Most of you guys here have been friendly, kind and loving since I started coming here. I've felt free to contribute to conversations, talk about my point of view, and be open and honest.

Those of you who make rude, mean-spirited, hurtful, poorly-thought-out, insensitive comments need to think before you post another word. I have been around the block enough times to know that 1) you don't represent Christians as a whole, and 2) you don't represent Jesus Christ. But ten years ago, I wouldn't have known that. And people who come here with a basic understanding of Christianity, God and His nature (or no understanding) can be misled by your hateful language.

I won't post any more in this thread right now; I'm pretty upset by some things. But we are Christ's witnesses here on earth, and we can't act this way. We need to show people God's love, and I can guarantee that God isn't in heaven cracking jokes at my expense or using derogatory terms to describe me.

tif - I want you to know that we value you. It tells us in the Word that "iron sharpens iron". Keep your eyes on the Father. . . I can tell you are. I grew up in the church and it is the ones you love that can hurt you the most but also it is where you can learn the most. I appreciate your frankness, your willingness to bare your soul and your openness to share what God has led you to share. You are brave and care. Please don't let Satan "muzzle" what God is using you to do. - You're in my prayers.

Tif: I myself would like you to know, i appreciate all of your posts, and i have enjoyed reading them.

I apologize for the people who have been rude to you, but you really should just take it with a grain of salt. A lot of people on the internet are not who they say they are. So one person that could be putting you down about something could really be struggling with the exact same thing, but trying to hide it, or make themself feel good.

A lot of people hide behind their computer screen. I know I do. I come all out as this girl who is outgoing and loud and funny, but in real life I am very quiet.

I'm really sorry people are being rude to you. I wish I knew who they were and what they were being mean to you about. You and I have similar taste in opinions, I'd back you up in a heart beat.

Just remember, Do not argue with an idiot. He (or she) will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience!!!

Thanks you guys.

Just an FYI, I'm sensitive about my weight. I have always had big hips and big boobs, and I got made fun of a lot, even when I was very thin for my body type. I can still remember that guy I liked in high school who called me a fat, ugly, stupid cow. And I hate the looks. I hate the way thin girls glare at me when I'm jogging and certain guys will hide a laugh behind their hands. And I hate not being able to sit down to a meal without that knowing nod by the thin ones, the people who "know" I ate myself into this hole, but don't know that I portion my plates and exercise and don't eat (or eat sparingly as a treat) anything with HFCS/"white" foods/processed foods/sweets.

To put this in perspective, my A1C went from 7.2 to 6.0 (optimum: 4.8 - 5.9), my total cholesterol went from 210 to 135 (optimum: under 200), my triglycerides went from 178 to 139 (optimum: under 150), my HDL (good cholesterol) went up by 10 points into an acceptable range, and my LDL (bad cholesterol) went from 138 to 66(optimum: under 100). I also have lost 40 lbs, my blood pressure is down, and I no longer have any vitamin deficiencies.

There are two words I really hate: Crazy and fat. They've both been levied against me more times than I can count. If I'm crazy, I'm crazy for God and the love He has shown me. And if I'm fat, I'm fat off His word that nourishes my soul.

Stigma is an evil, ugly thing. People tend to understand that using a racal slur is wrong, but I don't understand what's so hard about understanding the damage that words like "stupid" "ugly" "fat" "crazy" etc. can cause as well.

I started a thread about edifying one another because I was so sick of seeing some of these posts from people who call themselves Christians... they give us a bad name. We need to lift one another up, try to assist one another in growing spiritually. It saddens me to hear these kinds of things are being said. God bless you sister for your boldness!

Not very many people know this, but when I was in middle school/high school I used to be very overweight (due to stress problems) and I went to a CHURCH youth group. The girls slaughtered my self confidence. They would absolutely torture me. When they found out I had a crush on the music pastor's son, they made my life even worse. I would cry myself to sleep every night.

Years later I saw one of them, at my best friend's house. She had no idea the girl treated me like that. She was totally bewildered that I treated the girl nicely and the girl was whispering to her that I was ugly and I was a closet lesbian. I had lost over 80 pounds, and she still acted the same way. My boyfriend at the time held me back because I almost punched her out when my best friend said "You know she is saying this to everyone in the other room right?"

