Good luck. I fear Australia may not be far enough, friend. The people are sheep, and love their servitude.
True. They don't value freedom over here

It get's philosophical, but my hypothesis is that it's a switch from God being the authority, to someone or something else being the authority. But someone else can't pretend to be God, because he's not, and people would likely quickly pick up on that. He - or they - seem to want to be aliens. But you can't have aliens without evolution. You can't have evolution without big bang. You can't have big bang if the universe is small. You can't have big universe if the Earth is flat.

Sure, there will always be those who believe in God and evolution (or combinations of the above), but it's not consistent, and I believe the thinkers will reject such positions, as they do today.
I can see how that would be possible today but the big bang and the ToE theories weren't around in the 15th -18th centuries and the highest authority at the time was the Vatican.

Did they? Particularly in the Southern Hemisphere, they lost a lot of ships. Parallax says it was because they were working to heliocentric maps, so the distances were wrong. I am not sure. This guy got some things wrong, but he also got plenty right. Worth a read.
There isn't that many shipwrecks down here in the south. Vasco da Gama, Able Tasman, Ferdinand Magellan, Captain Cook and others were successful in multiple return voyages. They would have had to learn to navigate using the southern cross instead of Polaris. But im wondering how much of it was down to helio maths...

The Portuguese basically just followed the shoreline around Africa to Asia.
Columbus crossed the Atlantic.
Tasman crossed the Indian ocean.
Magellan crossed the Pacific ocean.

They don't necessarily prove that they successfully navigated the globe using just helio knowledge, does it... Perhaps they were simply mistaken in their belief of the globe and the atheists kept going along with it when they learnt it was wrong in the 19th century...

The greatest navigators were the Polynesians, i wonder what they believed.. They didn't follow coast lines, instead they navigated the vast expanse of the pacific to go from island to island. Imagine trying to sail to a tiny island in the middle of the Pacific, its a seemingly impossible feat but the Polynesians were doing it... Cook was astonished at their skill.

Another thing that comes to mind is how late the Europeans were in exploring the earth. Part of it had to do with ship tech as they could only sail down wind before the Portuguese invented sails that can go into the wind at an angle. But maybe part of it was because their helio belief was wrong. Plenty of explorers left Europe never to be seen again.

We have guys like Newton and Einstein but im in engineering and i know that u can play around with numbers and make them work in just about any situation...

Its important not to dismiss a whole theory based on an anomaly as they all have things that don't add up and other things that do.
I dismissed flat earth based on the fact that travel from Australia to south America or to Africa doesn't add up.
And its easy for me now to dismiss helio theory based on the impossibility of the stars positions, im tempted to do so, especially when i come across someone who is being so belligerently hostile about it all...

So atm im not prepared to adhere to any theory. If i had to pick one now i would lean towards the geo belief that we are a stationary globe with Polaris to the north and the Southern Cross to the south

i'm in math ((my job description is essentially the guy who settles disputes between engineers)) and it's not true what you say. if something is an inch too short it doesn't matter how much pushing that inch around from different perspectives you do, you're still going to be an inch short.

what engineers do is try to push that inch into a different cost center than the one they're responsible for. that's not equivalent to 'making numbers work in any situation' -- the apparent motion of the stars and the sun & planets is a go/no-go gauge. flat-earth is no-go. it really is that simple

Has anyone seen or heard about that anomaly in earth’s magnetic field? It’s growing and splitting into two.
We worry about the changing weather, but how would a geomagnetic storm look like on a global scale?
Satellites and shuttles flying over it and being exposed by its radiation can crash; that’s why it is being monotored so closely.
I think we will witness something in our lifetime no generation before us has witnessed before. If our globe’s magnetic field gets weakened on global scale you better not have a solar flare heading your way. If it does happen, would that mean it was planned by design or just a coincidence?

Flat earthers would explain this anomaly by a hole in the dome?
When we start witnessing aurora in places we should not, that may be the beginning of the end (of this generation)

there's no such thing as a magnetic field in flatworld, silly.
there's no gravity, either, so don't even start

I watched a Creationist named Kent Hovind on youtube wipe out the Flat Earth argument.
Simply using Scripture.

It was kind of amusing to watch.

True, i know what your saying. It's not what i meant but... I was referring more to adding constants...

Im not sure what u mean by that, can u elaborate?

Maybe u can offer an explanation as to how it is possible for the Polaris star to remain in the same position when every celestial body is in motion. Just changing the earths tilt is enough to throw Polaris out of center as seen in this illustration...

at the current rate of the earth's motion, one rotation of the earth's precession in this gif you posted takes 26,000 years.

how many rotations do you think the earth has made since it was formed?

