On one hand I gotta wonder at what point does paying taxes become the sin of enabling wickedness.
On the other hand, when Jesus said "render to Caesars what is Caesars." it wasn't as if Caesar was not using tax money to fund all sorts of sins.
So where do we draw the line of there is a line at all?

I was also wondering about enabling through taxes.
My husband and I also have talked about enabling businesses that are ok with abortion or homosexuality. It's everywhere. And if we try to avoid it, that basically would mean we're living off the grid and supporting ourselves 100%.
It's a hard thing to work out.
Can anyone imagine that a day would come when pro-life evangelicals would be for abortion-supporting and abortion-funding Biden????? It just goes to show how seriously DECEIVED so many evangelical Christians are. But if they voted for Biden, then they voted for Satan and his agenda. There's no two ways about it.
So now they write a pathetic, whining letter, when they could have rejected dirty Joe altogether. Actually Joe Biden is a sexual predator, so "scumbag" would be quite appropriate. He is also an accessory to the murder of millions of babies.

Not a single genuine Christian should have even given a moment's thought to vote for Joe Biden. Regardless of his position on abortion, it was SERIOUSLY IRRESPONSIBLE to vote for a man who can barely hold it together, and belongs in a seniors' home with constant supervision, since his mind is going.
Those who voted for him voted out of HATRED. (1) Hatred for America, (2) hatred for Constitution, (3) hatred for the rule of law, (4) hatred for the law-abiding citizens of the USA, and (5) above all hatred for Donald Trump. It was all about hatred and nothing else.
There is a fraudulent president in the White House right now, and these so-called evangelicals should have actually asked him to do the honest and ethical thing, and simply step down and step away from the presidency, along with Kamala Harris. That should have been the main thrust of this whiny letter.

Both the government and the thug on the corner will say "Give me your money." Neither really have a rightful claim to it. The reason we give our money to the government is not because we're following any Biblical command, it's ultimately just because we're more scared of the government than we are of the thug on the corner. If you tell the government "No!", then they'll come with guns, take your stuff and throw you in jail. But as soon as the government is no longer able to enforce it, then you'll see most everyone not paying anymore. The funny thing to me is that 501c3 tax exempt churches, loaded down with a bunch of debt, are always telling us "Jesus said to be sure to pay your taxes"! Hahahaha!!! Hypocrites!
But yes, I think you're right that I'm sure that the Romans were funding a bunch of bad stuff with tax money also. I don't think there really is a line, because I don't really think it's a real command. Jesus said that we're exempt from taxes but we pay "lest we offend them." In other words, "pay your taxes so you don't go to jail, because I've got work for you to do that you're not going to be able to do in jail."
I've thought about this same thing. I came to the conclusion that God wants us engaged with the world - even though it will invariably mean that we sin more. I don't think he wants us to run out to the mountains to live in isolation.
The Bible does say that God ordains the powers that be, not because they are necessarily in line with His perfect law of love and liberty, but because of their ability to fend off evil.
Even though governments themselves can do evil things, they fill a power slot that may otherwise be a vacuum for something worse occupy.
Maybe governmental bodies are the restrainer that holds back wickedness eager to be unchained?

there are some things that just DON'T go together:
- toothpaste and orange juice
- oil and water
- forks and power outlets
- the words PRO-LIFE EVANGELICALS and FOR BIDEN
Maybe the question for believers is when does government cease to fend off evil and begin to actively promote it?
At that point does it become our duty to actively resist? I'm assuming the Romans 13 command would not apply under a regime such as the Nazis...
This is what happens when people attempt to mix mutually exclusive things like American politics with Christianity.
It is impossible to put a checkmark in every box that identifies what a democrat is without compromising on subjects of Christian faith.
I've seen people in this very forum defend infanticide because they believed democrats were the lesser of two governmental evils.

And yet there are people in this very forum who claim to be Christian and pro-life and vote Dem.
I guess it's possible for an individual democrat to be pro life, but the whole party seems against it. It's probably the single most important issue to me.
