Spiritual fruit. I think God separating light from dark was the start of Free Will. Light is good, righteous choices.

Someones light could be darkness

Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness.

I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

To give light to them that sit in darkness

“In the presence of God, who gives life to all, and of Christ Jesus, who gave a good confession before Pontius Pilate, I charge you to keep this command without fault or failure until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ. God will bring this about in His own time. He is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings, and the Lord of lords, who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see, to Him be honor and eternal power. Amen” (1 Timothy 6:13-16 in the Christian Standard Bible).

In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
Genesis 2:7
King James Version

7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Is this the same life Did adam and eve recieve the holy spirit also ?

John 20:21-22
21 So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” 22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.

is this same breath of life breathed on adam and eve Here we see people here recieving the holy spirit through breath of life from Jesus is this the light of all men ie the breath of life.
Are both breath of lifes the same ?
Did we all in herit the life from adam and eve ? and was that life also the light of all mankind.

Jeremiah 1:5, “the word of the Lord” came to the prophet Jeremiah, who was a young man at the time. God said to him: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born

Does this scripture apply to every one ? are we alive in spirit before where born.

Is it our soul that is the life and light that lives in all mankind ?
Or is it the holy spirit or is it both

I Agree 100%

Genesis 1:26KJV
26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Colossians 1:16-18KJV
16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

The same was in the beginning with God.”
‭‭John‬ ‭1:1-2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

And God saw the light, that it was good:

and God divided the light from the darkness.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1:1-4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It’s Gods word brother he has always spoken forth light to man but we kept turning to the darkness now we have a new chance in the gospel to be filled with the light

“For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

God is one . But he has given us two testaments one is for the natural the other is for the spiritual.

Your claim is in error, both old and new testaments are spiritually inspired and are Gods words

The difference is, Jesus Christ abolished the "Old" in the sacrifice of animals blood, and in the "New" testament of his blood was shed upon Calvary, sacrificed "Once" for the sins of the world

brother you are exactly right here you should consider this scripture carefully

“And not as Moses, which put a veil over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:

But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same veil untaken away in the reading of the old testament;

which veil is done away in Christ. But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the veil is upon their heart.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭3:13-15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

You could learn amazing things of you could grasp what Paul’s explaining in allllll those sections of verses like this

because you probably have read the law of Moses before , if you understood what it is for you would flourish I can tell . Pride is an enemy

this is what the laws purpose is

“Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭3:19-20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

and this is what the gospel Jesus preached is for please note this is the righteousness of God apart from the law without the law but it was witnessed by the law and prophets

“But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;

Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭3:21-22‬ ‭KJV‬‬

the law is not for salvation , redemption or anything we need it’s for condemning us for sins and holding us guilty before God without any excuse.

the gospel is for redemption , imparting righteousness through faith hearing the gospel and believing it

You would flourish if you could let other ideas in and not worry about if it’s your thought or someone else’s were meant to work together to a better understanding especially when the ideas come dorectly from sections of scripture that make their own statements like Paul does above there.

There’s a veil over the Old Testament it’s not reality it’s only a shadow a poor reflection of the gospel

God bless

Jesus. He existed before the foundation of the world.
Im so confused sorry for my lack of understanding.
I dont want to cause an argument, i really dont know the answer to this.
From my understanding a person has to accept Jesus into there life befor they can be saved.
I understand that if you accept Jesus into your life you also recieve the holy spirit.
But here in John we see this scripture refering to a light allready existing in mankind.
Read it again.
John 1:9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world.

John 1:4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.

My understanding is not all of mankind has accepted Jesus as there lord and saviour.
So what would be the light that lives in all mankind ?

Some say that the light that lives in all mankind is the word of God.
But how can that be so when not all of mankind has accepted Jesus and the new covenant.

We see that the word of God lives in all mankind.
Jer 31:33-34 “I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest.

