Hello CS1

Yes, salvation is through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ period. Although these additional things like baptism, tithing, giving to the poor etc. are not essential to salvation, they are included in the bible.
Since they are included in the bible, it means that God wants us to do them. We cannot keep disobeying them and making excuses that they are not a salvation issue.

God takes everything that He says seriously and He expects us to have that attitude as well. I have already mentioned the example King Saul (1 Samuel 15) who disobeyed God’s command and did fully destroy the Amalekites and all that they had. King Saul was punished by God for his disobedience although his disobedience was not breaking any of the 10 commandments or disobeying anything mentioned in Deuteronomy, Exodus or Leviticus

There are some things in the New Testament that God tells us to do and I do them and I understand why God wants them to be done.
But for some instructions, I do not fully understand why God wants us to do them and I do not see the benefit of some of the things God has instructed us to do. But I do them any way and I do not believe in making excuses. And when I struggle, I pray and ask God to help me and He does.
Its wise to obey God as he knows best . God's ways are positive not negative .

I don't think those here are making excuses surely not I, however, it is the message to you that needs to ensure you are doing so. And the motivating factor why must be love for God. I too must do the same thing our focus is not to be on them but on yourself. Search yourself to see if you are in the faith, judge if you are doing them IF you are, then you will have great success in teaching others to do likewise. If not then we become Pharisees.

Having a form of godliness but deny the power thereof. Meaning

WE able to look before men as doing the will of God but deny HIS will to change our hearts and mode us into HIS image. Why is that important?

Because if men only see you doing what God said to do and not see Jesus in you, there is no power to be a witness.

He who loves much has been forgiven much....

Of course .

I have listened to discussions between different Christians and also read different posts from CC members regarding the obedience of certain things in the bible and other members dismissing the topic and responding by saying “that this is not a salvation issue”. I am hoping that there are members who will answer the following questions for me:

1. How do you know if something in the bible is a salvation issue?
2. If something is not a salvation issue and is not required for salvation, does that mean that it does not matter to God if it is not obeyed?
Let's ask ourselves how salvation occurs, better yet lets look to scripture.

Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. John 3 KJV

Or.

Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.
A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God. Ezekiel 36 KJV

Salvation is a work of God not a decision or deed of man.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesian 2 KJV

For by grace: the divine influence on the heart, you are saved through faith and this faith is a gift of God.

For godly sorrow worketh/causeth repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
2 Corinthians KJV

Godly sorrow, that is sorrow granted by God the Spirit, causes repentance and faith. However, the sorrow the world feels in the form of the conscience or the law being written on the heart worketh death.

Salvation is given not earned, there is nothing you can do to get it, there is nothing you can do to lose it. You can feed all the poor, be baptized a million times but if you have not been born from of above by God the Spirit you will not enter the kingdom.

Understanding how salvation occurs should clear up your questions. Hope this helps:)

that starts with the one in the mirror.

Hello Adstar

Where in my posts did I say that God helping you will result in you never failing to live up to His will? Now you are accusing me of saying things that I did not say.
So your saying God will fail.. Because His help will not always succeed... You're starting to twist things trying to make your doctrine fit..

If you read the bible you would know that there are promises in the bible that state that God helps you, but you still have a choice. God never forces you to do what you do not want to.
So one can only conclude if God is helping us and we fail then it is because we willfully choose to resist Gods help and sin.. Now what does the Bible say about wilful sin..

Hebrews 10: KJV
26 "For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, {27} But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries."

For example, 1 Corinthians 10:13 says, “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”
It is God’s will for us not to sin and in this bible verse, God makes a way of escape of temptation, but it is up to you whether you choose to take that way of escape or not.
Does not look Good for you if you having been in receipt of the Help of Jesus and you have willfully chosen not to take the way of escape from a sin since the time you have been saved...

Like i said before.. The doctrine you preach assures your own condemnation.. Because you SIN..

You will be ignored now

1. Your arrogant. Thinking your way is the only way and if we do not listen to you we do not listen to God
2 you twist scripture and even after multiple people try to show you you refuse to even discuss it but turn to condemn them
3 you have lied numerous times saying people have not done something they surely have

I am just not willing to play silly games you want to play. Go
Find people who will bow to your almightyness. I refuse
Now I am arrogant. More name-calling

Hi Godcares,

Yes God most certainly wants us to Obey HIm amen.

However, God wants us to obey Him out of love for Him, not from a legalistic relationship.

Remember Jesus will say to those on that day " depart from me, I never knew you". Matthew 7:23.

Yet they will say to the Lord We obey you!

The reason why Jesus says this ( one can read in Matthew chapter 6 and 7), is many has unforgiveness in their heart for mother, father, brother, and sister.

