Yes it is after salvation.

As in buying a car you usually Fill it up AFTER purchase.

You can skip it if you like.

If you like struggling with a no brainer.
Could you show anywhere where Paul taught this . You have 13 epistles to find it ?

If you think Jesus is using the present tense there, why then does Paul said what he said in Romans 11:25-27, and why did Peter told Israel Acts 3:19-21, and 1 Peter 1:9?
First, scholarly texts (called lexicons) TELL US that the word "believe" and "have" are in the present tense. Do you have some knowledge beyond what Greek scholars have?

Second, Rom 11:25-27 is a prophecy about the Second Coming when Jesus Christ crushes the enemy at the battle of Armageddon.

Third, the Acts 3 passage is a vaguely worded gospel message to the Jews.

And fourth, the adverb "receiving the outcome of your faith" is a present participle.

Both of them used the future tense when it comes to when Israel's sins will be forgiven.
Because Rom 11 is a prophecy and 1 Pet 1:9 isn't future tense.

There are so many different topics and ideas and opinions about so many things on this forum. What if someone just wants to get Born Again? Is that complicated and controversial also? Is the on-ramp to salvation hard to find and navigate? What could we say to a lost person just coming in here seeking Jesus?

Let's make at least one thread that is devoid of bickering and arguing and is seeker friendly. Just state how simple it is to come to Jesus and why (don't use it as an opportunity to criticize the previous poster.)

My thought and verse(s) on being/getting Born Again:___________________________

I admire your tenacity in trying to stick to the op. alas, people are so self centered and religious it cannot be done here

The mess can be summed up from II Corinthians 11:

3I am afraid, however, that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may be led astray from your simple and pure devotion to Christ. 4For if someone comes and proclaims a Jesus other than the One we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit than the One you received, or a different gospel than the one you accepted, you put up with it way too easily.

so, we have the following

Romans 10:9-10 "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved."

God will take it from there.

Oyster invited each persons perception

So we all see it slightly different

You in fact gave one piece of the puzzle

And a very good one

A very valuable one.

Your input was a marvelous one.
Thank you....God does keep his promise....if one seeks with all his heart..we must love God..above all others
and the lord says again...seek and you will find...

below..Deut...
27 And the LORD shall scatter you among the nations, and ye shall be left few in number among the heathen, whither the LORD shall lead you.
28 And there ye shall serve gods, the work of men's hands, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.
29 But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.

The needs to be a slight clarification of all the posts I have read.
I like almost all the posting.

But I would add that we are born INTO FAMILY. We become family. We become the adopted into the heavenly family as sons and daughters.
This dynamic is the good news.
We are so much set apart from this world. Our home is now heaven. We switched from a devil father to a heavenly father.

The other clarification is MANS DILEMMA.
The great dilemma.
Holy God <> sinful man.

Jesus is said to be SLAIN FROM THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD.

No "plan b". The remedy always existed. Man need only step into it or receive it.
Is it free ?
Sorta.
It is both free and if accepted entirely will cost you everything.

That is how the used to come into the kingdom

They came in through the radical gospel.

The modern gospel is more liberal. We are the corinthians. We can ride the fence. Surrender part so we can be in "just getting by till heaven" land.
Not a hint of radicalness.

The modern gospel is a man centered gospel
It is centered in me. I am the hub and everything around me is a spoke.
The gospel is but one spoke in MY wheel.

My money is mine, my family mine, my life mine, my image is precious, as is my reputation

None of that is in the original message.

We were supposed to be baptized into the death of the flesh.
Nope.
The modern gospel makes tons of provision for the flesh
So true...the prosperity gospel has done so much damage in people lives....still God warned us about false teaching....people forget that we are here to do Gods will...not ours...as you said....in this life everything is about mine mine mine, money, greed...possession ..
and then there is their end...now bones in a grave...dust....

as the Lord said...what profith it a man to gain the world and lose his soul....

Isaiah...
12 And in that day did the Lord GOD of hosts call to weeping, and to mourning, and to baldness, and to girding with sackcloth:
13 And behold joy and gladness, slaying oxen, and killing sheep, eating flesh, and drinking wine: let us eat and drink; for to morrow we shall die.
14 And it was revealed in mine ears by the LORD of hosts, Surely this iniquity shall not be purged from you till ye die, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.