Theres a possability that the light that lives in all mankind could be the word of God
But again not all have accepted Jesus.
I am leaning towards the light that lives in all of mankind is the word of God but im not fully convinced.
I feal the light that lives in all mankind could be the word and the soul plus something else, but im not quite sure what that something else is.
It Could be the mind its self. As the mind is a beautiful creation.

im not sure if this relates to the mind
Matthew 6:22
22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy,[a] your whole body will be full of light.

What I meant was that because Jesus existed before the foundation of all that was created, that this light exists from the start. Even before the word.

Perhaps this is a clue? Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Perhaps that verse suggests that this light existed in us since we were made in the image of God?

Perhaps this is another clue: Romans 2:14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: 15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)

Job didn't have the law, yet he was commended by God as righteous. There is some light in us before the law was revealed to us. We know that much, we just might not be sure exactly how.

I personally don't regard those pictures altogether the same thing, but I know what you are saying, I too saw the one breath as being the same, but I dont anymore. Sometimes I regard them as contrasted in some ways. And there are other reasons why I do not according to what is written elsewhere, but to keep it simple I dont regard forming the body of the first man and his become a living soul there the same as the quickening spirit in the last Adam. On one level. Only because the first Adam was just formed (from the earth itself) man of the earth and became by the breath of God there a living soul (man of the earth) he who formed, made and created he them. The others (for example His diciples) were already formed (so to speak) even though death passed upon all men through Adam (but they were still alive in the body in first Adam) if I can put it that way. The first man (Adam) needed the body (from the dust of the ground) animated (and his own spirit to be a living breathing soul). The same all men of the earth have whereas the disciples needed the Holy Spirit in them (to the effect of the spiritual man) animated. I dont know if I can put this as accuraretly as I can in explaining myself. But thats how I am catching this between them, but I also know we do have the fall to consider (Adam alive prior to the death passing on to all men by him) and we also know Adam did not physically die in the exact day (literally so ) when he ate from the tree as he was told he would but that does not mean that he did not die in the day (since a day can be as a thouand years in scripture) and Adam lived to be 930 years ( so he was well within that time period when it come to his physical death) so that does not make dying in the day he an error or anything.

And also, just to be clearer if I can be, its not that I do not regard the spirit in a man as not being from God because God made the beasts at that time too and they too have a spirit given them. The first man being a living soul, the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. The first man is of the earth and earthy and the second man is from heaven, these still bear two different images bewteen them. See 1Cr 15:47

But this one for me is probably the hardest for me to explain how I regard it, but just go by what the scriptures say to you as you consider them and it begins to open up more and more and not my own jumbled mess above of an explanation, I dont really like explaining things out of my own words, and some things are a little harder to bring together when you are considering things outside the realm of the garden in other area of scriptures which can help us see things a little better.

I used to regard one (man of the earth) as a patern for the other (the man of heaven) as it pertained to us in respects to the breath there but there is an image we bear in the one (Adam, natural) and the image we are to bear in the other (Christ, heaveny). There is the spirit in a man (which sustains the natural body) and the Spirit of Christ (the spiritual body). Thats somewhat how I see these things.

Lol that was a long drawn out explanation lol.
Thanks for your reply i think i get what your saying and thanks for taking time to explain.
I would like to think that the living soul breathed into adam was from heaven and that the soul is also a living entity (a spirit).
Perhaps in the garden when adam and eve ate from the tree of knowledge it was there spirit that died (became corrupted)
And this is why we all need to be born again of the holy spirit.
My understanding is befor our souls could inherit the holy spirit God had to be born as a man to defeat sin so that a new spirit could be given to man.
Which kind of makes me think that perhaps adam and eve where born of the spirit in the first place until the day they ate from the tree of knowledge.
My understanding is It was the spirit of man which inherited a sinful nature that was passed down to there children from adam, It wasnt the carnal mind or the flesh that inherited the sinful nature.
I also feel that satan corrupted the wisdom of tree of Knowledge and when adam and eve ate from that tree it was there soul that became corrupted which effected us all.
Satan then became death for us all untill Jesus our saviour defeated this death and sin.
This is some what how i see it.

