In my experience pastors in general are definitely not selective about who they talk to. Pastors can't afford the luxury of avoiding people.

Maybe pastors are selective of who they talk to.

UCA,
you are either 'staging questions', cause the answer is so obvious, or you are just not used to people...
judging each and everything another does, can often lead one down 'rabbit-holes'...

I think there could be hundreds of reasons why people ignore us. It's happened to me several times. I've been told I'm too friendly.
But I carry on regardless. A smile can brighten someone's day, even if you don't say hello.
There was a lady probed near me and we went to the same church
She never smiled or spoke to anyone, and always looked angry. I started talking to her one day but I could tell she didn't want to talk.
A few days later she knocked on my door and i put the kettle on. We had a short chat and then off she went. In the end this lady became the best friend i have ever had.
A pastor omce said from the pulpit that people like that could have been awake all night fighting with satan.

Actually UCA4J... uh... I didn't want to say anything about it, but that's kind of the impression I got too.

I get the feeling you are (consciously or subconsciously) looking for reasons to be offended.

People got stuff to do, bro. They are sometimes in a hurry. They have their own tasks to complete. Sometimes they don't have time to stop and chat. And sometimes they just don't have anything to talk about.

If you want to talk to people, talk to them. If you wait for them to start a conversation with you, don't get offended when they don't. If you try to start a conversation with them and they are in a hurry to do something, don't get offended when they excuse themselves from the conversation.

Of course... there's also another possibility. (I only mention this as a possibility because I don't know you personally, so I don't know if this applies to you.) If a person gripes and complains all the time, people are going to avoid talking to that person. I know I sure would. (And THAT'S why I wouldn't make a good pastor, and I'm glad that I'm not a pastor. Pastors can't afford to do that.)

I am usually very friendly to people in the beginning, however if I do not see the friendship going anywhere I distance myself. I still greet people as I used to be a greeter. I avoid a couple of people who caused me some emotional trauma.

Never said you couldn't.

Can't I share an observation? That's all I did.

The probability that everybody around you is just plain rude is vanishingly small. The probability that you are choosing the most negative interpretation of the actions of everybody around you is rather high.