As water reflects the face, so the heart to the person. I don't care if they call themselves Christians. They can call themselves God for all I care. They are nothing but pieces of dirt that God will take have his revenge on. Only true people who follow Christ accept people for who they are. No matter the color, weight, figure or height.

It really makes me angry that looks are so important. When in reality they shouldn't matter.

Tif, I think you are beautiful. Inside and out. Whomever on this chat called you fat is looking for a knuckle sandwich with extra side drink of Hawaiian punch!

I'm so glad you did that, McCharming. Was thinking of doing the same thing earlier today. I don't know what has gotten into folks lately...
We all seriously need to hit our knees and have a little talk with Jesus about the discord among our christian sibs. We've been called to a higher walk than that.

tif, I'm sorry you've been hurt. I love reading your posts and hope you will continue to participate. :)

TIf I smell what you are stepping in....my mother told me a story when I was about 14 or so ....

I man was taking a long journey and he was ridding his donkey, the donkey's name was Hiney. When the man started on the journey he climb up on Hiney and started off at a gallop. At the first village the people out on the road said we cant believe you are galloping that donkey...so the man slowed the donkey to a walk. As he passed through the next village the people stared in amazement and said we can not BELIEVE you are riding that donkey, you need to walk beside him, so the man feeling somewhat guilty and ashamed got down and walked along side Hiney. At the next village the people gasped in amazement and yelled out how cruel the man was for making Hiney walk, so he picked up Hney and carried him. Outside of town there was a deep ravine with jagged rocks below and as the man was carrying his donkey across the rope bridge got to swaying back and forth back and forth and he dropped his donkey.................the moral of the story..............if we worry about what everybody else thinks we are going to lose our Hiney!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As a bigger person myself I just blow them off and keep on keepin on...............

By the way your a beautiful woman..........so keep doing whatever it is your doing!

Thanks for your input everyone.

Hommer: Great story. :) I've heard variations of that one.

I think the thing that gets me is remembering how the Christians in my life treated me when I was at my lowest. I don't want anyone to come to a place I frequent and think we tolerate hatred, discrimination, meanness or cruelty. In the past, I've had a sort of God-complex sometimes, thinking I have to make everything right. Now, not as much, but I still can't stand the thought of saying nothing.

" But their insults cannot hurt me because the Sovereign Lord gives me help. I brace myself to endure them. I know that I will not be disgraced"
- Isaiah 50:7

I have a lot more I'd like to say on this subject but I have to do it later. In the meantime, Tif, don't let them get to you. You're a sweet, intelligent, nice-looking young lady. They're just being critical and insensitive. Its how a lot of people are these days unfortunately. It seems to me that in the last 10 years, with the rise in popularity of chat rooms and texting, and the decline of face-to-face interaction, people have become bolder and bolder with their opinions and attitudes and things like tact, politeness and sensitivity to other's feelings have been left behind.

Thank you, Zero. I know God is my Rock, and I know I don't have anything to fear. But we're ordered to "be angry and do not sin" (Eph 4:26) And honestly, I get a little outraged when people say things that can turn others away from Christ.

I totally get what you guys are saying. It still hurts, hearing those things. And if it hurts me, who else might be hurt?

I think you are beautiful Tif both iside and out. And I am sorry that some men have forgotten how to treat a lady

I think what really shocked me as well was one of my non Christian friends was reading the post behind me as I was scrolling through it. She than began to shake her head and say "Geez. These are Christians? This is the reason why I don't want to be one." and started a huge rant about how we are worse then non Christians. I closed my lap top, turned to her, and said "Honey, not everyone is like that. Do I act like that? Do you see some of the others posts about how those people are wrong?" and explained to her that those people had issues and are one track minded and can't see over their selfishness to see that they are hurting people.

Ok, I feel like feelings have been aired. I'm closing this thread so the hurts of yesterday can't be carried on further.

Thanks to those who addressed this situation in a positive productive way. I was stretched thin last night and really couldn't address this like I would have wanted to.
