And...?

You know, you're pretty funny (not really).

Earlier today, on this very thread, you told me, and I quote:

Now, after I refute the latest piece of antibiblical nonsense that John146 posted and you gave a thumb's up to from...wait for it...JAMES CHAPTER 2, you still won't admit your error?

Your problem is PRIDE, friend, and here is the only solution:

James chapter 4

[6] But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
[7] Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
[8] Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
[9] Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.
[10] Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

That is tribulation doctrine for the nation of Israel. This could have taken place 2,000 years ago, but because of the Jew's rejection, Daniel's 70th week has been postponed. Remember, James was written prior to Paul's epistles.
What?!?

Are you saying that what James wrote didn't include the scattered twelve tribes of his day?

If you are, then, again, you really need a lot of help.

lol.

Did you honestly just say that "Daniel's 70th week has been postponed"?

Oh, so God's foreordained timetable has been altered?

Seriously, walk away from your keyboard, fall on your knees, and cry out to God in repentance.

If you do, then he'll forgive you...and show you the truth.

Could you answer the question put forward , so we can all learn from you and grow in wisdom and understanding, please?
21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

Are they saved yet ?

Sigh...

James chapter 2

[1] MY BRETHREN, HAVE NOT THE FAITH OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, THE LORD OF GLORY, WITH RESPECT OF PERSONS.
[2] For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment;
[3] And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool:
[4] Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?
[5] Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?
[6] But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?
[7] Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?

Are these some of those "no Christian is addressed in the book of James" that you're talking about?

Seriously, you need a lot of help.

Thankfully, it's available...if you'll embrace the truth.
The “assembly,” here, is not εκκλησια but rather a συναγωγη—a synagogue.

Christian doctrine?

1 From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?
2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

Who is James speaking to? Who does this describe? Certainly not the early Jewish believers that were scattered in Acts 8.
Who is James speaking to?

I've already shown you.

Would you like to see it again?

Sure, no problem:

"My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons." (James 2:1)

All throughout the epistle of James, he is speaking to his "brethren" or those who have "the faith of OUR Lord Jesus Christ".

Got it?

In the verse just cited, he was reproving HIS CHRISTIAN BRETHREN in relation to being "respecters of persons".

In the verses that you're asking about, he is again addressing things which ought not be found in CHRISTIANS.

In fact, if we back up just a little bit earlier in this very same epistle, then we read:

James chapter 3

[8] But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
[9] Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.
[10] Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

Again, these "brethren" were blessing "God, EVEN THE FATHER".

In case you haven't yet heard, NOBODY has the Father unless they have THE SON:

"Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. " (I John 2:23)

Now, will you deny THIS BIBLICAL TRUTH as well in order to persist in your error?

Time will tell.

And...?

Are you suggesting that CHRISTIANS never met together in synagogues?

If you are, then I'd counsel you to consider the following from Paul's testimony before King Agrippa before ever suggesting such nonsense again:

Acts chapter 26

[9] I verily thought with myself, that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth.
[10] Which thing I also did in Jerusalem: and many of the saints did I shut up in prison, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against them.
[11] And I punished them oft in every synagogue, and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto strange cities.

Paul used to persecute CHRISTIANS IN EVERY SYNAGOGUE.

Just for the record.

In the old testament is there a gap from when Abraham is credited righteousness and when he is justified?
No, not in God's eyes. Why would there be? He was not justified by works.

What's your take on this verse ( genuine question) James 2
21Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?

Abraham's justification didn’t show up till seven chapters after his “imputed righteousness.” That would be more than ten years.

The audience had not received the word and their souls were not yet saved.

21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
Context verse 19 James is addressing them as beloved brethren. Doesn't sound like unsaved folks to me. Says the same thing in verse 16.

Abraham was not justified when he had righteousness imputed to him (Rom. 4:24; James 2:23). his justification didn’t show up till seven chapters after his “imputed righteousness.” That would be more than ten years .Our justification took place the second that God imputed righteousness to us (2 Cor. 5:21).

If James is written to Christians then.
James 2
24Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only

Paul spends 4 chapters on justification, and you are going to try and make a case using James' 4 verses. That's not too bright.

Abraham was justified by faith in the sight of men. James makes a 'see-faith' argument because he is refuting those claiming faith but have nothing to show for it.

Romans 4:2-3 (KJV) For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God. For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

Romans 4:5 (KJV) But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

He already stated that "Our justification took place the second that God imputed righteousness to us (2 Cor. 5:21)."

His point was that James was preaching the gospel of the kingdom to Israel, in which justification and imputed righteousness are 2 separate events.