They hate and cover it up with the good they do( so they think). God wants us all to let HIM deal with this,

But we would not.

Many do great works yet still, God knows our heart Intimately. This is what Jesus is saying to the Pharisees who shout to the people OBEY the lAW!

they hid and played a good game but Jesus was not fooled. They asked him about divorce and other parts of the Law NOT just any law but the very Law God gave to Moses, like, " Thou shall not commit adultery ".

Notices Jesus Knows their thoughts and addresses all the Pharisees concerns about Obeying God and the Law with the issue of their heart?

Jesus knew they were adulterers in heart, murders, liars, and idolaters. Yet before men, they wanted to be seen as OBEYING the LAW.

Jesus called them Hypocrites! and said "woe to you Hypocrites" in Matthew 23.

Many people are good at keeping the law before men but have the issue of the heart that will send them right to hell.

They are perverted, liars, idolaters, fornicators, murderers, etc...

Yet they tithe, go to church, work in the community, never even had a speeding ticket but have no relationship with God.

Jesus said IF you love me Obey me, Love must be the reason why because Love is of God. How do I know the work I do is really Love to God and loving God?

it is so simple many theologians have missed it.

Thankfully it is the Lord Jesus who is speaking about in Luke chapter seven starting at verse thirty-six.

Jesus is speaking to those who claim to observe the law flawlessly the Pharisees:

Then a sinner comes in and begins to wash the feet of Jesus with tears. This sinner anointed His feet with the most costly thing this sinner had. The leader of the law was shocked because they too remember all this sinner has done.

Rember Jesus said "IF you love me, obey me" and the question I"asked " how do I know the work I do is really love to God and loving God? "

here is how you can know By your forgiveness you forgive others as you have been forgiven. AS Love love others as you have been shown, love. Forgiveness and love are hands in hand they will be the motivating factor that causes one to DO for others.

IT was clear to Jesus the love of this "sinner' because Jesus said:
tells the story of the debt's forgiven and asked Simon, "Which of them will love him more?”

Simon answered and said, “I suppose the one whom he forgave more.” And He said to him, “You have rightly judged.”

Jesus then said:

“Therefore I say to you, the sinners' sins, which are many, are forgiven, for they loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.”

WE must never forget the price Christ paid for us and remember the great debt HE paid and took unto Himself. If this has happened I can ensure you the word you do will be one of love and Jesus will accept it AS LOVE DONE IN hIS NAME FOR OTHERS.

But if you do the work of God and think you are in right standing with God because of them, remember if you were not forgiven God doesn't know you nor does HE remember your work.
Hello CS1

I agree with you that love should be the motivation to obey God. Without love, obeying God would be drudgery and a burden.

Not only does the fact that God gave His Son to die for my sins make me love Him, but I love Him also because He has shown a personal interest in me and I see this in the prayers He has answered, the miracles that have happened in my life, His guidance and His protection.

You're not reading my posts in context.. It is a reply to your posts.. It is a reply to your teaching. That God will help Christians live an obedient life thus they will be sinless.. My reply was to counter your doctrine.. Of course i am not saying that i have never sinned after getting saved.. I am posting in opposition to the preaching that God helps saved people to stop sinning after they are saved. If God did help us to stop sinning then He would never fail and all saved Christians would live a perfect sinless life..

it’s just something to avoid things when they do that .

this is how you can know what salvstion is , how to receive it ,what God has done to save your soul , what God desires of you ,

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved;

but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:15-16‬ ‭

that’s what pertains to salvation .

the gospel then they will tell you is only Jesus death and resurrection , nothing more . But the gospel that Jesus told us to Believe is what he taught in the four accounts of the GOSPEL . Matthew , mark , luke, and John . Those four books have this promise

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

saved from condemnation

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.”
‭‭John‬ ‭8:51‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The gospel is what Jesus preached when he was baptized and received the Holy Ghost until his death , he then told his followers tomoresch the gospel in all the world to all people and whoever believes would be saved

certainly the thing we hear and believe first is about him dying for our sins and being raised up for our justification , central to the gospel but so are his words essential to our salvation

the idea was that whoever would believe the gospel would be saved which is why we use the term “ salvation “ and find it afterwards in all the epistles and such

if we want to know the truth we should listen to the one God sent and believe what he teaches us

“It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭6:45, 47‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11:27-30‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Jesus has all the correct answers in the four accounts of the gospels it’s part of his mission

“Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.”
‭‭John‬ ‭18:37‬ ‭KJV‬‬

He warns us on the gospel many would distort his word afterwards and that his word is Gods ordained truth for eternal
Life

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

I and my Father are one.”
‭‭John‬ ‭10:27-30‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Security comes from belief

We will never be sinless until glorification. Many are not saved yet and are trying to live as a Christian.
