God created man from the ground, THEN he breathed the breath of life (spirit) into him.
Notice, flesh then spirit.
Furthermore the knowledge of the tree of good and evil.... is just that, knowledge of good and evil.
Whether we ate of the fruit or not, knowledge would be granted because the dichotomy created free will.
The tree did nothing for physical properties or punishments.
God gave the punishment not the tree.
But again, God created us Flesh, then Spirit, not the other way around
