When Jesus fed the four and five thousand were they jews or gentiles?? Actually this can easily be determined by looking at Greek manuscripts. Every place in the four gospels where the baskets are mentioned for the five thousand the word for baskets are a "kophino" and the basket for feeding the four thousand "spuris".

The five thouand were all jews because when Jesus crossed the lake He was asked questions only a jew was ask. Those who ate at the feeding of the four thousand was when jesus came from Tyre and Sidon to an area near Decapolis, a gentile greek ancestory area. Also when Paul was let down in a basket in Damascus, that basket was also a "spuris. A gentile basket in a gentile city.

Anytime we leave the original manuscripts we lose understanding. Although all the originals are lost, and the ones we have today are copies of copies, we still have an amazing understanding.

They were all Jews. And when you add the women and children it would be more like 12,000 to 15,000 who were fed on the two occasions. Each time Jesus had compassion on the multitudes and therefore He fed them miraculously , but He was also testing the faith of the apostles. And each time they failed.

Does it really matter?? The example and teaching here of the multitudes are for all.

Anytime we leave the original manuscripts.

The only "original manuscripts" were the Apostles Letters and similar, and those have not existed in 1900 yrs, obo.
What we have now are "copies of copies of copies".
No "originals" remain .

Also, the NT records the men that were fed, but their wives were there and their children.
So, Jesus probably fed over 13,000 people.

Do you not yet perceive or understand? Are your hearts hardened? 18 Having eyes do you not see, and having ears do you not hear? And do you not remember? 19 When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces did you take up?” They said to him, “Twelve.” 20 “And the seven for the four thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces did you take up?” And they said to him, “Seven.” 21 And he said to them, “Do you not yet understand?”

It’s a story that reveals the hearts of the Jews. In short: Jesus was the bread of life come down from heaven (signified by the 7 baskets). Even though the Jews filled their stomachs, they did not eat a morsel of Him. This is signified by the 12 baskets of bread.

I have nothing against feeding the poor, but many “ministries” are formed out of domestic and incomplete understandings of scripture.

19 When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, ”

That verse is interesting, isn't it, as we know that Christ is not going to leave the women and children home, and only feed the men.
So, that's at least 13,000 being fed, which is probably a low estimate.

I have nothing against feeding the poor, but many “ministries”

Thats good, as Jesus told us that when we take care of the least (those who have much less then they need) we are serving Him.

Here are a few verses....

36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto ME.

Some people want to Tithe and give money into God's service, but they dont have a church, or they feel unsure that the money they give is being used properly.
So, give to the poor., as you can believe that someone who is living on the street, needs God's mercy.
Don't judge them.....just be thankful for what you have and for the fact that you are not the one sleeping on the sidewalk.
Let your giving be God's helping hand reaching out to them.

Do you not know jesus could have made it come out to the crumb?

Jesus is God.

John 1:10 says that Jesus made the world.
Colossians 1:16 says that Jesus made it all, and holds it all together and keeps it all going, based on His Power.
Matthew 28:18 says that Jesus has "all power in Heaven and on/in earth"

So, surely Jesus could feed not just the men with those loaves and fishes.

“Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.”

“I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, white garments so that you may be clothed and your shameful nakedness not exposed, and salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see.”

“I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”

The naked need clothed with redemption.
The sick need need baptized with the Holy Spirit so they may see in the spirit.
The imprisoned need freed from the gates of hell.

I have decided to share the rest of the story of the feeding of the four and five thousand.
This story is about the miracle and the multiplication of food and God's plan. Do you not understand?

Feeding of the 5000
Lord took five loaves and two fish
5 times 2 = 10
Scriptures say he divided it among the five thousand
5000 divided by 10 = 500
Blessings left over are always multiplied
500 times 12 baskets left over is 6000.

Time was directed at Israel to keep, being the kophino (baskets)

Feeding of the 4000
7 loaves times a (few) ( 2) fish
7 times 2 = 14
4000 divided by 14 = 285.7143
Blessings multiplied.
285.7143 times 7 spuris baskets left over = 2000
Time of the gentiles

How many of you understand?

well yea maybe but still life is full or surprises and that without being told by god is a educated guess at best

Interesting

One of my favorite things He said is "gather the leftover pieces; let nothing be wasted"

thanks brother

He could have just made their bellies full without eating.
He could have turned the grass and rocks into bread and fish.
He could have just given them manna.

But He wanted to take the provision a child had, and feed them all with it, past what they could even eat.
