you more in the forums! :)

That is interesting to find out, but also sad. I think Birthdays are important, not only for keeping up with how old we are (Hey, when I turned 21, I’ll admit I had a drink, lol), but it is when that person came into the world, a blessing worth celebrating, we just recently celebrated my Dad’s birthday and just knowing other people can’t due to “silly reasons”, I just find sad ;-;

But if that is what they want to think, then so be it, I have my life to worry about right now, I pray for everyone to the best of my ability, but I’ve got celebrating to do when November/December rolls around and bills that will need paying, lol 😅

Aptly put, especially the part about "I shun the world more than you..." I've noticed anything can be turned into a point of pride - how small your town is, how big your town is, how well you know a video game, how well you know modern slang, etc, etc, etc... And christianity seems to be a wide open field for people who want to be proud of something.

Especially around the holidays. People take a LOT of pride in denouncing any holiday they can find for any reason they can google up.

"Hey did you know not a single native american was saved when they had their first Thanksgiving? They were invited to the party even though they were heathen unbelievers! And even the "christians" who were there were not REAL christians. They weren't part of our denomination after all." (That denomination wasn't even invented yet.) "So anybody who participates in any Thanksgiving celebration at all is doing something that is wrong, and an abomination in the sight of God, and probably connected to all kinds of pagan practices they got from the native americans."

"So there!"

It really is too bad because some people post interesting facts and historical backgrounds.

I'd actually enjoy them if they were sustained as informative discusions.

Unfortunately, those threads always get reduced to showmanship of a few posters trying to prove how sinful and worldly everyone else in the forum is.
