One of the key prophecies in the Bible is that of the 70 "weeks" in the book of Daniel. There are certain denominations and/or individuals who teach that the 70 weeks of Daniel (as prophesied by Gabriel) have already been fulfilled. But even a cursory reading of Daniel 9:24 will show that that is impossible. Here is what is stated in the King James Bible:

Seventy weeks are determined
[A] upon thy people (the Jews) and
upon thy holy city (Jerusalem):
[1] to finish the transgression, and
[2] to make an end of sins, and
[3] to make reconciliation for iniquity, and
[4] to bring in everlasting righteousness, and
[5] to seal up the vision and prophecy, and
[6] to anoint the most Holy.

The first question we must ask is this: "Has everlasting righteousness been established in (a) Jerusalem, (b) Israel, and (c) the whole world?" and the resounding answer is "NO!" That should settle the matter right there.

It is generally accepted that the word "weeks" represents "sevens" or "heptads" and in this context it means 70 x 7 or 490 years. Out of those 490 years 483 years were fulfilled at the crucifixion of Christ (when Messiah was cut off, but not for Himself). Therefore seven years remain to be fulfilled, since none of the items mentioned above have been actually fulfilled.

1. To finish the transgression: the word "transgression" in Scripture generally applies to a violation or breaking of the Ten Commandments. Has the violation of the Ten Commandments stopped? Not if we look around us and see how sin and evil arfe growing by leaps and bounds.

2. To make an end of sins: Has sinning come to an end? Obviously not. But one day there will be no sinning on this earth which will be established in universal righteousness.

3. To make reconciliation for iniquity: this could apply to the finished work of Christ on the cross. But it could also apply to all sinners being reconciled to God. As we know that has not happened. But one day all the nations of the earth will be saved nations, all having been reconciled to God through Christ.

4. To bring in everlasting righteousness: this can only happen after the earth and its atmosphere have been thoroughly purified with supernatural fire and everything that is corrupt has been burned up. It is only after that that God will establish "New Heavens and a New Earth" wherein dwelleth righteousness.

5. To seal up the vision and prophecy: all visions and prophecies must be fulfilled, and once they are fulfilled there is no further need for this. Once again that can only happen when the New Heavens and the New Earth are firmly in place.

6. To anoint the most Holy: this can only be a reference to the final temple in Jerusalem as described in Ezekiel. God will see this temple as "most holy". And as we know from the tabernacle and temple in Jerusalem while the Old Covenant was in place, several items were anointed according to God's instructions: (a) the priests, (b) the tabernacle, (c) the altar for burnt offerings, (d) the laver, and (e) the king. What we are not shown in Ezekiel is how this temple fits into the New Covenant, since the New Covenant is definitely applicable at this time.

However, until all these things have been fulfilled that prophecy in Daniel remains unfulfilled. As to what happens within those last seven years is a topic for another thread.

Jesus HAS established everlasting righteousness by His death and resurrection. It is available to everyone, everywhere, by faith.

I would encourage you to take another look at the events of the first century with a more open mind.

Jesus HAS established everlasting righteousness by His death and resurrection.
That is not what the passage is talking about. There must be everlasting righteousness on earth, and that is far from the case. See Romans 8.
19 For the earnest expectation of the creature [creation] waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
20 For the creature [creation] was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,
21 Because the creature [creation] itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.
23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

The redemption of our body is the transformation and perfection of the saints at the Resurrection/Rapture. But the perfection of creation must wait until the New Heavens and the New Earth are established.

Actually, that is not what the passage says. Here it is again...

"Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy."

The first section establishes the object for the seventy weeks, not the object of the events.

The rest establishes the purpose(s) for the seventy weeks. The phrasing does not require that these events are wholly effective upon the Jews and/or Jerusalem.

But Nehemiah, all of the things that were meant to be accomplished have been.

