Hello guys, I'll try to make my question as short as possible kindly share your opinion with biblical support if possible. I was in a relationship with a girl for 3 years before coming into Christ. That relationship wasn't really healthy it was a long distant one we were constantly fighting over small issues there was no peace since Christ wasn't with us. The only thing that held us together was lust. She dumped when I told her I comforted one of my cousins(to whom I had feelings before) when she was feeling down by holding her hand(This is India so it's kind of a big thing here). Yet I myself told her that and she accused me of cheating on her and dumped me. I was a wretch for 6 months blamed myself of being a cheater. I apologised yet she blocked me from everything I couldn't understand anything because If i wanted to cheat on her I could have hid it from her. I didn't try to get back to her. So after six months when i was filled with fake guilt by satan and hating myself diverting myself from reality with games and porn. That's when Jesus decided to save a trash like me. I still couldn't understand why lord chose a useless person like me. I'm forever grateful for his love. From then I have his peace then i realised it's all His plan to take me away from that girl because i was idolizing that relationship my eyes were closed back then. And now i see. God himself talked to me through verses like don't go back to her several times. Even after all these whenever I see her in a recent picture or something there's a heaviness inside me. I totally understand it's God's will that i got saved from that relationship and now I have eternity but still something in me doesn't accept it. I don't want to go back to her it's hell(I don't blame her she's a very good person) but whenever something related to her hits me something stirs inside but as soon as I ask God for strength it leaves in a day or two. Can someone help me with this ?.

Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
Psalm 51:10 KJV

Pray to God that you may have peace. Don't torture yourself with the past if there is nothing you can do about it.

I mean, you say you are trash... so your girlfriend was probably trash too. Do you miss being trash United with trash?
You held your cousin's hand?! What a two-timer. You probably just could have not told her about something like that... but I'm glad you did, and then got dumped for it: because that has to be the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Forgive her/pray for her or whatever it is you have that's unresolved in your heart and move on to mo' betta things in life.
I hope you are glad too. Next time you see a picture of her you gotta praise god and be thankful you were saved from that messy relationship. You dont need strength, you already have it, I'm sure.

Jesus saved trash like me too. Keep this former relationship in the past where it belongs and keep looking forward. Hopefully, you will find comfort, peace, and understanding from the members of this site. Glad to have you onboard with us. Welcome to CC.

You lost something you valued, even if it wasn't good for you and needed to end. It's ok to mourn that loss and feel the grief of loss. Sounds like you've got your head on straight enough to know it's a bad idea to go back to it. Eventually the feelings will fade as that relationship is longer and longer ago. Best cure is to find good things in your life to enjoy so there is lots of good in your life and this loss feels like losing a smaller piece of the good stuff in your life.

Just cover those sins with the blood of Jesus. Picture of ex? ..plead the blood.

Demons cant cross the blood.

I would explain further but you can look in your Bible or just google it. You have the power of Jesus to set you free from sin. Hes forgiven you. Rejoice. You have been set free.

Amen. Yes, God draws near to the broken hearted, and when we are hurting the most and in such a broken state we are more apt to hear from Him Who loves us so much He promised His only begotten Son to pay the sin debt for humanity, that all who believe by grace through faith in His shed righteous blood shall be reconciled to Him and escape the second death. Take hold of this reprieve from the need to feel loved by an unsuitable other, for who is greater than Jesus? Sin presents itself as attractive and promises rapturous pleasure but the reality is quite different, and prowls, truly! Sin is prevalent and very present, continually on the prowl like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour.

Being thankful, praising god- that is the shortcut. I dont know what gets stirred up in you- or what you dont accept. But if you're looking at a picture of someone from your past and it evokes heaviness, it's probably related to something in the past.

The only way that heaviness might be helpful is by reminding you what happens when you get into a relationship based on lust, so you dont do it again- but it probably doesn't need to stay with you for days at a time.

True words there. I'll never leave my Lord there's no such thought. I'm just facing this struggle in my way. I wont go back to sin but I need right guidance to fight it that's all. Thank you for your words.

Need a clarification on what you said. Does that heaviness comes from God so that i won't go back there or is it from evil spirit ?

Yes, we all have trouble and are challenged and struggle with a variety of issues; feeling/being loved is a big one experienced probably by the majority of people. I did not mean to suggest you would ever relinquish your faith, nor did I mean to impart that all love relationships are sinful. But even here in our highest and most worthy aspirations to love and be loved, we often fail. Perhaps we should only seek to love and have no expectation of return. Oh! That is not a novel thought but one that is very difficult to carry out.

You mentioned being in India, and that surely adds layers of complication I am personally
not familiar with. I watched a bit of an Indian match-making show that was quite informative,
among other things in that "marriage" meant arranged by families differentiated from "love marriage."

Yes things are a bit different here. But luckily I have Jesus who understands me completely. If not for him I just cant imagine where my life would have been. So I beleive he will fix everything in his time. May be you won't understand my exact situation but in Christ we support each other. That's what matters. All praise be to Father in heaven.

Amen! And is it not wonderful to be shown and grasp how we are loved in Him, and comprehend beyond any shadow of a doubt that He knows us more intimately than any other human being could? There is much comfort in this. May it ever feed us in the darkening world.

Welcome! :)
