As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father doth his children, That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.

For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews: Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us;

and they please not God, and are contrary to all men: Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.”

‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭2:11-16‬ ‭

Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭10:11-13‬

“Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them. But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. And the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:5-17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I have no commentary but it doesn’t really need it I feel if we hear it and take in what we are able it will let us change where we need to when we realize even the ot examples are meant to admonish us in Christ and keep us safe

It would be nice to let Christians know how they can change instead of clubbing them over the head with Bible verses.

Why not post a verse or two, and talk about them, vs, just ......."Here is some random cut and paste from Paul's epistles, hope it helps".

you make a good point , you should read the scriptures on this post and believe that’s how you change by treasuring up the truth in your heart

when scripture is presented and you feel
Like you are being clubbed over the head ……it’s because you are rejecting that it’s true Gods word shouldnt feel like a clubbing it should be a blessing

when we let it in it does this
“For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

why not listen to what Paul was teaching ? And not pluck grace after grace verse and claim there’s nothing else to it ?

Christians who do all to avoid Gods word are confused and in a snare when we always have to say things like Bible thumping and being clubbed over the head with a chapter of Paul’s writings it shows we haven’t actually understood any of it and should start letting wha the in scripture create what we think

random cut and paste ?

here’s a near complete chapter to the church same letter he speaks of grace

“Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them. For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5:1-21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

why. Ot read what he’s actually saying and teaching like it’s intended it was never broken into single verses in those days that’s something we did later for study purposes Paul was just writing letters communicating the same message of repentance and remission of sins expounding the gospel

the reason I don’t do a verse and then explain that verse is because it’s the information that’s created by the chapters that offers any understanding read it like Paul eas sending letters to the church to exhort and teach them the gospel just letting the truth in is salvstion and will change what needs to change but we can’t keep rejecting what we see is there

I would like to know how you picture posters using bible verses to teach without some people claiming that is clubbing them over the head with them? We can either post the verses or not post them, you add the clubbing part.

all that was being said on my part is that the bible has been used as a tool of violents. Such as Francisco Pizarro and 167 conquistadors

because of wicked men who don’t take it as it is . That’s more of a condemnation of the world that rejects the Bible the word is true and always the same because it is written . Men abuse any and everything we come in contact with that doesn’t make the Bible an idol , it marked those who abuse it guilty and deserving of thier condemnation

the word is good and right and always the same won’t change but all
Men will choose one way or the other based on what’s written in it

As scripture tells us will happen, demons have become more and more powerful as time creeps closer to the end of our world as it is. Demons have entered the church. One example is the movie Starwars that presents an idol called "The Force" as God. This idol makes God into an energy force instead of a holy god. They present this idol as working for good verse evil although our true God tells us not to make righteousness a god, but to be saved by faith. Scripture tells us in Eph. 6:12
  • For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
The one true God is a God who offers salvation through forgiveness, not an impersonal energy force.

Scripture tells us we may know Christians by seeing their love for each other. Today Christians are known for clubbing each other if they are given scripture, certainly not for loving each other. Today it is easier to find companionship and love in the barroom than it is in our churches.

it’s because the Bible is calling men to repentance so it feels like a club if we’re quoting thkngs others don’t want to acknowledge

Christ loves us, Christ accepts us and forgives us. Scripture is from Christ, not from posters. Scripture guides and helps us, it never clubs us. When Christ tells us to repent, Christ is always there to pick us up and give us peace and joy after we repent. No one ever needs to feel clubbed.

I agree but what would you think of you were set against repentance and the word was exclaiming you must repent ?

but you yourself thought “ I’m already good enough I don’t need to repent ?”

do you see how God calling someone to repentance that is enjoying and justifying thier sin might feel clubbed simply because they don’t want to hear about repentance ? I think I understand it because I used to feel clubbed myself when someone was talking about repentance

it shouldn’t feel like that but it does if you have been in a false doctrine that has taught you repentance isn’t for you

and like I said I’ve been there and felt it is why I think I have a clue why it feels that way before our will and move for sin breaks repentance feels
Like an insult but it’s non the less there and essential

yes brother your speaking from a place of accepting repentance I also am , what I’m saying is beforehand it sounds contrary to a sinner to call them out of sin it’s like saying ( in their ears not from your mouth but it’s like hearing ) “you aren’t good enough you have to change “

what I mean is to find someone who preaches about nothing but grace and show them this scripture and see if it earns them a bit or if they constantly contend

“I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭13:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

that’s an offense to someone who is in thier sins and not yet turned to the reality of repentance remember Jesus purpose

“I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭5:32‬ ‭KJV‬‬

he didn’t call sinners to salvstion but to repentance and salvstion of we start out being told repentance isn’t necassary as many many do and become convinced , the truth then becomes offensive to that person who hasn’t allowed repentance to be part of thier faith

I’m only saying I’ve been in that position so I know how it sounded to me before I came into mowing the truth to bring repentance it was like an attack on me because I was deceived hearing the truth became a beating with a stick to me

I used to get offended that someone told me the truth about repentance and acknowledging my sins , but then I heard Jesus and the beauty and gift of repentance