70 Sevens decreed for Jerusalem & the Jews (not for the world) to...

[1] to finish the transgression = Luke 23:34; Acts 7:52
Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do...; ...the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:

[2] to make an end of sin (offerings) = Hebrew 10:14
For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

[3] to make reconciliation for iniquity = 2 Corinthians 5:18
8 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

[4] to bring in everlasting righteousness = Hebrews 13:20
Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep,

[5] to seal up (i.e. confirm) the vision and prophecy (Daniel was studying Jeremiah) = John 1:45
Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

[6] to anoint the most Holy (place) = Hebrews 9:12
Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

...The end of which prophesied that the people of the prince who was to come would destroy the city (Jerusalem) and sanctuary (Temple). So the end of the prophecy is the 70 AD destruction of Jerusalem by Roman soldiers. The Roman empire still hadn't appeared at the time Daniel was given this prophecy.

The bringing in (harvesting) of everlasting righteousness refers to Jesus being the firstfruits of
resurrected man. Adam was everlasting unrighteousness (sin) - until Jesus came.

All of these things were fulfilled by our Lord and they are fulfilled in him. While Christ is still working in us, it's simply an extention of his own ministry, which lasted 3 (3 1/2?) years. All of those things are by his life, death and resurrection.

Why are you trying to change the plain meaning of Scripture to fit your eschatology? Everyone here is claiming that all this has been fulfilled. But since the reign of the Antichrist is in the future, that totally refutes this idea.

Following the reign of the Antichrist will be the eternal reign of Christ, when everlasting righteousness will LITERALLY be established on earth. A righteous earth free from sin and evil. That is what this prophecy is all about. A righteous Jerusalem, a righteous Israel, and a righteous earth. An end of sins. An end of transgressions. An end to iniquity. Since none of this has happened let's move away from fantasy.

Where are you getting this? Daniel is the foundation.
The rest has to fit with Daniel, not vice versa

According to you, but not to everyone. Again, please try to distinguish between Scripture and your interpretation of Scripture.

Where am, I getting this? Are you claiming that Revelation 13 has already been fulfilled? That's where I am getting it. And Daniel ties right into Revelation 13.

Here is what the book of Daniel says in 9:27.
And he [THE ANTICHRIST] shall confirm the covenant with many for one week [SEVEN YEARS]: and in the midst of the week [3 1/2 YEARS] he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Here is what Revelation 13: 5 says:
And there was given unto him [THE ANTICHRIST] a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months [3 1/2 YEARS].

Since this is in the future, we cannot possibly claim that the prophecy has been fulfilled. What has been fulfilled is the first 483 years which ended with the crucifixion of Christ.

The Antichrist will make a bogus covenant with the Jews in Israel to continue with their temple sacrifices in a future temple. But after 3 1/2 years he will shut down those sacrifices, install the Abomination of Desolation (the image of the Beast), sit in the temple claiming he is God, and trigger the Great Tribulation (called desolations in Daniel).

Kindly refrain from adding your own interpretation into the text of Scripture and claiming that it is still Scripture. The words “The Antichrist” do not appear in Daniel 9:27.

Now many want it to say midst so they can look outside for flesh and blood beliefs,

2COR 13:5Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? or midst is a fake translation unless your waiting for a return.

Dan is allegory thats not midst or secular history thats observational for flesh and blood man.

Glen,

It is never a good idea to take a passage out of context in order to prove a point. Ask yourself some critical questions to see why it is out of context.

1. When was this said?
2. To whom was it said?
3. Why was it said?
4. How does it nullify other prophecies?
5. What was the reason for Gabriel's prophecy in Daniel?
6. How does Daniel tie into Revelation (and other prophecies)?

Daniel 9:24-27 is written SEQUENTIALLY (so the "CUT OFF and have nothing [or, but not for himself]" [32ad] comes before the events surrounding 70ad ['shall destroy the city and the sanctuary'], and that comes before the "FOR ONE WEEK [7 yrs]" [yet future]... as all other prophetic scriptures on this Subject align / agree with this SEQUENCE)

Consider...

