Peter's statement pertained specifically to why he water baptized Cornelius and the others. Notice he said, who was I to withstand God after seeing God fill them with His Spirit. What did he do after seeing them filled in order not to withstand God? He commanded they be water baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. (Acts 10:44-48)
The Jewish leaders said, "Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life." Their comment spoke of their sins having been remitted as well as their receiving the Holy Ghost.
Do you admit that Cornelius was water baptized AFTER receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit?

No part of this argument makes sense or is in the least bit useful.
much noise in battle = spiritual battles.[Sorry 4 the noise] might i remind you that scipture says that all thing work together for those he loves.I sorry for the disruption but it bring back memories to me about textural critlcism and a person can find something to support any argument.I hope we r more concerned about a persons soul then winning a argument

I hope we are, too.

true

but wansvic believes that even if you are speaking in tongues or whatever, you are still not saved until you are water baptised

he/she (don't know) said as much some pages back

so I mean not much you can say there. just imagine...saved, filled with the Holy Spirit (as per your example above) and yet NOT saved according to wansvic

point blank denies what is plainly stated
Actually it's according to the word. (Acts 2:38-47) Notice what is stated in verses 42 and 47. The people continued in the apostle's doctrine as recorded in verse 38, and the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved. (verse 47)

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.

41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.

44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common;

45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.

46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,

47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

A bit sarcastic and pithy I know but.

I am not a believer but have been invited to a church, or maybe not invited but walk past a church one day.

I'm a mess and need help and maybe just maybe Jesus is the answer.
So I'm in the church.

I come to the point where the Holy Spirit convicts me of sin.
What is this sin he convicts me off (posted it a while back)
The sin is unbelief in Jesus.
What is this unbelief?

Firstly.
It's not unbelief at the time Jesus said this but it's unbelief that he actually said when has died, been buried and rose again.

Now as a result our sins have been forgiven, as a result I can be reconciled to God per Romans 5, through faith. Also In Roamns Paul makes it very clear that we must believe that he died, was buried and rose again Romans 10.
If you don't believe that then you are not saved period.

The you think.

Yeah I'm forgiven, accepted as I am. There is nothing I can offer but only accept it.

Now let's take the scenario that baptism saves and you are in this church.

So you go forward or tell someone you believe per Romans.
They say that's great, but you must be baptized to actually be saved.
My guess is that has said Church preached Romans 5 and Romans 10 then have they preached Acts 2:38?

Maybe.

If that's the case are you Baptise straight away.
That would have to be done in order to saved according to their docrine.

But what if they say no?
Baptism service in the next couple of weeks.

You die before that.
Then you are not saved and going to hell and per what Paul did is irrelevant and true and BS.

I've never ever suggested that we don't address Jesus when in prayer. But you seem to be placing all your marbles in the bag of "name only", as if invoking His name is the power.

In fact, His name is COMMON in Mexico. Means nothing.

Believers invoke His name because of His REPUTATION as the King of kings and Lord of lords.

Stop arguing. Accept the truth.
Tell Jesus that using his name means nothing.

I accept what the word conveys. I have been sharing scripture indicating that people who believe in Jesus receive remission of sins through his name. Scripture states that those who are baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus do it to receive remission of their sin. (Acts 2:38-41, 8:12-18, 10:44-48, 19:1-6, 22:16)

"To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins." Acts 10:43

"Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord." Acts 10:47-48

Considering His name isn't actually Jesus, but Yahusha or Yeshua, you aren't even asking in His actual name.
Hummm. Do you think he isn't familiar with all forms of his name?

It's irrelevant.

They don't read or reject the majority of Acts 10.
The vision that Peter had.

But we see

Acts 10:44-48

The Holy Spirit Falls on the Gentiles
44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. 45 And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. 46 For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God.
Then Peter answered, 47 “Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?” 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then they asked him to stay a few days.

Notice baptised in the name of the Lord, not Jesus, as stated by various on here.

It's quite interesting, I just looked at the above.
Peter is saying they spoke in tongues and magnify God.

Now I was told once because I did not speak in tongues then I was not saved.
Thank goodness I have been baptized:cool: and before I died.

Side note.
If I wasnt fully immersed but was baptised in the Anglican church I went to where I had to make a confession of faith per Romans then was I actually saved?
A sprinkling on the forehead.

If not fully immersed then what?

Brother, this is all you need.
Acts 16:31
“And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”

I thought you were done. And, why don't you address my comment? We as born-again believes are in fact baptized, so what are you arguing about?
I've been on this computer all morning. So sorry its taken so long to get to you.

First of all I am not arguing. I am presenting scripture relevant to the topic. Others disagree and get angry. Why? Now that's the real question that needs to be answered.

Those who believe the gospel message and obey the associated commands are born again according to the word. Sadly, many feel they have been reborn and have received the Holy Ghost automatically when they first believe in Jesus, or after saying the sinner's prayer. The belief that water baptism is done as a public display is not biblical. Nor is being water baptized in the name of the Father, and the Son, These deceptions have the ability to give people a false sense of security.

My prayer is that people will see that obeying God is what all must do. A person who obeys the God-given commands to repent of their sin, submits to water baptism IN THE NAME OF JESUS, and receives the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues has followed the plan that God put into place for those in pursuit of salvation.

I don't see people getting angry. And, we in fact do obey God. We have all been baptized.

Have you read this passage?
Matthew 28
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

Do you deliberately not take in the whole counsel of God and only focus on three passages of Scripture that fit your narrative? I assure you, those who are born-again are in fact baptized. As I said before, the difference between you and us is that we know water does not save us.

Tell Jesus that using his name means nothing.
You're not even listening, are you?

I accept what the word conveys.
Actually, you have no idea what it conveys. All you've been doing is SAYING His name, if that somehow has power.

The Greek word for "name" refers to REPUTATION.

Maybe the hang-up here is that you don't understand what REPUTATION means. Have you looked it up?

So Jesus did not say to be baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit?
Jesus gave that command to his apostles to baptize in the name of... The apostles obeyed His command by baptizing everyone in that name. And that name is the Lord Jesus Christ. A list of every detailed water baptism speaks to this truth: (Acts 2:38-41, 8:12-18, 10:44-48, 19:1-6, 22:16)

Maybe Wansvic has never read the book of Matthew. I think he has me on ignore, so you can share that passage with him.
Nope not on ignore yet.
