We need to learn more regarding the Apostles of Christ who were:

1. Simon Peter
2. Andrew
3. James, son of Zebedee
4. John
5. Philip
6. Bartholomew
7. Thomas
8. Matthew
9. James, son of Alphaeus
10. Jude Thaddaeus
11. Simon the Canaanite
12. Matthias
Paul
Mark
Luke
Barnabas
Timothy
Apollos
Titus
Lazarus
John the Baptist
some would also say Mary Magdalene
See: William Steuart McBirnie, The Search for the Twelve Apostles, Tyndale House Publishers, 1973

of course the most blessed follower of Jesus Christ is Mary, the Mother of God, the ever-virgin Theotokos

Resurrection33, Learning everything the Bible teaches is learning about the LORD. It does not detract from the love of the LORD to love our neighbors. This is the second great commandment of all the law, to love our neighbors as ourselves. If the 12 apostles and other apostles of Christ are not our neighbors in Christ, who are? These people are the ones who preached the Gospel, and we owe them a debt of love, because without them, none of us would have known Jesus Christ. Through the successors of the apostles, the holy Scriptures have come down to us. The OC (Orthodox Church) has preserved faithfullly the Greek Scriptures of the OT and the NT. Thus, we have the whole Bible and the testimony of Jesus Christ (Revelation 19) because of the Orthodox Church. God bless you. In June 2011 AD Erie PA Scott R. Harrington

Mary was ever Virgin. There's no evidence whatsoever from Scripture nor history that she had other children. Indeed, it would be against Jewish law for Joseph to know her in a marital sense and we know that Joseph was a just man.

Dear loveschild, There is no Scripture that says "the children of Mary and Joseph"; and if Mary had other children of her own with Joseph, then Jesus Christ would not have asked St. John to take care of her. Christ on the cross asked St. John to take care of His mother. That would not have happened if Mary had other children of her own, who could take care of her. Case closed. Mary is Ever-Virgin. More like closed eyes.

Mary was not "ever-virgin":
Matt 1:
24) Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
25) And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

Jesus had half brothers and sisters:
Mark 13:
55) Is not this the carpenter's son? [they assumed He was...] is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?
56) And his sisters, are they not all with us?

They're "brethren" in the same sense Lot was Abraham's brother, ie, close male relatives. We read later that Mary, the wife of Clophas was the mother of James iirc (don't have my bible on hand at the moment). So there's a few different women here named Mary.

Why do you wish to know more about the apostles, and what would you like to know about them?

How could John be the guardian of Mary if Mary had children with St. Joseph? You still have failed greatly to produce one text that says "the children of Mary and Joseph together".
Matthew 1:25 says Joseph kept up not knowing her until. Until does not mean Joseph know her after she delivered Jesus. You need to do a word study of the word "until". There is a special sense in which this word is used. Your ignorance of Scripture and Orthodox tradition is showing, sorry.
Also brother and sister can mean cousin. Abraham called Lot his brother, when Lot was actually his uncle. Or nephew. I forget which! Sorry! So brother does not necessarily mean an immediate relative. It can mean any male relative.

The gospel accounts repeatedly refer to the 12. Jesus' apostles were very specific. Paul was clearly added by the Lord later. No evidence for others of that status.

Good list. All you need to know is they were not the bad guys of the bible. Another thing you should know is each person has a fascinating story behind them :)

WordGuardian, I want to know more about the apostles to get closer to Christ and His Church. Christ is in full union with His saints, and His saints are (were) in full union with Christ. I would like to know what the Apostles said that is not recorded in the NT.

Dear shroom2,
Because of John Calvin and Martin Luther, both with blood of other Christians on their hands, I don't hold a favorable opinion of Protestant Reformation tradition. (Theology). There is a Scripture that says He (Church) that "He must reign until" He has put His enemies under His feet. Does this mean Christ will not reign after He has subdued His enemies all under His feet? No. Not at all! Until has this meaning in the context of other Scriptures. As the one verse in the Pentateuch that no one knows where to body of Moses is to (until) this day. Does this mean the body of Moses was discovered the day after this verse was written (I believe in Deuteronomy)? Not at all. The death of Moses is recorded in Deuteronomy, and obviously this was not written by Moses himself but by a Jewish scribe who edited the words of Moses.
The Orthodox Church was born in the blood of the martyrs. Catholicism and Protestantism were born in the blood they shed against each other. Early dissenters from the popes of Rome were persecuted by the popes of Rome before during, and after the Reformation, and Protestants persecuted Catholics in the 16th century. Orthodoxy largely and for the most part escaped all this bloodshed, and seldom resorted to violence, but instead faced martyrdom at the hands of the non-Orthodox, Protestants and Catholics.

John the Baptist was called the greatest by our Lord God and Saviour Jesus Christ. And Christ also had a favorable view of St. John, the disciple whom He loved.
There were also 70 special chosen disciples of Christ in the book of Acts. These all were in the apostolic circle: some in the NT were apostles who taught apostolic traditions, others were disciples of the apostles who believed and received apostolic traditions. The whole NT is apostolic tradition.

You know if I had a scientific idea every time I wanted to know that, I would be able to build myself a time machine and a universal translator and go back in time and hear it for myself.

It would be interesting to know of things not mentioned. Especially since a lot was said in parables. Is there something in particular you wanted to know about, or merely in general what they knew.