My thought and verse(s) on being/getting Born Again:___________________________

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:15-16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:

Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭1:22-23, 25‬ ‭

“Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”
‭‭John‬ ‭3:5-6‬ ‭

“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭6:63‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”
‭‭John‬ ‭1:12-13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

To be born again is to do this

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation;

but is passed from death unto life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Yes Oyster...the path is simple....absolute obedience to God....to walk as Jesus did....remembering that Jesus said...I and the Father are One....have the Vision of God ever before you...and you will surely receive the Promise....it is there when you reach the empty tomb
you are following the greatest command to Love God above everything...so we walk without complaining...happy to do as God requires of us

yes the walk will be lonely...but be of a happy heart that the Father is with you all the way...he never deserts his children...never
Are you saying we must walk in absolute obedience to God in order to be born again? I know the red "X" is so harsh, but I disagree SO much. You just preached a false, works based gospel. We can't walk "absolute obedience to God" born again, much less while fallen to earn salvation. The WHOLE problem with the situation we are born into is that we can't walk with God, it's impossible to please God before we are born again. Impossible. What it says is we are to surrender to Him. It's Him that draws us in, to be clear MUCH of the time it is through us, His people, but it is God who grants us repentance, and like me, sometimes He does this when we are all alone.

I also think I see what you're really saying here, it's just the way you worded it didn't sound right at all to me. Maybe what you're saying is we are to seek Him, to go after Him with all we are until He grants us salvation. That I do agree with you on, it's just "the path is simple....absolute obedience to God....to walk as Jesus did", is not possible for us, let alone those who are still lost. One last thing, I disagree still but am going to remove the "x", it just looks so mean. We need a softer one, like the thumbs down or something.

1 John
3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
3:24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

"Agree with most of your post, But the Holy Spirit still speaks to us through the Written Word, yes?"
Jesus modeled how we are to to live, He only did what he saw the Father do, He only said what he heard the Father say. They were under the law. If one wishes to only focus on salvation, "receive salvation and rest there" they may miss all that He has for us to be and do as it is our responsibility to grow in Him as much as we can in this short time of being representing him before we spend eternity with Him.
He draws us all from where we are, but we don't stay where we are, we must be conformed to the Image of the Son before we meet Him.
best wishes

agreed it’s about persevering in his word

living with this understanding in the heart

“And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:46-49‬ ‭KJV‬‬

what is hard for those who’ve been at it awhile to grasp is there was a time that they also didn’t understand thkngs as they do now about repentance . We have to begin in the beginning and continue on in the gospel no matter how far we make it if we are walking in the lord and pressing forward in his teachings the gospel we are going to be saved.

some produce a full harvest of fruit , others less and others even less but they are all being harvested by the harvester and none is cast away because it bore less fruit .

salvation comes by faith and faith by hearing we forst need to be firmly rooted in believing the simplicity of salvation and then we will hear his word

“Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭16:29-32‬ ‭KJV‬‬

So this is true

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:9-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

but this is what it actually means when we begin to understand how salvation brings us into repentance through belief we have to believe the thkngs jesus taught and begin to walk in them but first we have to believe in him and his love shown for sinners then we will believe his words who gave his life

And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.

believing the gospel is enough because it teaches us about repentance and death

“I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭13:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

But more than anything it teaches us Gods view of us repenting so we can actually understand and repent because of the fathers Love towards us who have been wrong

“And he said, A certain man had two sons: And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living. And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want. And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him. And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants. And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son. But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry: For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭15:11-24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

if we believe the gospel well understand Gods word is meant to save and give us life.

It isn’t “ repent sinners or I all destroy you all with my furious vengeance “

To a believer it becomes “ I’m here waiting for you at home where eternal Life is , realize where you are and where I am and turn towards home I will run and meet you on the way your already forgiven as far as my concern son , please come home before it’s too late . If you keep living so far from me you will die , come home and kets have a supper together and get back to Life “

“ Love your Heavenly Father believe and be saved “

the gospel is that message it’s all
About his death and resurrection that’s what makes it all possible but the understanding of the gospel is what we have to believe to be drawn into repentance

“I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭5:32‬ ‭KJV‬‬

repentance comes as a fruit of our belief of the Lords testimony like you are saying exactly what God told him to say while he was in the flesh and that is eternal Life

“For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.”
‭‭John‬ ‭12:49-50‬ ‭

If we believe we will continue in his word and be saved without question

As the Lord said nobody can come unto the Father unless he is enabled...
many have walked the journey...and have found God...there love was God alone...
but with the light also comes great persecution from those who have chosen their own path...

Small story...in this world is a great web....the King warned his children not to venture to the centre and eat...for the poison is deadly....and the spider will set many traps for you to lure you into that dark place...so many disobeyed and eat from the poison....it was sweet...but turned bitter...they lost their sight and were trapped....then came the spider to rule over them....some stood at the edge of the web fearful of the poison...they knew they must obey the king...so the King granted them their sight....
now they could see and warned others approaching the web...those that were blind inside the web were screaming out how lovely it is in the centre....thereby deceiving the innocent....and luring them to their death
