We clearly know that water cannot save anyone. Water baptism was a representation of what the Lord would do.. baptize us with the Holy Spirit.

It's interesting, however, to witness people trying to justify this position. To even imagine and unrepentant sinner could be forgiven if you dunk him/her in water is beyond the pale. Let's just water baptize the whole world and everyone will be forgiven. Problem solved. Not.
.
1.5 billion catholics all taught that water saves them.
its what their bible teaches...."born AGAIN of/by water"....... Douay Rheims cult bible.
And the Jehovah's Witness doctrine is the exact same.

sedition... ringleader" LOL
This type of wording is geared toward provoking the flesh, not conveying truth.
You actually believe............. that trying to prove that water saves you, is "conveying the truth".

The Apostle Paul also said:
Paul told the body of Christ, in the time of the Gentiles, that "Jesus sent me not to water baptize".
Why would He want you to know that, KelbyofGod??

And remember, i didn't ask you if Paul ever baptized anyone.
I asked you why Paul told the Body of Christ, in the time of the Gentiles, that "Jesus sent me NOT to water baptize".
Why would Paul want you to know that??

If 1.5 billion people plus others put their faith in water for salvation, they will be in for a huge shock!!

Both the accounts of Noah and Moses show that water KILLS, not saves.

Thousands of water baptized commandment keepers, who are trying to "be like Jesus"..........never did this....= "Jesus said, you must be born again".
So, they died, went to hell, and this a horrible situation, as they were led there by their WATER CULT.
They died believing they were going to Heaven.

The Devil is still laughing.......

Growing up in a Catholic family in the Catholic cult it was common practice to mock "born again Christians".

Yes.

And being born again is the only reason God let's us into Himself, '""ONE with GOD""... ..into the Kingdom of God.

We are born again INTO GOD' Spirit, by God's Holy Spirit.

Not a lot of Catholics have this salvation.
Ive had them argue......."water saved Noah", for 20 pages on a Thread, just me and them, on a Fourm, this year.
20 pages...
The "cult of Mary", is a seriously strong indoctrination, and when they own your mind, its very difficult to escape it.
You are fortunate , and i thank God for your escape.

John preached bring forth fruits of repentance with the ritualistic form of OT cleansing. Remember his father served in the Temple, that is what he knew. He was called as the fore runner to herald that NOW is the time of the Messiah's coming.

When the word is heard, the Spirit pricks hearts to the opportunity that NOW has the Messiah knocked upon the door of your heart.

Jesus is the ONLY way to be saved,ONLY way! Then he must be obeyed. If he thought the ritual of baptism was ok to follow fulfilling the OT cleansing then WHO AM I to rebuke it?

Again I stress ONLY JESUS SHED BLOOD CAN FORGIVE SIN, bc he is God in the flesh. By his death, burial and resurrection we have forgiveness. Baptism is ONLY a symbol of following him coming from the water stating I'm washed, cleansed and made free of sin.

Salvation comes from us seeing what God sees about us then repenting. Then the blood is applied to the doorpost of our hearts and we are redeemed.

I will say if people think WATER saves they need to go back to the cross!
Amen, you can’t have the cross plus water, you have the cross or you have nothing

When the Bible says the devil "deceives the whole world" and "leads the whole world astray", it isn't kidding!!

The point is to direct people's attention to what the word says about a proper foundation. Without it people are unknowingly building upon sand. Many will say, Lord, Lord... indicating they believe in Jesus, and his response will be I never knew you. (Matt. 7:23) Immediately afterward, Jesus points out the difference between wise and foolish builders. I believe Jesus statement that he never knew those who believed in him was because they were foolish builders. They neglected to obey the commands associated with the NT spiritual rebirth. (Acts 2:38)

Lastly, are you sure you weren't baptized 2 times in the Catholic religion? If you were baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost both times you were in fact following the manmade tradition begun by the forerunners of the Roman Catholic Church. The apostles obeyed Jesus' command from Matthew 28:19 they did not repeat it. They consistently water baptized those who repented in the name of the Lord Jesus. (Acts 2:38-41, 8:12-18, 10:44-48, 19:1-6, 22:16)

Also, consider that the belief that water baptism is an empty ritual is not what the bible says. Every human being has to make their own decision whether to accept or reject what the bible actually says about it. To be sure one's sins have actually been remitted has eternal consequences. People will not gain access to heaven without their personal sins having been remitted through obedience to God's command.
Well said.!

There is a false teaching that anyone who calls Jesus "Lord" automatically has the Holy Ghost and is ultimately and permanently "Saved" because of a misunderstanding of 1 Corinthians 12:3. Thank God that Jesus boldly and directly stated that there will be those who call him Lord and then are REJECTED by Jesus. (Matt 7:21-23). Thank God Jesus himself said it. If anyone said the same words regarding those that call Jesus Lord (but fail to submit to His word) it would have been JUST as much TRUE, but would be rejected by those who look at the person (man/flesh) rather than the word.

I don't expect this post to be popularly accepted. But truth is not defined by popularity. (straight, narrow, few)

Kelby, most, if not all, born-again believers have been baptized. We know the water doesn't actually save us but we are baptized because we are called to do so. Sooooooooooooo, what do you make of that?

Paul told the body of Christ, in the time of the Gentiles, that "Jesus sent me not to water baptize".
Why would He want you to know that, KelbyofGod??

Thanks for being willing to ask the question again/

In part I believe he told us that to highlight that different people have different callings... also that it doesn't matter which man of God baptized them because it is submitting to the WORD, not the man that matters. It seems they had division over WHO baptized them, as if that made some more 'Christian' than others.

Well, I like it in that it's NOT the water that I put my faith in, it's the word that we 're submitting to. Getting dunked ... in water... by a man of God... as a function of repentance ... in the name of Jesus... for remission of sins... is simply the word that is written. (Acts 2:38 ...again and still.)

That poor thief on the cross next to Jesus. What a bummer. Jesus must have been really confused when He said..
Luke 23: 42And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. 43And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. "

Someone should have told Jesus that dude didn't get dunked.

Yes, seriously. The fact that the bible was physically written BY man does NOT take a single bit of authority from it. But IF EternallyGrateful's argument that "If the physical act is done by Man, then it Doesn't carry the power of God" (paraphrased) were true (It's not), THEN it would have to apply to the bible as well because the physical writing was performed by a MAN just as truly as baptism in water is performed by man.

As was shown earlier, and is surprising to find out...

That same thief on the cross (who indeed made it into heaven) also didn't believe the Gospel that includes that God raised Jesus from the dead (because that hadn't happened yet) and also didn't receive the Holy Ghost (because it hadn't been poured out yet, because Jesus hadn't gone to the Father yet.) The Thief on the cross was still under the OLD covenant, not the new.

Kind of amazing to think about.
