No you've got that all wrong....

2 Thes 1:9
Who shall be punished with everlasting (G166 aionios) destruction (G3639 olethros) from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of His power.

G166 - without end, never to cease, everlasting
What did i get all wrong? Destruction is final. It is eternal because there is no coming back from it. The opposite of eternal life is eternal death. Everlasting fire/ punishment/ destruction means what it says and it is clearly figurative as no fire can burn eternally. please make an effort to be a liitle more courteous in your interactions. You never know who may be reading these posts and your tone sets a bad precedent for all Christians.

For the fates of both men and beasts are the same: As one dies, so dies the other—they all have the same breath.
Man has no advantage over the animals, since everything is futile.
Ecclesiastes 3:19
Yes all go to the grave, except those in the Body of Christ caught away to glory when the Lord comes for them.

Also remember that the full revelation of Christ was as not yet revealed by the Holy Spirit. However Job said - `For I know that my redeemer lives, and He shall stand at last on the earth; and after my skin is destroyed this I know, that in my flesh I shall see God.` (Job. 19: 25 & 26)

My conversation with others is not the same as my conversation with you. The reason I asked this specific question to the other member is that they do not believe the first death is physical death according to their previous posts. I have to sift through that issue with them before I make progress with them for the annihilation topic.

Please keep our conversation between us and let me continue my conversation with others. I have to establish common ground with each person before we can make meaningful progress. What you and I agree on is not necessarily congruent between me and others. Only the comments that are in response to your comments are directed at you.
Does that make sense?
Hmm?
I guess youre new here? If you notice everyone who chooses to responds to the posts.

Again, this is between me and another member. Lets finish our conversation before switching to other aspects of the topic.
But in response to this, the angel does not say the lake of fire is a symbol of the second death. The angel says the lake of fire is the second death.

Whenever someone imposes another/additional meaning to the plain text of Scripture, they must have a Biblical reason. So if the verse, itself, or another verse tells us that the lake of fire is symbolic, then that would be a more plausible claim.

Now... let's return to our conversation and not muddy the waters.
What on earth- are you serious? You dont know that Revelation is filled with imagery that signifies something else?
The whole book of Revelation is SYMBOLS. The angels says The lake of fire IS the Second Death. In the same way he says the heads of the Beast ARE kings . the many waters ARE many peoples, the little horn IS…. On and on and on the angel EXPLAINS what the vision/images/ symbols signify!

However when you say they are resurrected then die again after judgment then you are negating that Christ destroyed physical death.

`He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet. The LAST ENEMY that will be destroyed is DEATH.` (1 Cor. 15: 25 7 26)

The Great White Throne judgment is AFTER that!
Read carefully the verse

”He must reign UNTIL he puts ALL ENEMIES UNDER HIS FEET.”

Therefore the judgment MUST take place after that!

God possesses eternal power. And we should be able to understand that God can indeed create an eternal unredeemed body fit for a lake of fire for eternal burning. God is by no means short of combustibles, time or space to do so.

Just as He will create new glorious bodies for justified redeemed believers fit for endless glorious worship in an eternal heavens.

I think the good scholars on this board have disproven your peculiar doctrine more than adequately.

`Under His feet` means awaiting judgment.

eg, `Sit at my right hand till I make your enemies your footstool.` (Ps. 110: 1)

I've said over and over again, that it does include the meaning of DEATH (from off of this earthly existence, as the case may be in certain texts; or away from His presence forever as in 2Th1:9).

It's misleading to take one small part of a definition and claim that is what a certain word means. Post the WHOLE definition from now on.

He has not destroyed physical death. not destroyed until after all unsaved dead are resurrected and judged and killed.

`He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet. The LAST ENEMY that will be destroyed is DEATH.` (1 Cor. 15: 25 7 26)

You are wrong.The day of judgment is FIRST, then death is destroyed. Sheesh, it's right in black and white. There is no excuse to get this wrong:

Rev 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
Rev 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
Rev 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
Rev 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

No the animals have instinct not a living soul.
I need to correct my comment here. Yes animal have souls, however man has a body, soul & spirit. (1 Thess. 5: 23) After the fall we see that our spirits were `dead in trespasses and sins.` (Eph. 2: 1)

This will be the state of those who do not turn to God.

No the animals have instinct not a living soul.
Scripture says otherwise:

Both man and animals have a living soul and the breath of life and a spirit.

Genesis 1:21 And God created great whales, and every living creature [soul] that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

living= 02416 chay
creature = 05315 nephesh

Genesis 1:24 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature [soul] after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.

living= 02416 chay
creature = 05315 nephesh

Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

living= 02416 chay
soul= 05315 nephesh

Both man and animals are a "living soul" according to God.

Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Man has the "breath of life".

Genesis 7:14 They, and every beast after his kind, and all the cattle after their kind, and every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind, and every fowl after his kind, every bird of every sort.
Genesis 7:15 And they went in unto Noah into the ark, two and two of all flesh, wherein is the breath of life.

Animals also have the breath of life.

1 Corinthians 15:39 All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds.

Man and animals have different flesh, but both are a living soul and have the breath of life.

Ecclesiastes 3:18 I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts.
Ecclesiastes 3:19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath [ru^ach]; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.
Ecc 3:20 All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.

What befalls the flesh of animals will also befall the flesh of man. Animals and man have the same breath! Breath here is ru^ach meaning spirit!

(YLT) For an event is to the sons of man, and an event is to the beasts, even one event is to them; as the death of this, so is the death of that; and one spirit is to all, and the advantage of man above the beast is nothing, for the whole is vanity.

Animals and man have one spirit (one spirit to all) meaning the same spirit!

Ecclesiastes 3:20 All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.

The flesh of animals and man both go to the same place!

Ecclesiastes 3:21 Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?

The only difference is the spirit of man will go up to God while the spirit of an animal will go down. No resurrection for animals, no afterlife.

So, according to God both man and animals are a living soul and have the the breath of life and have a spirit.

Hi ewq,

I corrected my thoughts concerning the souls of animals, however they do not have a spirit which is where we become God-conscious.

Soo.. just to be clear you believe Jesus is now or will be in eternal conscious torment—since you Believe THAT is the punishment for sin and not death? And you DONT believe Jesus when He says, “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes: and death shall be no more, nor mourning, nor crying, nor sorrow shall be any more, for the former things are passed away.”— Rev 21:4

That is one scripture and needs to be in line with all scriptures on the topic. Hebrew `ruwach,` means `wind, breath. And thus we need more details.

In 1 Thess. 5: 23 we see that we have a body, soul and spirit. Then in Heb. 4: 12 we are told that the word of God can divide between those - spirit and soul. An animal is self conscious but not God conscience.

Generally when it comes to Apologetics it would behoove you not to make up stuff on the fly.
The meaning is clear, but obviously not to you.
"Paul has added though that, after that incredible moment, Jesus will dethrone every rulership, power, and authority on earth to take full control of the world as His own kingdom, which He will immediately hand over to the Father. Now Paul emphasizes that Jesus will not hand it over to the Father until He has "put all of his enemies under his feet" or defeated them absolutely and irrevocably. Until that moment, Christ Himself will reign."
