Believe it or not, I was listening to Jimi Hendrix when I got saved. The lyrics clearly indicate the man was searching for Jesus. At least that was my interpretation when I got saved. So I would definitely say YES! God can use ANYTHING for His glory!
which hendrix song really hit the most?

I have often heard songs from secular artists that had for me a Christian message.. Some of them seemed to me to have been written for me at that time in my life. They had so much meaning to me..

I was listening to one the other day that seemed different from what I normally hear from Nickleback. I took it as a grain of salt of course knowing what and who they normally market to but Thought the lyrics and video grasped some good things vs what you have heard from them lyrically in the past. I think even a broken clock is accurate once in a while by Gods grace. Only question is was it truly from heart of a couple of band members or simply more marketing?

I have noticed among secular music artists- lyrics which are like warnings from God about Judgment. I think God is using everything to reach people before the end comes. This generation finds rap music very popular and so many of the masses follow this music which is very materialistic. ironically, the word "rap" means the "end" of course. I truly think that God is using very popular artists to warn and reach of his coming on a spiritual level through what is popular to this generation. Here are the lyrics to a song by rapper Machine Gun Kelly that seems to not be him or match his story...it is a song entitled: "Long Time Coming"...It's been a long time coming, I'm coming now. I've seen it all through the distance, I seen it all. ....the song has an extended version called "long time coming, look at me now that says again: " it's been a long time coming, I seen it all through the distance, I seen it all, I wear the crown.". What are your thoughts that this could be God warning the secular world through this popular rap artist, who is also with a popular actress, Megan fox?
it is possible but I doubt it, why would a secular artist in any. Industry stray from their beliefs to preach the word of God? You can't deny God and preach His gospel. What you are looking at in the realm of reality are artists who sing to entertain religious people, or even what the bible says is a generation which has a form of. Godliness and denies the power there of. The end time prophecies warn of a falling away not a time of growth and repentance.

The word of God says that if it comes to it, rocks will preach the gospel.

Two things:

1. Understanding even debased, modern art is important as it is a pretty good indicator of where culture is going. Just engage it clinically and with discernment. I listen to songs I despise just to know what the elites are trying to force on our kids and what to make of the total idiocy I see during the Superbowl.

2. Artists are like thinkers, authors, and so forth. God does not forbid us from engaging them. They can at times present the truth in novel shades. My avatar is (right now) my fellow mandolinist, Peter Buck of REM. I find philosophical and spiritual richness in their music and can appreciate the questions they ask.

Like every other bit of world engagement, our base is the Bible. No matter how much I appreciate the wise words of a Roman Emperor, I rest under the same roof as David and Solomon. When you feel you are drifting from that standard, hit the breaks, pray, and come home.
