Those who believe that the Lord was the one who decided that Christmas was the way to celebrate Him, and it was not an idea thought up by man are full of hate and according in these posts. There is such accusing done against people who simply use the word without man's ideas.
The Lord's part of Christmas is to turn this man holiday to good, and the Lord uses it to produce good will and charity toward others. But as with all fleshly things, there is much evil in it.
The Lord outlined the celebrations that He endorsed for us, and man turned their back on them saying they were Jewish and what is of the Jews is obsolete. There are groups of people who have decided to use these holidays of the Lord, now. In these last days, most people turn from the Lord's ways, but there is a remnant who have turned to the Lord. I think that it is certain that what is of the Lord is best.
if you look for evil you will find it. If you seek what is good that too, you will find. Know said the Lord decided to celebrate Christmas. IT is legalist types who are seeking evil in the birth of Jesus. Legalism is nothing but a controlling spirit. God is not going to send people to hell for honoring the birth of Christ. IF the "Lord's part of Christmas" to turn this man holiday to good how can it be evil too?
That statement is an oxymoron. Man has created many things that are not written in the Word of God that are praise worthy and honorable, yet man can and does prevent it, Juts like God created marriage man and women perverted it.

The fulfillment of all old testament prophecy, the coming of the Lord in the flesh, not relevant. If it's not why the angels delivering the news to Shepard's in the field, why the wise men travelled hundreds of miles. Why did Herod seek to have him killed as a child? Why bother with all the details in the scriptures?
You try to spin that the times looked forward to for generations is irrelevant. They prophecied , and prayed for and placed their hope in for many generation.
Just as the saints of old look for the coming of the Lord so also do we to his return.

If you can think of anything better to do than meet up with friends and family, and fellow believers, and sing about Jesus, have the children do a reinactment about Jesus, and read the Bible babout Jesus, and talk about Jesus, I guess do it. I bet ya don't.

Ok...but in searching the scriptures then...do Christmas trees make sense? I would say no...they didn’t put up trees to celebrate Jesus’ birthday...and they didn’t celebrate Jesus birthday at all. They knew that Jesus came not so we can celebrate a birthday but so that we can be saved by the blood of Jesus.
I would add that searching the scriptures is also a good idea in this case as well. The Bereans wanted to make sure what they were being told was alright, so they searched the scriptures...consulted with God..and that’s what we should do too.
I heard that the evergreen was brought in the house to keep the evil spirits at bay in the winter...It is a pagan thing...

I was startled at first , but this had been going on for the past 2 yrs , I just kept pushing it away , denying it , and I really loved christmas to , but something changed on the morning of the 25th , and I can see clearly now...

Ya, its hard..He had been working on me..but one Christmas..as I sat in front of the tree, in the dark with the twinkling lights..I knew as God was impressing me to really think about christmas..that this was probably going to be my last christmas and I also knew that He was being kind. He let me enjoy my last christmas in front of the tree.
I was hoping that by the next christmas that God would say..well..I’ll relent and you can go back to it..but I knew that He wouldn’t and it would take great courage to tell my husband and my two children that I wasn’t going to celebrate christmas anymore and to tell them the reasons. That didn‘t go over to well. They still did christmas but I said it could only be done in the basement and they half heartedly put up a tree down there. The thing that I also noticed sitting in front of that tree..was that I was really the only one who cared about the holiday in that no one was there sitting with me, enjoying the tree..the lights. It was after christmas and the presents were opened.
So..I also realized that I was the one who really was keeping the tradition alive and without my help or support it kind of fizzled..even thought they tried to keep it up for a couple of years but then the kids became teens..and then we had other things to worry about.
Im so glad that people are thinking a bit more about caring for trees instead of cutting them down and ruining the forest.
I think with children you dont need to fool them into thinking theres an elf on the shelf whos watching them either. Thats really weird. lol
just tell them the story about Jesus being born. Its in the Bible.

I think a lot of people have fake trees...my parents always did. We had a live tree once..but that took a lot of work and the next year the fake one came out again. My husband and I had a fake tree until we stopped ’celebrating’ christmas.
Ya..that elf on the shelf thing..I never did it myself and didn’t know about it until recently. It does seem pretty creepy to not only lie to your kids at christmas but to tell them some elf is watching them. And he’s a little creepy looking too.

So you think that some how God opened your eyes to the idea that we should not celebrate the coming of the Messiah, the culmination of all the prophecies of and the fulfillment of the promises to the fathers of faith. The birth of salvation. The miraculous birth that begins the identity of who Jesus is. We shouldn't make a point of teaching and celebrating that each year?
Sounds preposterous to me. That some how God is displeased with families and friends and fellow Christians would gather on a certain day each year and dedicate it to the most wonderful gift he could give us; his own son to live and teach and suffer as we do and then ultimately lay his life down for us.
I teach the birth , death and resurrection of our Lord to my unsaved family mostly all times I see them...
Every day is such a celebration...

And children need to know more than just the birth story, even though his birth is very important and needs to be taught probably once a year, and having some good celebration while we are at it will suffice.

The birth story is important in that it testifies that He is God’s only begotten Son..not that we need to celebrate a birthday for Jesus. That story can be taught over and over again and not just on one day of the year.
Why would you celebrate the birth of an immortal God? Who even now is sitting at the right hand of the Father.

Well good for you some people don't have that luxury. Some of us have to have a job so that we can provide you know normal stuff like food and shelter, and we find it necessary to teach the full council of scripture to our family.
