not blaming demons. what I am saying, is that if you are not sober, that is drunk, you have left yourself open

people do things they would not normally do when sober

again, I am contrasting drunkeness here and nothing else
I agree..

Ive also seen an evil spirit take over a person who was mentaly ill. unsound in the mind.

This was just last year he was wheel chair bound bound for the rest of his life from a car crash and had brain damaged to. his condition was really bad brain judders all the time and nervouse afflictions all over his body never speaks just smiles at people,
He was calm and being pleasant and the next thing he just became highly abusive towards a female nurse swearing and cursing lasted for about 10 minutes or so.
The transformation i witnessed was so frightening to watch.
Its the only time he speaks everyday he does it doesnt speak all day smiles at people and just explodes for 10 minutes.

I quite clearly saw his mind go into a rage and the colour of his eyes change.
1 minute earlier he was being pleasant to nurse the next he was quite clearly became possessed. I saw the presence of evil with him in his eyes, Its something ive spotted my whole life.

I just know when i see an evil spirit take over a person mind ive witnessed it my whole life.

well whats the point to me saying all this. well being unsound in the mind doesnt just mean being unsober in mind from drink or drugs. etc it also means not being alert to the enemy. being sober in the mind means also to be healthy in the mind.
im fully aware of this. I really do care for people in this field.

I still pray for him to this day. ive seen it in other people to. i attended a trauma based hospital for 2 years and the amount of people i saw that nurses could not get through to
was quite high. there was one lad who fell of the scaffolding whilst working
he landed on a brick and broke his lower spine will never walk again. he also suffered brain damage. But he became a christian just like me. where both good friends now. and hes the same as me gets tormented by an evil spirit. he sees them and knows when there present. same as me he wakes up some morning to a demon possessing him and feals it leave him as he wakes up.

personally, I think a person is open to demonic influence if they become drunk
I agree , absolutely with what you have said here...
It is a great reminder , or one of the reasons I do not want to fall back into alcohol , because for me it would open a door for the demons to play with my mind , and after all , the mind is like a play ground to them , more so with my mind because I have suffered with mental illness for most of my life , and I have seen what they have done to me before I was saved...

The Lord led me to read all the Proverbs about what alcohol does when abused , it was real food for my spirit , put me right on track , because it was like I was reading me and I did not like it...

All the glory to God for His truth that sets us free...

Some people focus on the Love of God- the only thing that can truly change us- some prefer to focus on the Judgement of God and will point out every imperfection and mistake you have ever made-similar to The Accuser

awww...big hugs in Jesus to you Rosemary. I have a European background (upbringing) and honestly the attitude to wine is just very relaxed. As children, we had some wine mixed in our ginger ale at celebrations...just to feel like an adult I guess... and I never saw anyone drunk or even tipsy...meaning adults.

I absolutely agree about abusing alcohol. But I wonder how many would like to discuss abusing food and eating waaay too much and becoming fat and thinking that's ok. I don't see much of a difference there but I have hardly ever heard anything about eating too much or being a glutton...but folks sure do like to jump on alcohol or a single glass of wine or beer

I just shake my head at the hypocrisy.

BTW, nothing personal to you regarding the food thing...I'm just voicing some thoughts. But I love your honesty and I hope to see you face to face one day and give you a big ole hug and tell you that your posts were encouraging and a great witness for how God is faithful and works in our lives

well I would actually apply being sober minded more to understanding the devil's tactics then simply alcohol.

as follows: 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: I Peter 5:8. there is no reference to alcohol but neither is there any stipulation in scripture we should never touch the stuff, regardless of how many scriptures a person might post

we are free to have a drink or not and if your conscience bothers you and your understanding is never ever do that, then it would be sin on your part to go ahead against what you believe is best for you. I have heard entire sermons based on misapplication wherein the speaker will insist everyone was drinking grape juice...despite the fact of Jesus turning water to wine. Ever been at a Jewish wedding? I will tell you they are not drinking Welch's and not 2000 + years back either

I have prayed for people to be rid of demonic influence and taught on the subject and you are really believing some things that are not true. I am not going to get 'into it' with people online here because there is too much involved. We are not in a power struggle with the devil

this is what you must grasp...the devil is defeated and you do not have to put up with being harrassed by the demonic. you might try finding some literature by Derek Prince on the subject of demonization. He explains in very concise and biblical terms what the Bible actually states. I would avoid all literature that sensationalizes the demonic or has people asking the names of demons etc. all demons lie for a living so do not interact with them

and again, we are not in a power struggle with the devil. you would be surprised how easily the demons back off when you have really got the belt of truth on and the helmet of salvation along with the rest of the armor. however, as long as someone thinks they are involved in some kind of special 'anointing' for dealing with these things and think they have to interact with them or they have some special involvement, no progress will be made

agree or not, that is the truth of the matter. NO CHRISTIAN HAS TO PUT UP WITH DEMONS BOTHERING THEM. not you, not anyone

it might be a real struggle to break free but either Jesus won the victory or the devil wins

and by the way, ALL Christians should know how to be overcomers and ALL Christians should know how to deal in spiritual battles and understand that you will be attacked or bothered and more so if you have any effectiveness for Christ in this world

EVERY Christian should know how to deal with the demonic. They don't

Amen, and I am not sure drinking was even the context of being sober, there are many things we can get drunk on which takes our focus off God which leaves us wide open to satanic influence, not just alcohol

he already said no one can change his mind

he attacks us for not being willing to discuss, when it is him who is not willing to discuss

that makes him a hypocrit of the nth degree.