Actually that was really a bad read, I am really bad at my own words and framing them correctly, and I agree it was too long and even I had difficulty reading through that blundering blithering reply and there was not much time to go back and edit.

I would stay with how you are seeing it and let it expand for you as you continue looking at it. There is so much in there that is really beautiful beyond just first man of the dust but the mystery of Christ and the church in that picture. Theres like one picture atop of another where sometimes I identify more with the woman (taken out of Adam) which is a figure of the last Adam we want to be found in.

Heres some verses you can look at which show somewhat of a more simplictic patern in them.

In first Adam (man of the earth) a patern in Jesus Christ

Gen 2:20... but for Adam there was not found an help meet **for him**.

We are the flesh of his flesh and bone of his bone out of this doing

21 And the Lord God caused **a deep sleep** to fall upon Adam, and he slept;

Likewise in the Adam (man from heaven) a picture of his side is also shown

John 19:33 But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was **dead already**

And just as in the first man Adam it shows God taking a rib (or part) out of Adam

and he took one of his ribs (or part from his side) and closed up the flesh instead thereof;

The same opened side in Christ (last Adam) Lord from heaven

John 19:34 But one of the soldiers with a spear **pierced his side**, and forthwith came there out **blood and water**.

And then back in first Adam he made a woman

22: And the rib (or part) which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman,

Paul points out that these two (of the first man and woman) is a great mystery

Ephes 5:32 This is **a great mystery**: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

We are his body, we came out of Adam (first man) and are in Christ (the saviour of the body)

Ephes 5:23 Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

And as Jesus said

John 6:44 No man can **come to me**, except the Father which hath sent me **draw him**

Even as we likewise see here

and God **brought her** unto the man.

And as Adam (first man) said of her...

Gen 2:3 Adam said, This is **now** bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

Adam being a figure of him who was to come shows the Lords body

Ephes 5:30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

Again of Gen 2:3 Paul says

Ephes 5:32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

So I know its speaking more there then just dirt and flesh man, that there is a mystery there and it applies to the church in Jesus Christ, so I am not missing that per se' but sometimes its hard to order things up as you would like.

I would stay ith how you are seeing it, theres nothing at all wrong with that I just might compare somethings differently.

John 1:9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world.

John 1:4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.

Question What was the light that lived in all mankind before Jesus came into the world
Joh 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
Joh 1:9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

Jesus lights every person that comes in to the world.

Which means that every person born in to this world has the opportunity to see the light of Jesus and be saved, and the darkness comprehends it not for no matter the deception in a person's life the light of Jesus can reach them.

Nobody had this life, light, in them before Jesus came.

Nobody had this life, light, in them before Jesus came.
When adam and eve ate from the tree they did not die a physical death, but yet they died. so what died in them ? It must have been the life and the light that God breathed on them (there soul was life and light).
All tho this life died in them it was still in them they just needed an eternal plan to cleanse there life (there soul)and realight them.

More proof that the life and light in adam and eve didnt completely die is what Jesus said to the thief on the cross when he said to the thief tonight you will join me in paradise.

More proof the life and light didnt completely die in adam and eve is

Mathew 27 Here we see the life and light in theese holy men where cleansed and brought back to life. meaning there soul is life and light.

50 And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.
51 At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split 52 and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. 53 They came out of the tombs after Jesus’ resurrection and[e] went into the holy city and appeared to many people.

More over whelming evidence is God said in Genesis let us make man in our image.
God is light the bible tells us as much

1 John 1:5
5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.

Here we see God is light and in Genesis God said let us make man in our image in Genesis.
This shows there was light in men from Jesus albeit it became darkend in man but still in them.

God is spirit + light, he said let us make man in our image, Then breathed a living soul (a spirit into man)

My Question what was the the life and light that exists in all men.

is it there soul ?

I hope ive explained this a bit better now.

John 1:9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world.

John 1:4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.

Question What was the light that lived in all mankind before Jesus came into the world
The light wasn't living in all mankind. All mankind was dying.
