Sheri: God will bring you a strong mentor, in His way and in His time. My mentor, Debbie, is the wife of a pastor. When we met, she was just a talented artist in my eyes. It wasn't for a year or so that we really bonded, and now, I can't imagine life without her or her husband.

Sometimes, God's ways are so amazing I can't even believe things like this happen. :) I'm so, so glad that you're reaching out instead of dealing with this alone!

I was listening to a pastor talking about the armor of God the other day. He was talking about the shield, specifically. Since Paul was in prison during this letter, chained to a Roman soldier, he'd have been looking right at a Roman soldier's shield. See, their shields were made of layers and layers of leather, and they had to be oiled daily to keep them pliable and strong, instead of weak and brittle. The shields were about the size of a door, and in battle, the soldiers would make a sort of wall out of their shields by holding them side-to-side. This would keep everyone safe.

The pastor was talking about how applicable this is for a Christian's walk: Oiling and cleaning the shield daily (prayer and time in the Word), and coming together with other soldiers (other believers in the one true God) when we're under attack.

The world does not always consider the words from our mouths but they look at whether we are living the life that we are professing. Let your life/lifestyle be the testimony and answer. Be the loving wife that God has called you to be. When he sees the changes in you he will have the answers to his questiobns. examples of changes... your atittude....conduct and motives. Look at him through the eyes of Christ. Fast and pray.

You are planting seeds when you witness to him don't get frustrated if you don't see the fruit right away, just believe God that one day you will and Praise Him for it. Be encouraged.

I also believe that the best thing you can do to witness to your husband is to increase your own faith and strengthen your own relationship with God. Be judicious with your verbal attempts and let your deeds speak for you. The more your husband sees what you have in Christ, the more he will want it.

God be with you in your quest.

The only way the divorce thing would work would be if the None Believer wanted the divorce...just read the verses

I Corinthians 7:12 To the rest I say this (I, not the Lord): If any brother has a wife who is not a believer and she is willing to live with him, he must not divorce her. 13 And if a woman has a husband who is not a believer and he is willing to live with her, she must not divorce him. 14 For the unbelieving husband has been sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife has been sanctified through her believing husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but as it is, they are holy. 15 But if the unbeliever leaves, let it be so. The brother or the sister is not bound in such circumstances; God has called us to live in peace. 16 How do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband? Or, how do you know, husband, whether you will save your wife?

Troll? Hahahahahaha!! I was backing up what you said. There is no allowance for a believer to divorce their spouse because of unbelief. And the verse you supplied are correct :)

Hello, God is reaching out to you to provide your son with what is truth and what is not. Pray that your husband sees God as truth, pray for him. I think God may want you two together, nothing is an accident with God. God may want you to be an example for your husband to show him the way to Him, for God is all anyone needs. Pray to God about your husband and God will do the rest, if you (in time) see that your husband will not change his way of thinking and it is affecting your son or yourself, maybe then you may consider leaving, but never give up on your husband and never stop praying for his salvation. JUST BELIEVE! God puts us through things to bring us closer to him, so allow your husband the time he needs and let God be God.

I understand what you are going through. I also was raised in church as a child, so was my husband. Although neither one of us were in church when we met.I have recently opened my heart to our Lord. My husband will smile when i mention my studies of the bible and he supports me, but he himself makes excuses everytime i ask him to go to church with me. I'm thinking maybe starting smaller,maybe ask him to pray with me. I have been at a loss myself on how to connect with him.When I pray about it lately, God's answer seems to be "Be still". I will pray for your situation. May God bless you.

Welcome to Christian Chat!

Just wanted to comment about praying out loud together. That can be awkward for a new believer or someone who hasn't committed fully to Christ.

In some ways, it's easier to go the Church and sit in the back, than it is to individually pray aloud or talk openly about the Bible. Especially if someone doesn't know much about the Bible. Kind of puts their ignorance out in the open. It might especially be challenging for a husband when his wife has more Bible knowledge.

Do you know, or your husband know, of a mature Christian man that might invite him to church?

My husband grew going to Church, the family went through a nasty church split, and debated Calvinism to death, so he's not real keen on going to Church or talking about controversial bible issues. But what he HAS enjoyed is finding a group of men at Church that he can relate to. I think men feel safer in numbers at Church :)
