I Have a real odd fascination with sword's and point's.

When I was a kid, I use to like to stare at pointed objects like ice pick's and what not, for no apparent reason other than because they had points.

my question is, what is idolotry, and is it wrong to have sword's for the sake of staring at a point? It sound's stupid but, I can't shake this fascination.

It's not associated with the intention to harm anyone, but I like the Idea of having Sword's because they have a point.

you know, I read up on what these number's mean and 111 is asserted to read "follow your intuition " is satan just bothering me? And ask I wrote this my phone dinged and said No. I don't know whether or not these Number's are From God.

I Wish The Bible Said Something About this. I don't practice witchraft so they couldn't be for that reason but I Also Read They are associated with the occult. I'M Starting to get confused.

Trying way too hard to read meaning into nothing.

Web sites are written in code. To change the color of your text you select the color box. In this case the color box also shows you the hex code associated with the color. This has been around for decades. It's not a message, your hand just bumped the color selector.

You’re okay! Your brain is high functioning and able to take in a lot of data but, gets confused with how to store all the data.

No worries, take a deep breath, then breathe out and give all the confusion or data overload to Jesus...He will process it for you. Peace to you, in the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.

"What is sin, what is idolatry?".
Guess what? The law of God expounds perfectly on such matters. Have a read.

Just cool down and drop that. What you saw had nothing to do with what you mentioned.

Look up hex color codes...it's pretty interesting tbh.

I thought it was strange why it was called hex codes at first but then I recalled hexagon... I also think it's odd that sex = six as a prefix that very few people use but the etymology is there lol. I could go on a pretty obvious tangent with the number 6 but numerology is mostly just one step away from circumstantial evidence in the court of my own mind (barely credible but occasionally a modifier for debate) If there is too much synchronicity then I am inclined to consider it on some level...I guess I say all that to say that you can see stuff easily in it but it gets very "horoscopey" if you do. Numbers have a purpose for sure...but proper interpretation is key :)

I think your misunderstanding.

reading doesn't help when you conceptually do not understand what something is such as "idolotry" as God would consider it.

And the fact you did not glean that fr what I wrote, is a perfect example of what I meant and is the exact reason I'm asking the question, because I don't understand what it is Contextually.

Was I addressing you personally at all in that post?

Idolatry in a modern context is having something usurp the Lord in your life or have a sort of carved out altar within yourself that you do homage to this thing and are sort of a subject of this thing (like one would be to a god). That's what I'd say to a general group of people but it can certainly still take on an "Old Testament" context and involve pagan "gods" in some fashion. It's late and I'm tired but maybe I can expand a bit tomorrow. Analyzing whether something is skewing is different for everyone I imagine but if I felt led to read scripture and "nah, I'm going to do this thing instead" or maybe I haven't prayed in a while..."later, I'd rather do this...or how about a quick prayer and then give this thing my full attention again." Putting the Lord second above something else for me. Like there have been times I've spent 5-10 minutes in actually making an effort in my relationship with the Lord and spent hours and hours gaming or watching stuff.

Idolatry maybe could be understood in the context of harlotry or adultery. I think spiritual adultery/harlotry is closely related to idolatry (if not synonymous) but the example below is human to human.

So if you had a wife and committed adultery...that would be having someone else in place of her. Being unfaithful.

An idol is sort of like that. It takes the place of the Lord and is inappropriate. You shall have no other gods before me...
it's about being faithful to the Lord for me. Not having something on the side or allowing anything that isn't your beloved a place in your heart.

Some "quirks" or what I call "isms" ...they're just part of your own uniqueness and I don't see them as harmful but things can get out of balance for sure and that's when it could skew into idolatry.

Perhaps a bit vague but hopefully that helps a little bit.

An interesting example of idolatry is the bronze snake healing rod:

Numbers 21:8-9 "The LORD said to Moses, "Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live." So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake, they lived."

2 Kings 18:4 "He removed the high places, smashed the sacred stones and cut down the Asherah poles. He broke into pieces the bronze snake Moses had made, for up to that time the Israelites had been burning incense to it. (It was called Nehushtan.)"

These passages also give some context to what does not count as a graven image in the second commandment of Mosaic Law. This symbol of a snake and a rod is used in modern medical symbols:

It's not the object that makes something an idol, it is the behaviour toward the object. The same question might be put to modern Roman Catholic Patron Saints, such as St. Christopher for finding lost things or Mother Mary. Are these idols? They can be. That dividing line isn't always clear. "What is idolatry?" is a good question and a good discussion piece.
