I've seen people say this to someone else "I love you but I'm not IN love with you". What does this mean? How is that possible?

I love my family and my friends, but I am not in love with them. There's a difference.
I almost find that offensive. If anything America is so sex oriented that the very notion of falling in love has been polluted here The truest essence of it isn't celebrated here at all.
French and Spanish are still romantic languages right?
I love my mother but I wouldn't carve her name into a tree or write poetry about her. I don't anxiously await every moment I get to see my cousins but, I still love them. I have never found myself at a loss of words by looking into my old friends eyes.

Ram brought up a good point to me in a private message, he said, as I understood it, that this phrase is not biblical. It is biblical but....it is vague and can have a lady or gent come to their own conclusion regarding when its time for love.
"Daughters...do not awaken love before its proper time." - God's Word translation (This is a fairly new translation). I agree with Ram, and, I think it is very easy to be persuaded by Satan who is the king liar, manipulator, thief, cheat, and, I can go on with more term to describe Satan but I won't except to say this: Think of the worst ravaging things one can do to another and that is Satan, so sad that as an angel he had a great lifel but then thought he could out-win God and have it all. Little did He know the battle belongs to the Lord, and, so does the victory, which arose when Jesus died on the cross and RISING again, BEATING DEATH. Halelujah

Yes, I already mentioned these two verses in my last post, but now I am scrutinizing the last part of the verse from God's Word and KJV translations and seeing IF there is really a difference in way these two verses translate. So, and, no, I don't think Ram is right on saying things about american love silly, but I am saying this: Ram is right ON in saying that the God's Word version is not biblical, well, at least as Ram sees it, and, I see it, one version speaks of HUMAN INTERVENTION quite possible to get to a stage of it being alright to AROUSE or AWAKEN love and one version relies SOLELY on God saying its time to arouse or awaken love. Why do I always write in caps so much, for emphasis, sorry, I am NOT yelling at anyone or saying I am holier than you.

) Anyway, that makes sense to me then that the KJV bible says the way we should NOT arouse love is said in a much clearer understanding. Much! But, the second part of THIS verse, ahhhh, NOW we are getting somewhere....

Now, the 'Do not awaken love before it's time' phrase in the God's Word translation therefore is saying that it could be when we THINK its the RIGHT TIME to AROUSE or AWAKEN our love for another person. No, no, no ! THAT is not what I mean to say and that is definitely important to understand that God awakens the love inside us for another person, not us. And, UNTIL God awakens that love inside us, we, as singles, NEED, NEED, NEED, to stay clear away from things that are our weaknesses, because. When I said guys who are tempted by porn, I am NOT saying either to stay off the internet necessarily...Absolutely not, just go to GREAT WEBSITES that can FEED you constantly with the goodness God intends for you, like christianchat.com and other sites (I like bible.com and biblegateway.com).

I am not sure what you are saying there, julieannie, in your last post, but porn is offensive and its one of the ways we arouse love before God pleases. And that leads to pregnancies in girls and socially conscious hurting in guys....

And , it may include love IF you are EVER ready for it
Liam, yes, your thoughts resonate with power, and, yes, people thay do not WAIT for God to arouse love in them when they are READY are very likely to arouse it before its the right time for it and it can very EASILY lead to compromising choices than will affect you the rest of your life. Nt not to say all doom and gloom, we ALL make mistakes. its a given, we WILL fall, and, their will be consequences. But God will pick us up EVERY TIME we fall if we reach out our hand. God's (hand) is always outstretched.
And, msamber, good thought, yes, we will only be in true love all the rest of our lives loving our spouse IF its right from God. And , that's not to say they're won't be spousal disappointments, there will he, but with God the center you will understand what arouses each other.

If porn "arouses love" in your world, I would imagine that you would indeed have a great deal of difficulty understanding my point. It makes me cringe to think that some young person reading this will think that the loving intimacy described in the scriptures is in any way comparable to porn. To see something so beautiful dragged through the trough like that is highly offensive.

Julieannie, I was using porn example to show that it is a bad something that keeps God from being able His pleasing kind of love plane for us. That is more a GUYS example but the rancho internet access can make it more accessible for gals too. Then a woman example of something that can arouse love is (addictive) mall spending, I am maybe not saying it very well but I am trying to say we awaken love in the wrong way when its not God way.Últimately, whatever you do, do it for the glory of God and pray,pray, pray about things you might think will cause you to awaken love in a wrong way.

Ok, Dont do things that hurt you because they awaken wrong things in you, sometim, AGAINST and AGAINST and.... And, that keep you from having God please with you to allow love to be awakened in your life . And this verse wants us simply to understand that going after a mate without God's blessing is going to be tough on you. God will stillbe with you thru it all, but it will be tough on you still-life.

I LOVE this poem. I came across it a couple of weeks ago through a pastor friend of mine on facebook and shared it in the singles forum. I've watched it like 20 times. May I ask, Psalm2713, what lines wouldn't have you written as a Christian? I didn't hear anything ungodly in it, as many times as I've seen it. I thought it would have been better to leave it at simple mentioning instead of explaining with much detail... with all the details .. it doesn't build the audience.... but that's just my personal opinion.. Now I'm waiting.. and this is who I'm waiting for and how.. - instead she laid down the problem, the change, and and the solution. The reason why she is waiting is in those beginning details. I have more to say , hopefully I can further explain some things I see now are interestingly not what I first thought, but, rest assured, I truly believe and see examples galore of God wanting us to wait on Him for His opening that grandest of stage in our life. What I will talk about will be Solomon and i may just make a new thread. I get frustrated typing on my mytouch4g and my mineros causes me great angst and forva tópic so important and far-reaching for young and old I want to type on a library computer because i dont have laptop or pc now at my place.

