Of course questions will be asked. I just do not want the study to descend into an all-out brawl that accomplishes nothing for anyone. I simply ask for the participants to conduct themselves in a professional manner. I certainly do not think this will be a problem for you. In the event of a sharp disagreement on a particular point, I would be perfectly willing to discuss the matter one-on-one on another thread. It could be a point that I have never considered and I may have to rethink the matter. It happens.

I agree and I hope you will consider my original question in your thread.

I'd like to see a discussion on the one and only time Paul mentioned Hades (Hell) and why the translators did not place the word "Hell" there like they did every other time in the NT where Hades was used.
Then discuss it in it's context.

What is that? Please explain
It is the oposite of the millenial view. As another member once suggested on this site, the historical view offers a platform against which prophecies can be examined.

"Futurism promotes fanciful projections of prophecy into a future that can't be examined against anything. One is based on historical witness...." (Quoted from member HeRoseFromTheDead.)

The future is only history for the One who is eternal. Beginning to smell like Preterism sneaking into a bible discussion as a wolf is sheep's clothing.

Any teaching that cannot stand disagreement is not teaching but an attempt to indoctrinate.

I used to favor the millennialist view but in the end, the millinnal theories simply could not stand the weight of examination. But there are also many preterist theories with which I take issue.

Would you mind sharing one Millennial theory which cannot stand the weight of examination?

I do not want to start chasing rabbits through an endless maze of trails, but I will say this. The prophecies of Daniel represent an impressive outline of human history, not some set of futuristic speculations. This is one thing I would like to examine.

It sounds like you are undecided, so you want to keep studying. Isn't that what a discussion forum should be best suited for?
We really should be able to discuss without every thread descending into argument shouldn't we?
I hope this one works out.

I am certainly not undecided. Having been on both sides of the issue, I no longer have any doubts about which is the stronger view.

It is interesting that I was accused earlier of dismissing anyone who does not agree with me. I have demonstrated no such attitude on this thread, but more than one person has already stood in judgment of me because I do not accept the millenial view of Rev. LOL

People are very often guilty of exactly the things they accuse others of.

I tend to reject the historical view, but I'd love to hear you present it. I'm not entirely decided on eschatology I think it's 'too high for me'
I trust you know I wouldn't be very disruptive; please add me if you do go ahead and do this :)

Sounds like you have the full grasp of Revelation then -
Tell me, why do those that try to teach Revelation ignore 1:3 and 22:10 "THESE THINGS ARE AT HAND"?
Because there is another verse (v 19) which balances things out: Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;

1. THE THINGS WHICH THOU HAST SEEN: ALL THE VISIONS IN REVELATION

2. THE THINGS WHICH ARE: THE PRESENT CONDITION OF THE CHURCHES AND THE LETTERS TO THEM

3. THE THINGS WHICH SHALL BE HEREAFTER: THE BULK OF THE REVELATION PROPHECIES.

One of those things which shall be hereafter is the Millennial reign of Christ and his saints. To ignore that, or to dismiss it, means a lack of appreciation for the things which shall be hereafter.

So what did Jesus mean when He said "The time is at hand"? What He was saying is that those seven churches were to immediately receive those letters sent by the hands of angels, and after the book of Revelation was completed, the events of the first five seals would go into effect (as noted in the Olivet Discourse).