That's interesting since Christian flat earthers I've come across like to use scripture to prove it.
As I've always thought, it's down to interpretation like any other biblical debate.

Hi... I've been busy turning a van into a camper... I get my license back in 5 weeks and im escaping from this dystopian hell hole called Victoria to move to NSW or QLD.

Ok so geocentricity is basically a stationary globe. I would say that my priorities are right in order to try and understand this subject...
My priority is truth regardless of whose toes i step on or who gets offended...

I find it impossible that the earth is in motion while the Polaris star remains fixed and all the celestial bodies move in cycles...

The more i look into it the more i find lies and deception including fabricated evidence in what seems like a desperate attempt to withhold the truth... But im really struggling to understand some key points...

A/ The motive behind such a cover up...
B/ How they successfully navigated earth using heliocentric mathematics and techniques. Or maybe it was geocentric knowledge

They say that they are covering up God but the Portuguese have always been people of Christ, same as the Spanish, the French and the English... They wouldn't of been trying to suppress God. They were in the crusade wars against the Muslims. One of their missions was to spread the Gospel around the world...

Chistopher Columbus tried to reach India by going west. He proposed that the world was 4 times smaller than they thought while the Portuguese were confident that they knew the size of the globe and succeeded in their mission of reaching Asia by sea...

How do u explain that???
Lol you're just moving from one dystopian hell hole to another mate, cya!

Yes sorry, i was mistaken with that GIF... look at this one instead...

insta.gif
Our solar system orbits the center of the Milky Way which is rotating and moving through the universe, right...
So with every star in a similar motion how does the Polaris star always stay in the same spot?
How do the stars keep running the same cycle? Shouldn't they appear in different positions each night?

I had a look at the flat earth arguments a while ago and dismissed the theory because of this; I can catch a plane from Australia to south America and get there in a time that is much too fast to fit the flat earth map.
Did you actually make such a flight personally? Or, did you just calculate/determine it from flight schedule information?

If you actually made such a flight:

How much time did it take?

What make-and-model airplane were you on?

How fast did they say you were going?

(not necessarily the truth - you could possibly have been going a lot faster than you were told)

Was it a non-stop flight?

Was there anything about the flight plan that you could personally verify with certainty?

Victoria is much worse than any other state... At least im not such a wanted man in other states... If i get arrested here for anything i go straight to jail again... You might say "well don't commit any crimes"... And i would say u don't need to commit a crime to go to jail here... They locked me up for driving offences... Now every time i drive by, their cpu red flags me and they pull me up looking for any reason to take me in... Also there are no jobs for me here... The stoopid lockdowns have destroyed my industry

I didn't make the flight... I used travel websites where you can organize flights and such...
Its true that most flights go to America first, i think only one flight a week was going from Sydney directly to Santiago, maybe 2.
I don't remember how long the flight took now cos it was a long time ago. I just remember taking a really close look at it and making my conclusion...

There were also non stop flights between Perth and Johannesburg that didn't fit the flat earth model... The planes can't go much faster because of the speed of sound which is somewhere near 1200km/h

Considering i haven't taken those flights, i can't personally verify it with certainty.

Be careful...

Don't assume every detail of that information is true. Non-existant flights have been known to show up on some of those sites. Just because they say the flight exists does not automatically mean it is true.

Those who are pushing Ball Earth are only going to give you infomation that matches the perception they want you to have.

Ye fair enough, thats why i did say that i can't personally verify it
The info isn't from anyone pushing globe earth, just my independent investigation.

Here is a quote from the Qantas from their website. Link here
“Qantas offers the fastest non-stop route between Australia and South America"

I try and be as fair as i can and atm im asking around, trying to get a valid explanation to my inquiry about the stars and all i seem to get are really poor answers like "the universe is on the same vortex" and/or a level of belligerent hostility that is very surprising and suspicious. I see this level of emotion in debates about abortion were people are personally affected but when i see it elsewhere its usually cos there is something to hide or people are stuck and can't explain something

You'd have to have a significant amount of driving offences to be put behind the slammer.

There are actually two things about that gif in post #2070 that illustrate error in Ball Earth physics.

The first one, of course, is the 'polaris' thing. Of course, they will tell you that the North Pole points in the direction of Polaris - far far far away.

The other has to do with all of the planets not being in the same plane that cuts through the sun. Which means - "somebody" - has to speed-up-and-slow-down every cycle around the sun just to "stay on track"...

Ask 'em to 'splain that. :D

Yes. That's actually what made it interesting. He got to the point of how to figure out when it's literal vs symbolic or figure of speech.
