Merck Scraps COVID Vaccines; Says It’s More Effective To Get The Virus And Recover

Shots generated an ‘inferior’ immune system response in comparison with natural infection
https://summit.news/2021/01/26/merc...-more-effective-to-get-the-virus-and-recover/
Actually they said
Citing its reasons for discontinuing development, the American pharmaceutical giant said: “This decision follows Merck’s review of findings from Phase 1 clinical studies for the vaccines. In these studies, both V590 and V591 were generally well tolerated, but the immune responses were inferior to those seen following natural infection and those reported for other SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 vaccines.” (here)

They are not suggesting that you not get a vaccine from other COVID 19 vaccines like Pfizer or Moderna which are 95% effective. Just that theirs failed and they are scraping it.

Keep it real people.

Totally untrue on many facts.

https://www.the-scientist.com/news-...of-brazilian-city-exposed-to-sars-cov-2-68272...

This is an article about a semi isolated village in brazil that has had two separate waves of infection...the second wave caught them unprepared and without oxygen lots of people died.

It does say that they think it was better to get the infection and recover from it...

How’s it untrue? The makers of a vaccine says it’s better to get it and recover.

That story you linked might be true...might not.
It's a highly respected scientific journal...scientists try to destroy each other over getting their papers published in it.

It's a lot more authoritative than your source.

Ok...but scientists also lie if they think it will get them someplace too.

If you want to think that.

That's why there's this thing called peer review... something needed to have been done twice before they publish.

The facts and science in the article are rock solid.

Better than what? Than getting their V590 and V591 vaccines. NOT BETTER THAN GETTING other vaccines. Why would anyone not quote their entire statement? Because by quoting part of their statement it sounds like they said that it is better to get COVID and get over it than it is to get a vaccine. But that is not what they said. Why would anyone want to make others think that is what they said? I will let you or others answer that question.

of course, the best thing to do is strengthen one's immune system, that will make it less likely that one actually gets covid, but you dismiss this as a conspiracy theory....

Doing all you can to strengthen your immune system will certainly help you fight against viruses.

However there is no such thing as eating or drinking certain things and creating antibodies that will defeat every virus. Sometimes a virus comes along that the body cannot create an antibody for without the help of a vaccine. Such as polio, and others. These viruses used to harm millions and now there are very few world wide cases each year thanks to vaccines.

Eating healthy and staying in good shape did not defeat Polio, vaccines did. To ignore this fact and belligerently state that one can defeat all viruses with good health habits is not a conspiracy theory it's just wishful thinking.

Fact of the matter is that neither covid nor the vaccines are backed by science...

Its a pseudoscience. Untestable

and , once again, we are not speaking of every virus. we are speaking of covid, which is in the cold and flu virus family.

since a strong immune system is very important in not getting cold and flu, it is equally important for not contracting covid.

viral load is how those make a person sick, and the stronger the immune system, the harder it is for the virus to replicate in the body.

and, i am not saying a strong immune system is guarantee against getting anything. i am saying that it greatly increases the odds of not getting covid,

according to their overblown numbers, there is a 98 1/2 % survival rate for covid in america, i'll take a strong immune system and a 98 1./2 chance survival rate, i'll take those odds and roll with them without a doubt or fear.

I agree with 98 1/2 percent of your reasoning. There is quite a lot of unknown about COVID 19. Why it can invade some people and reproduce in abundance before the body reacts to it, and why some people's immune system reacts in such a way that the reaction itself is what kills them. This affects more old people than others but it is not clear why this is. People who have no clue about the medical science have an opinion about why it affects old people but that does not mean they are correct. The Spanish flu affected young people more than old people and they never figured out why. Your healthy immune system theory is unable to explain why more young people with healthier immunes systems died from Spanish flu and old people with what seemed to be weaker immune systems survived.

There are interesting things about Vitamin D deficiencies but that is not a constant in everyone. As much as we know today we don't know everything about viruses and the immune system. Think about it, viruses were discovered in 1892 and vaccines got rolling between 1920-1940s and improved each decade after that. We are still learning and new discoveries about our immune system are still before us.

There could be some unknown complicated cellular machinery missing from old people that no one has identified yet. A vaccine that helps them create an antibody that will block the spike protein in the COVID19 (which is not what the flu uses to invade our cells) can give the person a tank in this battle instead of only relying on the number of foot soldiers that can be thrown at it. If it works and saves lives why roll dice.

because i refuse to submit to gov. tyranny . i will not put anything in my body because some mandate says so.

and, this " so much unknown " talking point is 6 months out of date. there is plenty known about covid now...

and, you contradict yourself- " so much unknown" , then " the vaccine works"

now, if that were said straight up, like this- " there is a lot of unknowns about covid, but take the vax, it is very effective", how confident would you be??

Very...
I'd take the vaccine...I will anyway.

The effects of the vaccines are known. The mRNA and the others are common enough and protect against the virus.

Viruses are nasty bits that do all sorts of bad things. The full extent of what this virus does is not known. They aren't sure exactly which birth defects and sterility factor it produces in us...there's a lot of the long term damages it does that are unknown...but I don't need to know either.
I'd rather have a trusted vaccine vx a unknown virus.

once again, how can there be a trusted vax for an unknown virus??

The actual only new vaccine made in a novel fashion is just now finishing up it's initial trials. The Novovax vaccine.

All of the others have used tried and true methods for creating vaccines before. Even mRNA vaccines have been used in cancer therapies for over a decade.

The Novovax vaccine is the novel technology...the methodology is sound enough but it's had a difficult time in the past. It's been somewhat too strong if such a thing can be said.

I am not a virologist nor an immunologist and neither are you. My casual conversation is about the the unknown factors of our immune system reaction to this virus. Maybe the virologist is not nearly as confused as I am. Maybe they can explain what exactly it is that triggers the deadly storm of immune reactions in some people and not in others and I have not read about it yet, because frankly I am praising God that we have a vaccine and plan to get it and be done with this thing. Solution found. End of story. Moving on to the next challenge like how to plant a church in an area that needs to be evangelized.

This is interesting:

The Novavax vaccine is different from the Oxford/AstraZeneca and the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines. It contains spike proteins, produced by moth cells infected with a genetically modified virus, together with a substance called an adjuvant, which boosts the immune response.

correct, we are not medical experts. but, i can read what medical experts say about a healthy immune system, and how that makes one less likely to get sick from a cold or virus.

and, since God made our bodies, made our immune systems, gave us natural vitamins and minerals to keep it strong and healthy, and YOU say " not good enough for covid" you should think about that.

maybe you should think about trusting God and His design, and not a man-made vax that has harmed people...
