I graduated..hmm..what now?...

I graduated from high school on May 14th.
I'm suppose to go "Yay, schools finished!" right?
The thing is I'm so confused and unsure about what to do now!
There's so many decisions! (And if you knew me you'd know I was the most indecisive person ever!)
I would like to go to college, but college is so expensive, and I'd need to figure out what I would be going for first. Also, I am somewhat interested in going on a trip to Peru. The trip is 11 months, and it counts as a full year of college, but I don't know if I should. I don't know. Sometimes I feel like a trapped animal. This all came so fast! I just want to run away from life, I get so scared.

I guess I'm just scared of growing up.:)

Help?

I need advice.

I think if you're not one of those people who has always known what they want to do with their lives (like those kids who are determined to be a doctor or lawyer, you know the type), then it's not a bad idea to hold back on going to college until you know what to do. That said, it really doesn't matter much to employers what your degree is in. Just get a Bachelors in something. It's almost a requirement nowadays. (My dad used to make jokes about getting a Bachelors in basket weaving. I've come to learn he wasn't really joking.)

I can totally related to the scared of growing up part, but it's a great comfort to know that God has a super awesome plan for our lives. and that though we don't know what is coming we know it will be good..
I will be graduating in two week!! Till then I have EXAMS!!!
 
Congrats! I also graduated but that was last year. When I finished, I had so many plans mainly on having fun, playing games and alike. But those where MY plans and most have not happened, ask God to reveal HIS plans for you and for His will to be done in your life. You will be surprised by what will happen, but you will be grateful, coz His plans are the best! God bless
 
Yeah, it is somewhat scary, but you will be okay. Day by day, step by step, decision by decision, and you are not alone.

In my opinion, which is only my opinion, and may not be what your heart is saying and what is in your best interest, but enrolling in a study abroad program is a good idea, alot of fun, a good learning experience. If I had college to do over, and it was affordable and I would not be in debt, I would choose to travel to another country, as long as safe.

What language does Peru speak? Do you speak their language?

I think also, in the future when you submit resumes, fill out job applications or even be married or have children, that having an experience such as traveling to another country would make you more interesting and stand out more to an employer, and give you experiences to share with your coworkers, children, and husband, and for your own keeping.

If you like to write, or do not mind to write, keeping a journal in a paper notebook or on a laptop computer is a good idea.

If you do a search on the internet, or even ask the admissions counselors at a college, there christian study abroad programs, and you are not required to be enrolled at a University.

I say live it up a little in a healthy way, while young!!!

The first thing, if you haven't already done so, is to fill out your FAFSA for next year (www.fafsa.ed.gov), which is what makes you eligible for financial aid. (If you haven't done it yet, you will have already missed the priority deadline for some schools.)

College may be more or less expensive, depending on where you go, but financial aid is available, much of which won't have to be payed back. If you don't want to pay university prices, community college is cheap and you can follow a transfer program to transfer to a university later. Also, public universities often have reasonable prices while in many cases still providing an excellent education.

You don't have to figure out what you are going for first. You will have to get your GE's (general education) done either way, and being in school while you work on those will allow you to be in an environment where you will be exposed to the various majors and programs that are available, and talk to other students and sample classes in various majors, which will help you figure out what you want to do.

There are two main questions when picking a major. The first is figuring out what you're interested in. The second is looking at the demand for that field, and how much it pays. Ideally you want to find a good balance between the two. I can give advice for choosing a major if you need it.
