The original question is really politically slanted. That is rather unfair for us Christians who can only view this matter through a spiritual lens. As a spiritual question it is hard enough.

Hebrews 12: 14 Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. 15 See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many. 16 See that no one is sexually immoral, or is godless like Esau, who for a single meal sold his inheritance rights as the oldest son. 17 Afterward, as you know, when he wanted to inherit this blessing, he was rejected. Even though he sought the blessing with tears, he could not change what he had done

Galatians 4: 28 Now you, brothers and sisters, (the Churches of Galatia - New Covenant Israel), like Isaac, are children of promise. 29 At that time the son born according to the flesh persecuted the son born by the power of the Spirit. It is the same now. 30 But what does Scripture say? “Get rid of the slave woman and her son, (Sinai-covenant Jerusalem) for the slave woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with the free woman’s son.” 31 Therefore, brothers and sisters, we are not children of the slave woman, but of the free woman.

The more I think about this question, the more wrong it seems. You are asking us to take sides, when the only side we should choose is God's side. So in this matter we know that God disciplines ('I will discipline him with the rod of men'), but ultimately for a purpose, ('my steadfast love will not depart from him').

As the Church we understand God's judgment, and that we are to choose who is perfect (Christ) but equally we understand our own fragile position:
Romans 11:20 Do not be arrogant, but tremble. 21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, he will not spare you either

I find the question really perverse actually - there is this really horrible war going on, and I think rather than cheerleading one side or the other, the Church should be praying for peace, the peace of Jerusalem, peace throughout the Middle East. End of.

No, the OP wasn't slanted at all. RS said "This is just my interpretation" and invited people to give their POV. Israel does make peace, as much as is within them. They have given up land for peace. It's the Arabs, particularly the Hamas terrorists, that do not want peace but want the Jewish people pushed into the ocean. The Arabs have been offered land at least 3 times and have turned it down. Israel sits on 1% if the land in the ME and they can't even have that as a homeland? smh This both political and spiritual. We are heading into the end times and this is where Israel takes center stage.

None of this takes away from the fact that there is a remnant of Jews that will be saved. They will be saved the same way we all are, by faith. Not under the law, but under grace.

God's side is with Israel, the apple of His eye. He has promises yet to fulfil to the Jews and that He will do.

So in this matter we know that God disciplines ('I will discipline him with the rod of men'), but ultimately for a purpose, ('my steadfast love will not depart from him').

Romans also tells of "grafting in again" and He will take away their sins. Paul is talking to his people, the Jews, not to the church.

Yes, the Bible tells us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. It also tells use to bless Israel and those who do not will be cursed. I find it perverse that Christians don't seem to know a terrorist group, Hamas, when they see one. Israel is not in the wrong in this war. Hamas attacked them and they are defending their homeland, the same as the US would do if Canada were throwing rockets at them and tunneling into their country. Well, Biden probably wouldn't. He'd open the borders and say come on in. But that's a horse of a different color. Historically, Biblically the land Israel, was given to the Jews by God Himself. The land belongs to them. Anyone who comes against them will not succeed. Israel is the apple of His eye still today.

But the bottom line KG surely is the same one as 2000 years ago. Choose life or death. Choose Jesus Christ or choose to be endlessly under the cosh, cursed, attacked by your neighbours, etc etc. I don't say these things with any joy - far from it, I find what is going on in the Middle East really horrifying, and I know as Christians we are not supposed to live in fear, but frankly, I think it is also quite frightening for the world.

The Jews will choose Christ. They are now blinded for a time. When Christ returns again He's not landing outside a Wal-mart in Montana. He is coming back to Israel, the apple of His eye.

Israel is defending against wickedness.
Not some arbitrary war.

Well I was going to respond to Oldsage, but you all said everything needed to say. We are praying for Israel, but here is a shocker. I do not pray for peace but rather God's will to be done. God's will may not be peace.

Ok, but show Scripture Kayla. This is important stuff.

Romans 11 23 And if they do not persist in unbelief,

Deuteronomy 30 10 if you obey the Lord your God and keep his commands and decrees that are written in this Book of the Law and turn to the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

These are conditional promises, so to boldly assert something WILL happen is wrong.
it will happen IF.
That is at least what Scripture says.

You mean God is punishing Israel with war, as so often in the Old Testament?
It is possible, but it is very depressing if that is the case.

I really wish we could mover forward to the Millenial reign, and a state of blessing.
What we have now is grim beyond words; actually I feel embarrassed to be European.
The Jews should be safe in Europe and not need to go this war-torn hell-hole.
And European Leaders, if they were really Christian, would be praying right now for this mess to stop.

Right now it looks like God is using Israel to judge Hamas and surrounding terrorist cells. Israel is being hit but not near as hard as Hamas. Israel's iron dome is really effective.

You must remember yes mankind has free will and a choice but we are also within God's sovereignty. God's will, will come to pass even in the midst of our choices. God warned the Israelites they would face exile and constantly told them to repent. Some generations did but most did not. So they were exiled. Even before exile, God was saying that it wouldn't be forever and that they will return. Did God make them return? Or did the people finally cry out to God in repentance and a true heart?

Revelation tells us of the coming Kingdom that will be set forth in the 1000 year reign but before this, the events in Israel will get worse than we see today.

There is no if in prophecy.

Zechariah 14
English Standard Version

The Coming Day of the Lord
14 Behold, a day is coming for the Lord, when the spoil taken from you will be divided in your midst. 2 For I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city shall be taken and the houses plundered and the women raped. Half of the city shall go out into exile, but the rest of the people shall not be cut off from the city. 3 Then the Lord will go out and fight against those nations as when he fights on a day of battle. 4 On that day his feet shall stand on the Mount of Olives that lies before Jerusalem on the east, and the Mount of Olives shall be split in two from east to west by a very wide valley, so that one half of the Mount shall move northward, and the other half southward. 5 And you shall flee to the valley of my mountains, for the valley of the mountains shall reach to Azal. And you shall flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the Lord my God will come, and all the holy ones with him.

Israel is no more the apple of Gods eye, than the Palestinian or any other ethnic human is

God has no respect for person

God mentions in Romans 11 the "Remnant Church" that will be saved, Israel as a whole is blinded to salvation through Jesus Christ

God likens Jerusalem to Sodom and Egypt spiritually in Rev 11:8, as many call it the Holy Land today, Wrong

The Jews as a whole honor the Talmud in Rabbinical writings over scripture, and many are involved in the Occult through the Kabbalah, and you claim Jews are the apple of Gods eye based upon race, Real Big Smiles! :giggle:

But once the blindness is lifted, then we will see the reign of Christ.