Love, the ability, the decision, even sometimes it's uncontrabble grasp on us is a strong thing, therefore we should not enter into it and do it lightly. Love is a strength given to us by God, and when we give, there are results in us and to the one being given to. And to be careful because those results could be bad if given to the wrong individual who will abuse your love, and/or not ready.
For example, as teens we often have alot of emotions and relationships, but thank God are often restrained because of our age and maturity, so that later in life, when we have more of other areas of life together, and hafve had a chance to define what love is, and really see our love interests character, love will be what God designed as it describes in the Song of Solomn, which is the chapter in the bible that this quotation is from.
Another way of looking at if for each individual life.
When you read the SOS, it does sound like love is strong, so the bible backs up what I am saying.
As humans say, "It can sweep you away", "Knock you off your feet"
Think of bad marriages where there is love, but also constant arguing, abuse, and disagreements, could some of this come from not establishing what love is?
Something to think on, before loving.

Well, its been a very busy week for me, I thank God for this day of rest, so, blessedly given us by God for our lives to be best blessed , given to us in the very beginning of human time on Earth. God rested, we should rest, and, maybe, as, I'version taken a bit of time here to get to my next thought about Solomon....

Solomon was with 700 wives and another 300 others (harem, concubines) too. Was God pleased with this way of doing things (polygamy)?

Solomon was not following God's ways (either was the Shulamite girl that Solomon was in love with), this is apparent because who is not mentioned at all throughout the entire book of Song of Solomon??

This SOS book describing a playful courtship, an ensuing wedding and celebration and a merriful post-wedding lifelong bliss minus a blip or two along the way where he leaves her, is without God.

Ok, so, of course, if you read my earlier posts, you see where I say that what is said by me was interpreted WRONG , as far as SOS book goes.. But definitely NOT wrong as far as a courtship should go, that is, AWAKENING LOVE.
God absolutely needs to be in the center of you relationship, if you awaken love in you without God onboard, you will get in trouble and God will be left out of helping you because you will have closed the door without Him.
So, I will close by saying, in this verse. (King James Version): 'Do not awaken or stir up love until he pleases,' is talking of a human warning . Or, in another version's it says, God's Word translation, 'Do not awaken love before its proper time.'
Another version, forget which, says, 'do not awaken love before she pleases.'
These verses ALL say the same thing then, since God is present in entire book of Solomon, they ALL say , as I see it, that 'he pleases,' refers to lady not becoming aroused until the man says so.....
No ! That is wrong, we should not AWAKEN love until God says so. Right? Right.
Perfect love is from God. God is love.
So, whether it's 'she pleases,' or, 'he pleases,' or, 'its proper time,' it is WRONG way to think of how YOU should AwaKEN love inside you. It MUST be God

. Busy week dealing with rat feces and paper and junk in my warehouse and last week and this are for cleaning it up completely. But, Yes, Solomon did bad things. I think Song Of Solomon shows a beautiful example of love, bug it does not show a beautiful example of God's love.

Good question, if you ask that, and, I said I wanted to say more about Solomon and now I will and I will warn you that what I am about to say I pray is God speaking through me (Dear Lord...Amen).
Solomon was not following God's ways (either was the Shulamite girl that Solomon was in love with), this is apparent because who is not mentioned at all throughout the entire book of Song of Solomon??

This SOS book describing a playful courtship, an ensuing wedding and celebration and a merriful post-wedding lifelong bliss minus a blip or two along the way where he leaves her, is without God.

Ok, so, of course, if you read my earlier posts, you see where I say that what is said by me was interpreted WRONG , as far as SOS book goes.. But definitely NOT wrong as far as a courtship should go, that is, AWAKENING LOVE.
God absolutely needs to be in the center of you relationship, if you awaken love in you without God onboard, you will get in trouble and God will be left out of helping you because you will have closed the door without Him.
So, I will close by saying, in this verse. (King James Version): 'Do not awaken or stir up love until he pleases,' is talking of a human warning . Or, in another version's it says, God's Word translation, 'Do not awaken love before its proper time.'
Another version, forget which, says, 'do not awaken love before she pleases.'
These verses ALL say the same thing then, since God is present in entire book of Solomon, they ALL say , as I see it, that 'he pleases,' refers to lady not becoming aroused until the man says so.....
No ! That is wrong, we should not AWAKEN love until God says so. Right? Right.
Perfect love is from God. God is love.
So, whether it's 'she pleases,' or, 'he pleases,' or, 'its proper time,' it is WRONG way to think of how YOU should AwaKEN love inside you. It MUST be God

How beautiful is the Love of Christ and, poor Solomon who, YES!, wrote a beautiful book here but it is glaringly UGLY no matter how beautiful it sounds without ....Christ.
HOW MUCH MORE BEAUTIFUL CAN LOVE BE, REAL LOVE THAN WITH GOD COMPLETELY IN IT? It can't .
