In Luke the term isn’t limited to Jews only. So, I still believe the Apostles knew that the Gentiles would receive the promise. If they didn’t then their minds were not opened to understand as Luke 24 says. That doesn’t mean that there wasn’t an order to things and it wasn’t yet time to take the gospel to the Gentiles.

The difference is notable in Acts 16 .30 when eternal life is in focus .
30And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

Their minds were open to understand the things the bible actually says here .
25¶Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:

I think its encouraging for us to see that the Apostles suffered from a lot of the same issues that we have today. The verse I was referring to was Luke 24:45 where it says:
“Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures,”

So then are you saying the Apostles forgot and then 10 years of preaching to no gentiles ,then Peter needs a radical vision given to him and a gentile brought to him to jog his mind?
Are they acting in rebellion here ?

Matthew 28:19 has the same Greek word for nations, just like Luke 24:47 and Gentiles from Acts 15:3. I don’t think they forgot. I think they allowed the Holy Spirit to guide the process.
So 10 years after Acts 2 still no gentile. Then ! Peter gets the vision .This is after Israel s final rejection .
I'm a gentile so I cannot be accused of over doing the ' Jewish ' focus . I don't benefit from the view I hold to on Acts 2 . But I'm constraint by what the text says . But its great news . As the Gospel is far simpler than we could make up . Its ' believe ' . Its believing the Gospel as presented in Paul's epistles. 1 cor 15 .1-4 / Rom 10 .9

repentance for the forgiveness of sins = metanoian eis aphesin hamartion = A change of mind into forgiveness of sins.
Notice also that Jesus said “A change of mind into forgiveness of sins“ is what should be proclaimed in his name (on his authority) to all the nations.
The Greek word eis means into. It is often translated “for”, but I don’t think ”for” conveys the entire meaning of eis.

Yes I see this exactly played out in the first few chapters of Acts .
And what do we see in Acts ? No gentiles until Acts 11 . This is my point .
You think " all the nations " is Gentiies. Well the proof is in the book of Acts is that its all the jews in all the nations " under heaven " . You can assume all you want , but the actual fact is that the Gentiles are not granted repentence until Acts 11 .
If you think torah observing, temple worshipping, Sacrifice for sins followers, Pork abstaining Jews are being told they need to stop sinning ( stealing , blashpemey, fornication ect ) then you've lost the plot . They need to " change Thier mind about " about the one they crucified.
Meta means ' above ' ..The idea is to break frame from the current set of presupposition s , to step back re consider ect . like to go from thinking Jesus was a criminal and deserving of death to their redeemer and deliever.

This incident only goes to show how out of touch the church in Jerusalem was with their Lord, Who gave the great commission to His Church BEFORE His Ascension to preach the Gospel to ALL, Jews and Gentiles alike, and who procrastinated in fulfilling it!
As far as the Lord was concerned: "There was neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus."
Stop cherry picking Scriptures in order to support you wrong views!
So you are basically saying that, after spending 40 days with the ascended Christ learning everything about the Kingdom program (Acts 1:3), the 11 still did not understand as much as you that:
- Israel would still reject Jesus Christ by killing Stephen Acts 7 and would have fallen.
- Paul would be revealed the new revelation that "There was neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.", even though the ascended Christ made no mention about these to them during those 40 days.
- Gentiles would now be accepted thru the fall of Israel.
