I am thinking " The Gospel" may be the very Presence of Christ
having not yet read all the replies, but Nehemiah6 was on the money. because the forerunner John the Baptist/the second witness, of the TWO WITNESS, in the spirit of Elijah, that was to come, set the stage for the Gospel of Jesus. for it was, Matthew 3:1 "In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea," Matthew 3:2 "And saying,
Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Matthew 3:3 "For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying,
The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight."
now what he made straight is what Nehemiah6 was alluding to, and here's the scripture, to comfirm what Nehemiah6 was saying, Mark 1:1 "The beginning
of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;"there it is.
why is the Gospel of Jesus christ "GOOD" news? answer, for he is our "COMFORT" of SALVATION, in person... supportive scripture, Luke 2:25 "And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for
the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him."
here the term "
consolation" is the Greek word, G3874 παράκλησις paraklesis (pa-ra'-klee-sis) n.
1. an imploration, entreaty (urgent request (for mercy or
help)).
2. an exhortation (urgent counsel, encouragement, or caution).
3.
a comfort, solace.
[from G3870]
KJV:
comfort, consolation, exhortation, intreaty
Root(s): G3870
see, the Lord Jesus, is our "COMFORT"/COMFORTER in flesh, in Salvation, how do we know this, just listen to what Simeon the man said, Luke 2:28 "Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said," Luke 2:29 "Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word:" Luke 2:30 "
For mine eyes have seen thy salvation," Luke 2:31 "Which thou hast
prepared before the face of all people;" Luke 2:32 "A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel."
AND, Anna, a prophetess, Preached Jesus the SAVIOUR.
Luke 2:36 "And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity;" Luke 2:37 "And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day." Luke 2:38 "And she coming in that instant
gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem."
THERE IT IS, JOHN PREACHING "REPENTANCE", AND ANNA, "REDEMPTION, ALL IN ONE....... "GOSPEL".
The Lord Jesus, God's own ARM in Flesh is our "COMFORT", and when this same Jesus died, and Rose, and Glorified in a NEW BODY, (THIS IS THE GOSPEL OF JESUS THE CHRIST), scripture, Romans 14:9 "For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living." BINGO, he now dwells with us inward, (Spirit of TRUTH), which is the Holy Ghost, the "COMFORTER", as John said... "ANOTHER" Comforter, but instead of being in flesh, now in SPIRIT. see the First "COMFORTER" was in Flesh and blood, (to DIE for our sins). but now the GOOD NEWS, he is in us by HIS "Spirit". scripture, John 14:16 "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you
another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;" John 14:17 "Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you."
John 14:18 "
I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you."
and he did come, on the day Pentecost.
so yes, this is the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the COMFORT of all people,
Isaiah 40:1 "
Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God."
Isaiah 40:2 "Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the LORD'S hand double for all her sins."
Isaiah 40:3 "The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway
for our God."
Isaiah 40:4 "Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:"
Isaiah 40:5 "And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it."
the COMFORT of SALVATION is for all NATIONS. what "Good" news for US ALL.
