It's a prohibition against putting the innocent to death, because that is sin. God doesn't commit sin.
There are if we don't repent of them,
But go ye and learnwhat that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, for
I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Mt.9:13
The righteous are people who realize they've sinned againt God and repent. We should realize all the abuse our great Lord Jesus suffered was sin against God. This should be the basis of our repentance.