Parallel passages:

A. Matthew 24:29-31 -
"29 And immediately after the tribulation of those days:
‘The sun will be darkened,
and the moon will not give its light, [<--this is NOT "moon into BLOOD" 6th Seal]
and the stars will fall from the sky,
and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.’
30 And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes [5443 phylḗ (throughout Scripture [279x more or less] "tribe/tribes" is used only of Israel)] of the earth will mourn. And they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. 31 And He will send His angels with a great trumpet call, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from the ends [plural] of the heavens [plural] to the ends thereof [plural]." [from the extremities, WHERE SCATTERED (Israel has been "scattered")]

A. Isaiah 27:9,12-13 -
"6 In the days to come, Jacob will take root.
Israel will bud and blossom
and fill the whole world with fruit.
7 Has the LORD struck Israel as He struck her oppressors?
Was she killed like those who slayed her?
8 By warfare and exile You contended with her
and removed her with a fierce wind,
as on the day the east wind blows.
9 Therefore Jacob’s guilt will be atoned for,
and the full fruit of the removal of his sin will be this:
[See Rom11:27 and Dan9:24b, below]
When he makes all the altar stones
like crushed bits of chalk,
no Asherah poles or incense altars
will remain standing.
[...]
12 In that day the LORD will thresh from the flowing Euphrates to the Wadi of Egypt, and you, O Israelites, will be gathered one by one. 13 And in that day a great ram’s horn [/trumpet] will sound, and those who were perishing in Assyria will come forth with those who were exiles in Egypt. And they will worship the LORD on the holy mountain in Jerusalem."

A. Romans 11:27 -
"25 For I do not want you to be ignorant, brothers, of this mystery, so that you may not be wise in yourselves: A hardening in part has happened to Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles may [/be] come in [G1525]. 26 And so all Israel will be saved, as it has been written:
“The One Delivering will come out of Zion,
He will remove ungodliness from Jacob.
27 And this is the covenant from Me to them,
when I shall take away their sins.”
[See Isaiah 27, quoted above]
28 For as regards the gospel, they are enemies on account of you; but as regards election, beloved on account of the patriarchs. 29 For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.

A. Daniel 9:24 -
Berean Study Bible -
"Seventy weeks are decreed for your people and your holy city to stop their transgression, to put an end to sin, to make atonement for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy Place."
[or]
King James Bible-
"Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy."

A. Hosea 5:14-6:3 -
14 For I am like a lion to Ephraim
and like a young lion to the house of Judah.
I, even I, will tear them to pieces
and then go away
.
I will carry them off
where no one can rescue them. [see Luke 21:24a "and they shall be led away captive into all the nations"]
15 Then I will return to My place [i.e. in 32ad]
until they admit their guilt and seek My face;
in their affliction they will earnestly seek Me.”
6:1 Come, let us [Israel] return to the LORD.
For He has torn us [Israel] to pieces,
but He will heal us [Israel];
He has wounded us [Israel],
but He will bind up our [Israel's] wounds.
2 After two days He will revive us [Israel];
on/IN the third day He will raise us [Israel] up,
that we [Israel] may live in His presence. [See Isaiah 27:12-13, quoted above; See also Isaiah 24:21-23, esp v.23 (where in this passage, the FIRST of the TWO "PUNISH" words of this passage corresponds with Rev19:19,21/16:14-16/20:5--at the Armageddon time-slot, i.e. His Second Coming to the earth)]
3 So let us [Israel] know—
let us [Israel] press on to know the LORD.
As surely as the sun rises, [the "SUN of righteousness ARISE" aspect OF the "DOTL" time period (whereas the "IN THE NIGHT / DARK / DARKNESS" is the "7-yr TRIB" aspect OF it, immediately PRECEDING and LEADING UP TO this point)])
He will appear;
He will come to us [Israel] like the rain,
like the spring showers that water the earth [/like the former/early/spring rains unto the earth]."

[there's much more...]

What we are not shown in Ezekiel is how this temple fits into the New Covenant, since the New Covenant is definitely applicable at this time.

However, until all these things have been fulfilled that prophecy in Daniel remains unfulfilled. As to what happens within those last seven years is a topic for another thread.
I agree completely with you that not all of the six things to be done in the seventy sevens have yet been accomplished. Thus the seventy weeks have not yet been completed.

I think #1 was referring primarily to the 70 years captivity of Israel.
#2,3 are referring primarily to the first coming of Christ
#4 was spiritually made available by Christ's first coming, but has not yet been fully seen on physical planet Earth
#5,6 - are definitely yet in the future at the time of the second coming
