I think all church doctrine has roots in Constantine. He made the change from Saturday worship to Sunday worship law in order to not do anything Jews did. He made it a law to not celebrate Passover but substitute Easter, changing the date. He made deciding about church doctrine something a group of men did instead of going to scripture. The church that Christ started was called "The Way" and it completely died out after only about 500 years after Christ. It was very different from our church today.

When exactly did the Catholic Church start to associate itself with the primacy of the Bishop of Rome? According to you.
There wasn’t an exact time this began to happen. It developed over centuries but if I were to point to a time when the papacy was clearly asserting it’s primacy I would have to point to the crowning of Charlemagne by pope Leo III in 800. Not to say the See of Rome wasn’t asserting primacy before then but not to the extent that it was following Charlemagne’s crowning. Especially after in the Photian dispute culminating in the great schism of 1054.

He built St. Peter Basilica in 319AD, he gave the Lateran Palace to the Church that the Popes presently live in, and the Land "Vatican City" sits on was donated by Constantine

We Will Disagree
The donation of Constantine is a medieval forgery. Your giving too much credit to the modern RCC. Yes, Constantine built many churches including the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. But he did not donate all the land the see of Rome claimed for centuries ( at least until the Lateran treaty with Mussolini in 1929). That was part of the forgery.

Sunday worship was a settled fact long before Constantine.

From the Didache, a first century church manual. Cf Rev 1:10.
But every Lord’s day do ye gather yourselves together, and break bread, and give thanksgiving after having confessed your transgressions, that your sacrifice may be pure. 2 But let no one that is at variance with his fellow come together with you, until they be reconciled, that your sacrifice may not be profaned. 3 For this is that which was spoken by the Lord: In every place and time offer to me a pure sacrifice; for I am a great King, saith the Lord, and my name is wonderful among the nations.

The quartodecimans were a sect in Asia Minor that may have survived until the fifth century. Much of the dispute seems to be uncertain even in Constantine’s time. They may have had a point about the celebration of Easter but the majority of church had already decided when it was to celebrated before Constantine.
yet to say that the early church of “the way” had died out is in my view is false. That would have meant the gates of hell prevailed against the church thus making Jesus a liar. I prefer the view that doesn’t make my Lord a liar. I’m sure you do as well.

The Jews observed a lunar calendar which is why 14 Nissan changes yearly. It’s not pagan. Know your scripture.

I really want to know if you attend a local church. Most of the posters I’ve observed posting nonsense usually are not under the care of a pastor.

So you don’t attend a local body of believers. Right? The church less believer isn’t found in scripture either but that doesn’t seem to bother you.

I would plead with you to be a part of a local congregation. You need this. Or you become just another one of the many posters here who as I say roll and smoke their own theology.

There are a significant amount of writings from early Christians between that time period and they were very clear about their beliefs.

Nobody has denied the church existed before constantine

1800 bishops were invited to the 1st nicean council called by Constantine, only 318 showed up, let's you see the early churches stance on Constantine

The persecution of the Church for hundreds of years probably played a role in that. And travel wasn’t exactly an easy process in that time either. In any case, the council got the creed right so praise God.

It always "just kills me" when people talk as if 'The Church' started with Constantine - as if it didn't exist on-its-own since Christ. :rolleyes:

Constantine wanted a State Church. So, he started one. He purposely went about it in a way to make it appeal to pagans, Christians, and Jews.

Many of those from the true churches "fell for it" and became a part of Constantine's Church.

The rest held fast to the Bible doctrine they had been taught.

They became 'targets' for centuries by the Pagan Church.
